On the tangent space of a weighted homogeneous plane curve singularity
Mario Canon Mario,Julien Sebag 대한수학회 2020 대한수학회지 Vol.57 No.1
Let $k$ be a field of characteristic 0. Let $ \scr C=\Spec(k[x,y]/\langle f\rangle)$ be a weighted homogeneous plane curve singularity with tangent space $\pi_\scr C\colon T_{\scr C/k}\rightarrow \scr C$. In this article, we study, from a computational point of view, the Zariski closure $\scr G(\scr C)$ of the set of the 1-jets on $\scr C$ which define formal solutions (in $F[[t]]^2$ for field extensions $F$ of $k$) of the equation $f=0$. We produce Groebner bases of the ideal $\mathcal{N}_1(\scr C)$ defining $\scr G(\scr C)$ as a reduced closed subscheme of $T_{\scr C/k}$ and obtain applications in terms of logarithmic differential operators (in the plane) along $ \scr C$.

There exists strong evidence supporting the co-evolution of central supermassive black holesand their host galaxies; however it is still under debate how such a relation comes about and whether itis relevant for all or only a subset of galaxies. An important mechanism connecting AGN to their hostgalaxies is AGN feedback, potentially heating up or even expelling gas from galaxies. AGN feedbackmay hence be responsible for the eventual quenching of star formation and halting of galaxy growth. Arich multi-wavelength dataset ranging from the X-ray regime (\textit{Chandra}), to far-IR (\textit{Herschel}), and radio(\textit{WSRT}) is available for the North Ecliptic Pole field, most notably surveyed by the \textit{AKARI} infraredspace telescope, covering a total area on the sky of 5.4 sq. degrees. We investigate the star formationproperties and possible signatures of radio feedback mechanisms in the host galaxies of 237 radiosources below redshift z = 2 and at a radio 1.4 GHz flux density limit of 0.1 mJy. Using broadbandSED modelling, the nuclear and host galaxy components of these sources are studied simultaneously as a function of their radio luminosity. Here we present results concerning the AGN content of the radio sources in this field, while also offering evidence showcasing a link between AGN activity and host galaxy star formation. In particular, we show results supporting a maintenance type of feedback from powerful radio-jets.

Objective: To evaluate the prevalence and risk factors for unrecognized invasive carcinomain a series of patients undergoing surgical excision after an office biopsy of vulvar high-gradesquamous intraepithelial lesion (VHSIL). Methods: Two hundred and sixteen consecutive patients treated in a tertiary-level referralcenter for vulvar disease in north-western Italy were recruited. Patients' records werereviewed by trained personnel. Factors showing a statistically significant (p<0.05) associationwith detection of stromal invasion at excisional surgery in univariate analysis were furtherexamined in a backward stepwise multiple logistic regression model. Results: The median patient age was 50 years (range, 19–88). More than 25% patients withVHSIL at biopsy had associated cervical/vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia, and more than 35%had a multifocal lesion. Invasive carcinoma was detected in surgical specimens from 24 patients(11%). The depth of stromal invasion varied between 0.1 mm and 3.0 mm with a median of 0.5mm. In multivariate analysis, the risk of invasive carcinoma detection was greater for patients inthe highest tertile of age (p=0.008), for patients with a lesion ≥20 mm in size (p=0.013) and withclitoral involvement (p<0.001), and for patients presenting with a nodular lesion (p=0.078). Conclusion: Our study suggests that patient age, lesion size, clitoral involvement andnodular appearance in patients with VHSIL at vulvoscopy-directed biopsy are independentlyassociated with the risk of unrecognized invasive carcinoma.

A flatness based approach is proposed for the linear Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) stabilizationof a nonlinear inertia wheel pendulum (IWP) around its unstable equilibrium point, subject to unmodelleddynamics and disturbances. The approach exploits the cascade structure, provided by the flatness property, of thetangent linearization of the underactuated system which allows designing a high gain linear cascaded Extended StateObserver (ESO) of the Generalized Proportional Integral (GPI) type. This class of linear observers is employed tobuild an Active Disturbance Rejection Control controller with a lower order of complexity regarding other ADRCclassic schemes. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach, aswell as a better behavior with respect to a classic control technique in the presence of disturbances.

This study explored attitudes and perceptions of Chinese high school students regarding freedom of expression in their country. A survey capturing perceptions over various forms of free speech (e.g., student publication, dress code) was administered to a sample of 838, which included students from both urban and rural areas within Shaanxi Province in northwest China. A factor analysis and CFA model were administered to confirm survey validity and reliability. A factorial MANOVA was then used to explore differences across gender, grade, and region groups. The findings revealed students largely supported free speech rights but their responses varied to some degree by setting and student age. In general, urban students reported more positive attitudes about their school environment regarding expression and older participants were more likely to be supportive of free speech. All in all, findings suggest that free speech rights are important matters for adolescents in both modern and traditional settings in China. Implications for comparative research regarding civil liberties in diverse contexts are discussed.
C1-STABLY SHADOWABLE CONSERVATIVE DIFFEOMORPHISMS ARE ANOSOV
Mario Bessa 대한수학회 2013 대한수학회보 Vol.50 No.5
In this short note we prove that if a symplectomorphism f is C1-stably shadowable, then f is Anosov. The same result is obtained for volume-preserving diffeomorphisms.

We report on the measurement of the absolute external luminescence quantum efficiency that is directly accessible using a miniature integrating sphere fitted into a cryostat. Various measurements have been carried out on high quality laboratory bulk samples and dierent commercially available ZnO powders from 10 K up to room temperature. A fit to the temperature dependent quantum efficiency shows the existence of various activated processes.
