This study was carried out to find out the effects on the overall stress of middle-aged woman in the facial treatment going side by side with treatment of scalp and d▯collet▯, and the treatment was carried out for middle-aged women 20 people twice a week for a total of 8 times as to be divided into Group A (n=7) for facial treatment, Group B (n-=7) for facial and scalp treatment Group C (n-6) for facial and dècolletè treatment and the following conclusions were obtained by the EEG (Electro Encephalo Graph) measurements after facial, scalp and dècolletè treatment. There was a significant difference in Group B for facial and scalp treatment in ‘physial stress (left and right)’, ‘Psychological stress (left and right) and the ‘anti -stress (left and rignt)’. These results from the treatment of scalp are thought to help promote a smooth supply of oxygen in the brain and to help relax from the excitement of the mind, and to be increased bodys resistance to stress by the stability of the body and mind due to ease the physical and psychological stress. And the variety of research and program development for the effects on the stress of middle-aged women is expected to be applied to an alternative therapy of stress relief them in the future.

만성 특발성 변비증의 임상적 고찰

N/A Objectives: As nonorganic, or functional factors play an important etiopathogenetic role in chronic constipation, we have reviewed functional tests on patients with chronic idiopathic constipation. Results of investigation and subsequent proper treatment are suggested. Methods: Clinical assessment, colonic transit, defecogram, anorectal manometry and pelvic floor electrophysiologic tests were performed in 30 patients with chronic idiopathic constipation, Results: 1) The ratio of male to female was 1:4, and the mean age was 48.2 years. Primary complaints were incomplete evacuation (83.3%), abdominal fullness (70.0%), abdominal pain (70.0%), rectal bleeding (43.3%), nausea (33.3%), tenesmus (33.3%) and dysuria (20.0%). Hemorrhoids and melanosis coli were present in 70.4% and 11.1% of the patients respectively at colonoscopy. The types of personality using the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory showed somatization 50.0% and psycho- physiological reaction 41.7%. 2) Colonic transit studies identified three patterns: normal transit 38.9%, colonic inertia 22.2%, pelvic outlet obstruction 16.7%, and mixed type 22.2%. The mean transit time of total colon was 56.4±5.0 hr. in colonic inertia and mixed type. 3) Defecogram revealed rectocele 77.8%, incomplete evacuation 48.1%, paradoxical contraction of puborectalis 40.7%, rectal intussusception 25.9%, parietal rectal rigidity 11.1%, and excessive pelvic floor descent 11.1%. 4) The mean minimal sensory volume, anal sphincter length, maximum resting and squeeze anal pressure was 47.9±17.5 ml, 3.9±0.9 cm, 104.3±17.9mmHg and 156.4±15.0mmHg respectively. The anorectal inhibitory reflex was intact in all patients. 5) Electrophysiologic studies suggested pudendal neuropathy in 5 patients (27.8%). 6) The patients were treated by drug therapy 83.3%, biofeedback therapy 10.0% and operation 6.7%. Conclusion: From the above results, systematic diagnostic evaluation and proper treatment for the patients with chronic idiopathic constipation in view of functional motility disorder are required and treatment can be helpful particularly when directed by a multidisciplinary team approach.

N/A Objectives: This study was designed to estimate the prevalence of Helicobacter Pylori infection in a healthy population in Korea and correlate between H. Pylori infection and serum pepsinogen levels as markers of gastritis and atrophic gastritis. Methods: We collected sera obtained form 104 children and 173 adult who had no gastrointestinal symptoms and measured specific IgG antibodies against H. Pylori by Bio-Rad G. A. P test. Serum pepsinogen 1 and 2 concentrations were determined by radioimmunoassay. Results: 1) The frequency of H. Pylori infection increased with age and was more than 80% over age 40. 2) Serum pepsinogen 1 and 2 concentrations in the healthy population were increased with age, while the serum pepsinogen 1/2 ratio decreased. 3) There were no significant statistical differences between the titre of specific IgG antibodies against H. Pylori and serum pepsinogens. Conclusion: The data from this study suggested that the prevalence of Helicobacter Pylori infection increased with age and serum pepsinogen levels were related to the presence or absence of H. Pylori infection. We conclude that H. Pylori infection is one of the factors which helps develop atrophic gastritis, the precursor lesion of gastric cancer.

In this paper, we discuss improved Morphological sampling system aiming the access of the identity system. Morphology Signal Processing is sometimes much useful than traditional signal processing. The advantage of the Morphological sampling theorem is that the object is the set. This point could be extended to more objects than the Nyquist sampling theorem. However the biggest disadvantage of the Morphological sampling theorem is invalid in the correlation of 1:1 mapping between input signal and output signal. So we want to deal with this disadvantage. Thus, we introduce the improved system.

소양소음인(少陽少陰人)과 태양태음인(太陽太陰人)의 한(汗), 대변(大便), 소변(小便), 소화(消化)에 관한 임상적 비교 연구

1. Objectives There are many studies on the ordinary symptoms based on Sasang constitution. But there. are not quite satisfactory between the types of Sasang constitution. So This study is for learning the characteristics of ordinary symptoms depending on Soyangin Soeumin and Taeyangin Taeumin of the Sasang constitution. 2. Methods One thousand and two hundred twenty nine subjects were included in Bundang Oriental Hospital of Dongguk University. We classified them into the each type of Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM) by the well-trained SCM specialist, and assessed their ordinary features by the questionnaire. Binary logistic regression analysis was applied to evaluate the influence of ordinary features to the diagnosis of SCM. 3. Results (1) Compared to Taeyangin Taeumin, Soyangin Soeumin do not sweat a lot. Even if Soyangin Soeumifl do sweat, one does not feel refreshed. Soyangin Soeumin do not sweat while sleeping at night nor eating meals, but discharges cold sweat if one does not feel well. (2) Compared to Taeyangin Taeumin, Soyangin Soeumin go to stool less frequently and have diarrhea when one does not feel well. Soyangin Soeumin do not feel irritated even though one is not able to go to stool for one day. (3) Compared to Taeyangin Taeumin, Soyangin Soeumin do not have foams in urine. (4) Compared to Taeyangin Taeumin, Soyangin Soeumin tend to eat slow, do not eat a lot normally, do not have a great appetite, have problems for digestion, and especially have difficulties in digestion when one is stressed. 4. Conclusions We found that Taeyangin Taeumin and Soyangin Soeumin have characteristics of ordinary symptoms, but partly there are not in accoradance with ones what Lee ]e-Ma said in his book. So in future we hope clinical studies are required steadily.

N/A Background/Aims: The autonomic nervous system distributed throughout the stomach consists of adrenergic, cholinergic, and non-adrenergic, non-cholinergic (NANC) nerves. Of these, NANC nerve fibers are known to be distributed all throughout the gastrointestinal tract and they provide the main inhibitory nerve supply to the gut smooth muscle. NANC nerve is known to release neurotransrnitters such as nitric oxide (NO), adenosine 5-triphosphate (ATP) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). However, the effect produced by each of the NANC neurotransmitter depends on an animal species and parts of gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, this experiment applied electrical field stirnulation at the circular musc]e of a guinea pigs gastric fundus to observe any relation of NANC nerve in muscu]ar relaxation. Methods: The effect of ATP, VIP, and NO on muscle re)axation was determined through the electrical field stimulation, and each neurotrans- mitters ability to regulate the muscle relaxation was compared. Results: Muscle strips were relaxed in response to electrical field stimulation that was applied. The relaxation was not inhibited by atropine or guanethidine, but was completely inhibited by tetrodotoxin. The muscle relaxation caused by NANC nerve stimulation was inhibited by L-NNA, VIP antagonist, and suramin. L-NNA was the most potent inhibitor among them. The muscle relaxation caused by electrical field stimulation was not further inhibited by VIP antagonist after the pretreatment of L-NNA, however, it was further inhibited by L-NNA following the treatment of VIP antagonist. The electrically stimulaed induced muscle relaxation was almost complete]y abolished by coadministration of L-NNA with VIP antagonist and suramin, The exogenous VIP-induced muscle relaxation was not affected by presence or absence of L-NNA. Oxyhemoglobin or methylene blue treatment inhibited the muscle relaxation induced by electrical field stimulation. Conclusions: Non-adrenergic and non-cholinergic nerve has an inhibitory neurotransmission in a guinea pigs gastric fundus circular muscle and NO is the principal inhibitory neurotransmitter of NANC nerve. NO mediated muscle relaxation is thought to be associated with increase of cGMP in muscle cells. (Korean J Gastroen- terol 1997;29:2S9 - 300)

대장 흑색소증의 임상적 고찰

N/A Melanosis coli associated with ingestion of anthraquinone compounds in laxatives is due to accumulation of macrophages containing brown lipofuscin-like pigments in the lamina propria. We analyzed the clinical, endoscopic, and pathologic findings and colonic motor functions of melanosis coli and performed electronmicroscopic study to know the ultrastructural changes of neural elements. We studied 13 cases (mean age 48.1 +- 18.5 years, male to female cases 6:7). The vegetable laxatives containing anthraquinone derivatives, aloe or bisacodyl were used mainly and the mean duration of laxative abuse was l.5 +- 1.2 years. Endoscopically, dark brownish mucosal disoloration showed polyhedral forms divided by fine striae of lighter color. Melanosis was more intense in the more oral part of the bowel. Pathologically, no relationship was found between grade of melanosis and kind of drugs, daily dose, or durat.ion of addiction. Ultrastructural features on nerve structure were ballooning of axon. reduction of nerve specific cell organelles, and increased lysosomal activity. The alterations of these neural elements are assumed to he associated with impaired colonic motility. In conclusion, vegetable laxatives such as aloe, seem to be an important causes of melanosis coli in Korea. melanosis coli have a tendency to damage nerve fibers. We should avoid laxative abuse in order to prevent pragressing to cathartic colon.

고등학교 과학과 지국과학 교과서의 평균자오면순환의 오류와 수정을 위한 제안

2009년 개정 교육과정에 따른 고등학교 과학과 지구과학 교과서에는 평균자오면 순환이 소개되어 있다. 그런데 몇몇의 교과서는 평균자오면순환 중 페렐순환의 상층의 방향이 일치하지 않는다. 이 논문은 12종의 고등학교 과학과 지구과학 교과서에 소개되어 있는 평균자오면순환 그림을 분석하고, 관측자료 분석을 통해 평균자오면순환의 정확한 그림을 제시하는 것에 목적이 있다. 또한 OpenGrADS을 이용하여 평균자오면순환을 직접 그릴 수 있는 방법을 소개하였다. The purpose of this study is to correct a error in the mean meridional circulation (MMC) figures of the science textbooks. The Ferrel circulation from the 12 high school textbooks are shown in two different types in term of the direction of the upper branch in the circulation. The upper atmospheric flow associated with Ferrel cell from the 8 textbooks shows northerly (from the north to the south), but others southerly (from the south to the north). We calculate the MMC from the two observation data (ECMWF and NCEP). The Ferrell cell has sinking motion at 30°N and 30°S, relatively weak rising motion approximately near 60°. The mass continuity indicates that upper branch of the Ferrel cell should flow toward the equatorward. We also introduced the OpenGrADS software which enables teachers and students to create their own figures of MMC, thus, helps better understand the general circulation.

증례 : 내분비-대사; 갑상선암과 자궁내막암에서 동시에 전이된 경부림프절에 관한 증례

A 54-year-old woman presenting with dizziness was diagnosed with a metastatic brain tumor. Imaging studies to identify the primary cancer revealed endometrial thickening with a left adnexal mass, enlarged bilateral external iliac lymph nodes, and multiple attenuated nodules in both lobes of the thyroid gland with enlarged central neck nodes. After curettage of the uterine endometrium and ultrasonography-guided gun biopsy of the thyroid gland to confirm uterine and thyroid cancers, respectively, total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and total thyroidectomy with bilateral central neck dissection were performed. Histopathologic examination of the removed tissues demonstrated both endometrial carcinoma metastasis to the thyroid gland and primary thyroid cancer with synchronous central neck node metastasis originating in the endometrium and thyroid. Three of the four right central lymph nodes were positive for metastatic papillary carcinoma; on the other hand, the remaining right central lymph node and one of the two left central lymph nodes were confirmed to be positive for metastatic endometrial carcinoma.
