Background and Objectives : The overexpression of P-glycoprotein (Pgp) or multidrug resistanceassociated protein (MRP) confers multidrug resistance (MDR) to cancer cells. MDR cells could be sensitized to anticancer drugs when treated concomitantly with a chemosensitizer. In this study, orange peel have been screened for the development of chemosensitizers reversing MDR. Materials and methods : Expression of Pgp in AML-2/WT and AML-2/D100 were determined using western blot analysis and RT-PCR. Candidates for chemosensitizers were isolated, purified from orange peel using sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and silica-gel column chromatography, whose structure was determined using ^1H-NMR, ^13C-NMR, ^1H-^1H-COSY, 13C-NMR, EI-Mass, IR. Chemosensitizing effect of NP-28 on AML-2/DX100 over expressing Pgp and MRP was determined by the MTT assay. Membrane toxicity was evaluated by the RBC hemolysis test. Antioxidant effects were examined by using a fluorescence probe (2’-7’-dichlorofluorescein diacetate). Results : A potent candidate, NP-28, has a flavonoid nucleus with some methoxy moiety. NP-28 is believed to have high therapeutic index, being non-transportable inhibitor and possibly, of inhibiting other efflux pumps such as MRP and antioxidant effects. NP-28 is also unlikely to be a substrate of Pgp. NP-28 did not increase Pgp levels. Conclusion : NP-28 has a Chemosensitizing effect to reverse Pgp-mediated MDR by increasing the intracellular accumulation of drugs. Furthermore, they do not increase expression of Pgp, which can allow a long term use without the concern about Pgp activation. NP-28 is anticipated as an ideal second-generation flavonoid chemosensitizer and/or possibly other therapeutic agents by further investigation.

Its customers represent every sector of the world s economy and every segment of the world s population The industry s competitive environment is undergoing fundamental change. Its development in major market is constrained by problems mused by overloaded airport and air traffic control systems and by concern about air transport s environmental impact. To meet growing demand, the industry is investing heavily in new technology and in modem aircraft. The airlines are improving upon outstanding standards of safety, efficiency and reliability and are continually reducing cost to the customer. At the same time the industry is constantly seeking to reduce its environmental impact and has regulurly improved its environmental performance over time. Air transport has consistently made optimal use of technology and has sponsored technological innovation - even though this has entailed major material and financial investment. Air traffic world-wide is growing by an average 5 percent each year. Current trends suggest that by the year 2005 its growth may double Should it grow to this extent, and if scientists predictions about global warming hold true, a number of conditions will need to be met; Quite apart from the major question of the ability o f the airways and airports to absorb forecast growth air transport will need to further improve its environmental record If air transport s impact on the environment is to be minimised, the industry must continually devote adequate resources to the protection of the environment and fully exploit the best available technology. The airlines are playing their part in cleaning up" the planet and in preserving and protecting its natural resources. However, they are concerned that governments and the public are not sufficiently aware of the world-wide economic loss which would result from an industry fettered by unnecessary constraints. Stringent environmental standards entail heavy airline investment, which is eventually passed on to passengers in higher fares.

Odontogenic keratocysts(OKCs) are frequently associated with erupted or impacted tooth. In such instances, the radiographic features simulate those of a dentigerous cyst. The purpose of this study was to evaluate a comparative immunohistochemical expression of Ki-67 as a proliferative marker in the OKC associated with or without impacted tooth. In addition, we have also been investigated with regard to the proliferative activity comparing the unilocular and multilocular varieties of the OKC. The material for this study consisted of thirty-two cases of OKCs (OKC with impacted tooth, n=16; OKC without impacted tooth, n=16) and ten cases of dentigerous cysts as a comparison. The results revealed that the proliferative activity of OKCs with impacted tooth was higher than those of dentigerous cysts. However, there was no correlation between Ki-67 immunoreactivity and association with or without impacted tooth in 32 cases of OKCs. In addition, this present study showed that there was no correlation between the unilocular and multilocular varieties of the OKCs imn proliferative activity.

A thin film Pt-RTD(resistance temperature device) was fabricated by using DC magnetron sputtering and laser patterning. A study was fulfilled to adjust the TCR(temperature coefficient of resistance) to 3850 ppm/℃ which is IEC751 standard and the influence of oxygen addition(0 ~ 20 %) on TCR was measured. The resistance of Pt-RTD was set to 1000 Q at 0 ℃ using laser patterning and trimming. The analyses of XRD and AES were used to characterise the platinum thin film. The TCR of Pt-RTD was measured by a high precision oil bath. When the addition of oxygen flow rate was 1 %, TCR was 3850 ppm/℃.

농산물 인터넷 비즈니스의 성공요인 분석

The Importance of agricultural products sales in network environment is increasing very rapidly in theses days. In this study we surveyed the success factors of the internet sites in which selling their agricultural product on the net. The results showed that average sales per month have positive correlation with success factors as numbers of each site members, visiting numbers of each sites per month, and sales numbers of each sites per month. To increase the quantity of sales, they should concentrate selling strategy on high quality products, and the web page of the business sites must be designed with user friendly and community supportive conditions. And to increase the repurchase rate, systemic management of consumer is required.

중증 근무력증 52례에 대한 임상적 고찰

1985년 8월부터 1996년 1월까지 중증근무력증으로 진단받은 환자 52례에 대한 임상적 고찰을 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 전체 환자 중 남자가 19례(35.8%), 여자가 33례(64.2%)이넜고 11세에서 20세 사이가 12례(23%)로 가장 높은 빈도를 보였다. 2. 환자의 초기증상으로는 안검하수, 복시 등의 안구증상이 37례(71.2%)로 가장 많았고 modified Osserman의 분류에 따라서도 가장 증상이 가볍고 약물치료에 잘 반응하는 1군이 36례(69.3%)로 가장 많았다. 3. 환자가 호소하는 증상의 비특이성과 회복과 재발을 거듭하는 질병의 특성으로 인해 발병이후 진단될 때까지의 시간은 비교적 오래 걸렸고 1년이상 경과하며 진단된 경우도 16례(30.8%)나 되었다. 4. 자가면역질환이 7.6%에서 동반되었는데 갑상선기능 항진증이 2례(3.8), 인슐린의존형 당뇨 2례(3.8%)였고 종격동 전산화 단층촬영소견에서 흉선의 비대가 의심되었던 환자는 6례(11.5%), 흉선종이 발견 되었던 경우는 3례였다. 5. 환자의 치료는 대부분 항콜린에스테라제나 부신피질호르몬을 병용하는 내과적 치료를 하였으며 약물의 치료에 반응이 미비하거나 악화되는 경우 혹은 종격동 전산화 단층촬영상에서 흉선의 이상 소견이 보인 경우에 2례(3.9%)에서는 흉선절제술이, 1례(1.9%)에서는 혈장여과요법이 추가 되었고 흉선절제술과 혈장여과요법이 같이 병합 치료된 경우도 3례(5.9%)있었다. 6. 전체 환자중 2명에서 자연치유의 경과를 보였으며 이들은 모두 1군이였다. 그리고 흉선절제술과 부신피질 호르몬 투여로 완치된 예가 1례있었다. The authors experienced 52 patients with myasthenia gravis who were diagnosed at the Department of Neurology, Yeungnam University Hospital from August 1985 to January 1996. The following results were obtained through diagnostic evaluation and treatment. 1. The ratio of male to female was 1:1.7 and the most prevalent age group was second decade. 2. The most common initial presentation symptom was ocular(71.2%) and the peak incidence group was stage I(69.3%) according to the modified Osserman's classification. 3. In 16 patients(30.8%), it took more than a year to diagnose due to symptoms which were relapsed and remitting. 4. Of 52 patients, 2 cases were associated with thyroid disease(3.8%) and 2 with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus(3.8%). 5. All of those who received anticholinesterase and corticosteroid therapy were improved with the exception of 5 cases which were improved after thymectomy and/or plasmapheresis. 6. Spontaneous remission was occured in 2 cases(3.8%) of ocular myasthenia gravis. And 1 case of group II was cured through thymectomy and long-term corticosteroid therapy.

NATM 산악터널의 숏크리트 투입율에 관한 연구

This study has analysed actual overbreak, shotcrete rebound and the ratio between the actual quantity of shotcrete to designed shotcrete measured during a NATM tunnel construction. The measured shotcrete rebound was about 7.2% in average which was about half the allowable rebound (15%), showing shotcrete spraying was performed well. Based on the measurement of excavated tunnel shape, average overbreak was about 28.5 cm after tunnel excavation by drill and blasting method. This was about 260% of allowable overbreak. In addition, due to the rebound and overbreak actual amount of shotcrete used in the tunnelling work was about 116.5 % of the designed value. According to the field measurement the ratio of actual shotcrete to designed value showed some relation with standard support pattern, but the size of overbreak did not show the correlation with standard support pattern. Hence current design specifications stating the size of overbreak based entirely on standard support pattern should perhaps be reestablished. 농산물 이력추적관리에 관한 생산자,소비자 인식 연구

Most farmers who participated in model project on traceability in Korea understand the necessities on traceability introduction eventhough if increases production costs. In this model project, the problems that were point outed by participating farmers were as follows Marketing of products, advertisement & training program, setting of guidelines on traceability system for each items. In this research, survey regarding to organic agricultural products purchase?will by time was carried out and ratio of real purchase and its purchase time among people who showed their purchase?will was investigated. The reason of this procedure is to estimate "final purchase rate". This result was applied to logistic model and bass model than finally obtained organic agricultural product's purchase demand.

주택성능등급제에 따른 레미콘 산업의 대응방안

This study investigates the regulations on concrete grade evaluation, in response to operation of housing performance grade system(HGS). It also studies countermeasure- of ready mixed concrete industry. Because the HGS provide people who have to invest in housing once during their whole life, with objective information of housing performance, housing consumers would easily understand and purchase better house. In addition housing construction companies will try to supply the high quality housing, in response to people's various housing performance needs. It is expected that housing quality improvement and housing components technology development will be nationally activated, due to the competition on housing quality between the construction companies. After this, HGS is now on design process but will be on construction process connecting specification, which is perfoiniance based design and on the process after completion. It is assumed that those regulations will be possibly continued to develope for housing performance guarantee system.

교통사고로 내원한 접형척추(butterfly vertebra) 환자 1예 보고

A butterfly vertebra is a rare, but very important congenital anomaly that must be differentially diagnosed with compression fracture of the vertebral body. It has characteristic findings on simple X-ray, CT, and MRI. These findings are an anterior wedging contour on the sagittal image, a widening of the transverse diameter on the coronal image, adaptations of nearby vertebral endplates on the sagittal image, communicated intervertebral disc spaces on the sagittal and the coronal images, a well-defied midline bony defect with a sclerotic margin in the vertebral body on the axial image, and a normal body signal intensity on MRI. Because of legal problems and further plans for treatment, close attention must be given to patients who complain of back pain and who have decreased anterior height of the vertebral body after trauma. In those patients, a butterfly vertebra must be differentially diagnosed with compression fracture of vertebral body. We report one such case here.
