Effects of Adapalene-Benzoyl Peroxide Combination Gel in Treatment or Maintenance Therapy of Moderate or Severe Acne Vulgaris: A Meta-Analysis

( Rong Ying Zhou ),( Xian Jiang ) 대한피부과학회 2014 Annals of Dermatology Vol.26 No.1

Background: An antibiotic-free, fixed-dose combination gel with adapalene (A) 0.1% and benzoyl peroxide (BPO) 2.5% has been developed for treatment of acne vulgaris. Objective: To compare the clinical outcomes of A-BPO combination gel with vehicle gel for treatment or maintenance therapy of patients with acne vulgaris. Methods: An electronic search of the database PubMed (1966 to September 2012), Embase (1984 to September 2012), and Cochrane Controlled Trials Register (CENTRAL; 3rd Quarter, 2012) was undertaken to identify relevant studies. Main clinical outcomes were success rate, treatment-related adverse events (AEs), AEs leading to discontinuation, satisfaction with the effectiveness, and overall satisfaction. Results: Six studies were finally included in this meta-analysis. The A-BPO group yielded better clinical outcomes regarding the success rate (p<0.00001), satisfaction with the effectiveness of treatment (p=0.005), and overall satisfaction (p=0.005) compared to the vehicle group. The incidence of treatment- related AEs in the A-BPO group was comparable with that of vehicle group (p=0.09), while the A-BPO group was associated with a slightly increase in the incidence of AEs leading to discontinuation when compared with the vehicle group (p=0.02). Conclusion: A-BPO combination gel yields better clinical outcomes including success rate, satisfaction with the effectiveness, and overall satisfaction compared to vehicle gel, despite an increased incidence of AEs leading to discontinuation. The A-BPO combination agent most likely contributes to the treatment of moderate acne vulgaris rather than severe acne vulgaris, but it may be useful in maintenance therapy of patients with severe acne vulgaris. • Quantitative Peptidomics Study Reveals That a Wound-Induced Peptide from PR-1 Regulates Immune Signaling in Tomato

        Chen, Ying-Lan,Lee, Chi-Ying,Cheng, Kai-Tan,Chang, Wei-Hung,Huang, Rong-Nan,Nam, Hong Gil,Chen, Yet-Ran American Society of Plant Biologists 2014 The Plant cell Vol.26 No.10

<P>CAPE1, a conserved peptide elicitor derived from tomato PR-1, was induced by wounding and found to regulate immune responses against biological threats. As PR-1 is highly conserved across many organisms and the putative peptide from AtPR1 was also found to be bioactive in <I>Arabidopsis</I>, the results suggest that this peptide may be useful for enhancing resistance to stress in other plant species.</P><P>Many important cell-to-cell communication events in multicellular organisms are mediated by peptides, but only a few peptides have been identified in plants. In an attempt to address the difficulties in identifying plant signaling peptides, we developed a novel peptidomics approach and used this approach to discover defense signaling peptides in plants. In addition to the canonical peptide systemin, several novel peptides were confidently identified in tomato (<I>Solanum lycopersicum</I>) and quantified to be induced by both wounding and methyl jasmonate (MeJA). A wounding or wounding plus MeJA-induced peptide derived from the pathogenesis-related protein 1 (PR-1) family was found to induce significant antipathogen and minor antiherbivore responses in tomato. This study highlights a role for PR-1 in immune signaling and suggests the potential application of plant endogenous peptides in efforts to defeat biological threats in crop production. As PR-1 is highly conserved across many organisms and the putative peptide from At-PR1 was also found to be bioactive in <I>Arabidopsis thaliana</I>, our results suggest that this peptide may be useful for enhancing resistance to stress in other plant species.</P>

      • Research on Behavior of Capital Flight based on Evolutionary Game Theory

Yi-rong Ying,Ying Ye 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.11

Through the establishment of the capital flight model of asymmetric evolutionary game, this paper focuses on the study of game relationship among perpetrators, perpetrator assistants and government, and analyzes the evolutionary stable process under different conditions by three-dimensional figures. This paper also analyzes and compares features between the two parties’ model and the three parties’ model, connecting the two kinds of evolutionary games and providing a theoretic basis for a better understanding of the mechanism of capital flight and motivation of all groups. The result shows that by making use of expectation, government can control the ESS of capital flight groups by adjusting relative benefits and punishment in different regulation modes. It can also expand the strategy space that is in favor of capital control through the adjustment. In the end, this paper will propose policy suggestions for the control of capital flight according to the research findings above.

Effect of the reaction temperature on nanocrystallites MgAl2O4 spinel ceramic precursor

        Rong-tao Wang,Ying Peng,Xiao-wei Fan,Jian-xin Li,Xiao-ping Liang 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2009 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.10 No.6

Mg-Al hydrotalcite (Mg6Al2(OH)16CO3·4H2O), the precursor of MgAl2O4 spinel, has been synthesized via a coprecipitation method, using AlCl3·6H2O and MgCl2·6H2O as the raw materials, and NaOH and Na2CO3 as the precipitators. The effect of the reaction temperature, from 50℃ to 90℃, on the Mg-Al hydrotalcite nanocrystallites was analyzed. The nanocrystallites were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was confirmed that Mg-Al hydrotalcite nanocrystallites are pure and regularly hexagonal, having a typical hydrotalcite structure. The Mg-Al hydrotalcite crystals grow from about 30 nm to 100 nm with an increase in the reaction temperature from 50℃ to 90 ℃, and the crystal form also tends to perfect and regularly hexagonal. The Optical Measurement and Quantitative Analysis of Algesia in Spodoptera litura Larva

        Ying-Yun Chen,Rong-Seng Chang,Mi-Yin Tsai,Der-Chin Chen 한국광학회 2015 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.19 No.2

Muscle vibration measurement has long been an unique scientific study, in general, and the directreaction of animals to feel pain (algesia), either from vascular or muscle contraction, is a complexperceptual experience. Thus this paper proposes a way to measure animal algesia quantitatively, bymeasuring the changes in muscle vibration due to a pinprick on the surface of the skin of a Spodopteralitura larva. Using the laser optical triangulation measurement principle, along with a CMOS image sensor, linear laser, software analysis, and other tools, we quantify the subtle object point displacement, with aprecision of up to 10 μm, for our chosen Spodoptera litura larva animal model, in which it is not easyto identify the tiny changes in muscle contraction dynamics with the naked eye. We inject differentconcentrations of formalin reagent (empty needle, 12% formalin, and 37% formalin) to obtain a varietyof different muscle vibration frequencies as the experimental results. Because of the high concentrationsof reagent applied, we see a high frequency shift of muscle vibration, which can be presented as painindices, so that the algesia can be quantified

Residual Stress in Oil and Gas Pipelines with Two Types of Dents during Different Lifecycle Stages

        Ying Wu,Rong Zou,Yihuan Wang,Guojin Qin 대한토목학회 2020 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.24 No.6

The residual stress at a dented area is critical to oil and gas pipelines’ integrity and safe operation. A three-dimensional (3D) finite element-based model was developed to investigate the residual stresses in two typical dented areas during the lifecycle stages (pipeline construction and pipeline operation stages). Use of this model enables study of the distribution of the maximum residual stress (σRS) in the dented area. The effects of indenter size, pipeline size, internal pressure and dent depth on the residual stress of two types of dented pipelines were analyzed. A nonlinear regression analysis was used to obtain multi-factor formulas for predicting the σRS for different dents during different lifecycle stages. The results show that the σRS distribution in the dented area changes with dent depth. With σRS for a transversal dent being almost always greater than that for a longitudinal dent. During the pipeline construction stage, the influence of indenter size or pipeline size on σRS is almost the same for the two types of dent, whereas, during the pipeline operation stage, the influences are distinct. The tendency for pipeline size to affect σRS differs slightly as the dent depth increases. Multivariate fitting formulas can provide a reference for estimating σRS.

Improved lithium storage performance of CeO2-decorated SrLi2Ti6O14 material as an anode for Li-ion battery

Ying Li,Hong-Yan Liu,Ling-Na Shi,Yan-Rong Zhu,Ting-Feng Yi 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.101 No.-

In this work, the CeO2-decorated SrLi2Ti6O14 anode was successfully prepared through a solid-state process. The space-charge effect induced by the internal adsorption of ions on the CeO2 surface can easilyresult in a formation of an excellent conductive interfacial layer between CeO2 and SrLi2Ti6O14. The goodelectrical contact between CeO2 and SrLi2Ti6O14 offers more active sites for the electrolyte storage andredox reaction, and promotes the intercalation/deintercalation of lithium ions, and thus improves therate performance and cycle stability. Due to its unique structure and composition, the CeO2-decoratedSrLi2Ti6O14 composites exhibit high reversible capacities, good cycle performance and outstanding rateperformance. Especially, the CeO2 (5 wt%)-decorated SrLi2Ti6O14 anode shows the most excellent electrochemicalperformance, which delivers a large charge capacity of 121.3 mAh g 1 and a capacity retentionof 94.48% after 100 cycles at 0.5 A g 1. However, the corresponding charge capacity and capacity retentionof pristine SrLi2Ti6O14 are 100.5 mAh g 1 and 86.77%, respectively. The CeO2(5 wt%)-decoratedSrLi2Ti6O14 with enhanced rate capacity, cycle stability and structural stability is a potential electrodematerial candidate for Li-ion battery.

Research on Subcutaneous Pulse Shape Measurement by Near-infrared Moiré Technique

        Ying-Yun Chen,Zhizhen Liu,Jian Du,Rong-Seng Chang 한국광학회 2015 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.19 No.2

A pulse is generated when the heart pumps blood into the arterial system. The heart pumps blood onlywhen it contracts, not when it relaxes; therefore, blood enters the arterial system in a cyclical form. Arterybeating is visible in some parts of the body surface, such as the radial artery of the wrist. This papermainly uses the feature in which near-infrared spectroscopy penetrates skin to construct a non-invasivemeasurement system that can measure small vibration in the subcutaneous tissue of the human body, andthen uses it for the pulse measurement. This measurement system uses the optical moiré principle, togetherwith the fringe displacement made by small vibration in the subcutaneous tissue, and an image analysisprogram to calculate the height variation from small vibrations in the subcutaneous tissue. It completesa measurement system that records height variation with time, and that together with a fast Fouriertransform (FFT) program, they can convert the pulse waveform generated by vibration (time-amplitude)to heartbeat frequency (frequency-amplitude). This is a new and non-invasive medical assistance systemfor measuring the pulse of the human body, with the advantages of being simple, fast, safe and objective

Transmembrane Helix of Novel Oncogene with Kinase-Domain (NOK) Influences Its Oligomerization and Limits the Activation of RAS/MAPK Signaling

        Ying-Hua Li,Yin-Yin Wang,Shan Zhong,Zhi-Li Rong,Yong-Ming Ren,Zhi-Yong Li,Shu-Ping Zhang,Zhi-Jie Chang,Li Liu 한국분자세포생물학회 2009 Molecules and cells Vol.27 No.1

Ligand-dependent or independent oligomerization of receptor protein tyrosine kinase (RPTK) is often an essential step for receptor activation and intracellular signaling. The novel oncogene with kinase-domain (NOK) is a unique RPTK that almost completely lacks an ectodomain, expresses intracellularly and activates constitutively. However, it is unknown whether NOK can form oligomer or what function oligomerization would have. In this study, two NOK deletion mutants were generated by either removing the ectodomain (NOKECD) or including the endodomain (NOK-ICD). Co-immunoprecipitation demonstrated that the transmembrane (TM) domain of NOK was essential for its intermolecular interaction. The results further showed that NOK aggregated more closely as lower order oligomers (the dimer- and trimer-sized) than either deletion mutant did since NOK could be cross-linked by both Sulfo-EGS and formaldehyde, whereas either deletion mutant was only sensitive to Sulfo-EGS. Removing the NOK TM domain (NOK-ICD) not only markedly promoted higher order oligomerization, but also altered the subcellular localization of NOK and dramatically elevated the NOK-mediated constitutive activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK). Moreover, NOK-ICD but not NOK or NOKECD was co-localized with the upstream signaling molecule RAS on cell membrane. Thus, TM-mediated intermolecular contacting may be mainly responsible for the constitutive activation of NOK and contribute to the autoinhibitory effect on RAS/MAPK signaling.
