High efficiency top-emitting white organic light-emitting devices with a (metal/organic)_2 cathode

        Wenyu Ji,Letian Zhang,Mo Liu,Jing Wang,Guoqiang Liu,Wenfa Xie,Hanzhuang Zhang 한국물리학회 2011 Current Applied Physics Vol.11 No.6

White top-emitting organic light-emitting devices (TEOLEDs) were fabricated on a glass substrate with metal/organic multilayer of (Ag/Alq_3)_2 (Alq3 is tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum) as cathode. White TEOLEDs with high efficiencywere obtained due to the microcavity effects.Andthe (Ag/Alq_3)_2 cathode, which adjusted the optical characteristics of the devices, played an important role. In addition, Alq_3―Ag―Alq_3multilayer could work as a buffer layer, which would simplify the process of encapsulation for devices. We also calculated the electroluminescence spectrum of devices encapsulated with Al_2O_3 (150 nm) and Al_2O_3(75 nm)/ZrO_2(75 nm). And the results indicated that the CIE coordinates is almost the same between with and without encapsulating.

Semi-solid State Fermentation of Food Waste for Production of Bacillus thuringiensis Biopesticide

        Wenyu Zhang,Hui Zou,Lin Jiang,Juejun Yao,Jing Liang,Qunhui Wang 한국생물공학회 2015 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.20 No.6

In this study, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) biopesticide was produced through different fermentation processes using food waste with different water contents. The semi-solid state sample with 75% water content presented the highest δ-endotoxin efficiency of 862 μg/mL. δ-endotoxin efficiency increased by 30.2% from that of the solid-state sample (50% water content) and 73.8% from that of the submerged sample (99% water content). Results confirmed that semi-solid state fermentation presents considerable advantages compared with other fermentation types (solid-state and submerged). The timing adjustment of pH and recycling fermentation effectively counteracted the inhibition of pH and product, thereby increasing δ- endotoxin efficiency to 1,648 and 2,478 μg/mL (accumulated value of all four fermentation loops), respectively. A δ- endotoxin slow-release formulation using polylactic acid as the carrier was also developed to effectively promote the stability of Bt biopesticide.

Protective Effects of Gypenosides against Fatty Liver Disease Induced by High Fat and Cholesterol Diet and Alcohol in Rats

        Renan Qin,Hong Nie,Jianyu Zhang,Chuyuan Li,Xiaoqi Zhang,Aihua Xiong,Feng Huang,Zhen Yin,Kongyan Li,Wenyu Qin,Mingzhen Chen,Shubing Zhang,Lingyi Liang,Huiye Zhang,Wencai Ye 대한약학회 2012 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.35 No.7

In the present study, the protective effects of gypenosides from Gynostemma pentaphyllum on fatty liver disease (FLD) were examined in rats treated with high fat and cholesterol diet and alcohol. Male SD rats were divided into seven groups: control, model, lovastatin, silymarin, gypenosides high-, medium- and low-treatment groups. The latter 6 groups were fed high-fat and cholesterol diet and administered alcohol intragastricly once a day. Body weight was measured every week for 10 weeks, and the hepatic index was measured after 10 weeks. Compared with model group, levels of serum triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), free fatty acid (FFA), and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) level, malondialdehyde (MDA), serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity, and hepatocyte apoptosis were significantly decreased in gypenosides groups; while serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in both serum and hepatic tissue and mRNA and protein level of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPAR-α) were significantly increased. Moreover, hepatic steatosis and mitochondrial damage were improved. These results suggested that gypenosides could prevent liver fatty degeneration in fatty liver disease through modulating lipid metabolism, ameliorating liver dysfunction and reducing oxidative stress.

Removal of ammonia nitrogen from wastewater by three-dimensional electrode system based on solid waste containing iron

        Wenyu Yang,Demin Li,Jing Zhang,Zhaoyang Wang 대한환경공학회 2022 Environmental Engineering Research Vol.27 No.6

In order to solve the problem of ammonia nitrogen pollution, three-dimensional electrode electrochemical oxidation technology is utilized to transform ammonia nitrogen. The influence of influent pH, power supply and electrolyte concentration on ammonia nitrogen removal by three-dimensional electrode method and its mechanism were discussed by single factor variable analysis. The particle electrode by emission scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The results show that the removal efficiency of ammonia nitrogen by three-dimensional electrode is higher than that by two-dimensional electrode. When the aqueous solution is neutral, the direct and indirect oxidation reactions of ammonia nitrogen can reach the best state, and the removal efficiency is the highest. Within a certain range, the electrolytic efficiency will increase with the increase of electrolytic voltage and electrolyte concentration. The reduction of electrode spacing in a certain range can enhance the direct oxidation of ammonia nitrogen and improve the electrolysis efficiency of ammonia nitrogen. Under the conditions of pH 7, power supply voltage 14 V, electrolyte concentration 0.1 mol/L, electrode spacing 1 cm, electrolytic time 50 min, ammonia nitrogen can be completely removed from the three-dimensional electrode

An Engineered Outer Membrane-Defective Escherichia coli Secreting Protective Antigens against Streptococcus suis via the Twin-Arginine Translocation Pathway as a Vaccine

( Wenyu Li ),( Fan Yin ),( Zixuan Bu ),( Yuying Liu ),( Yongqing Zhang ),( Xiabing Chen ),( Shaowen Li ),( Lu Li ),( Rui Zhou ),( Qi Huang ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2022 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.32 No.3

Live bacterial vector vaccines are one of the most promising vaccine types and have the advantages of low cost, flexibility, and good safety. Meanwhile, protein secretion systems have been reported as useful tools to facilitate the release of heterologous antigen proteins from bacterial vectors. The twin-arginine translocation (Tat) system is an important protein export system that transports fully folded proteins in a signal peptide-dependent manner. In this study, we constructed a live vector vaccine using an engineered commensal Escherichia coli strain in which amiA and amiC genes were deleted, resulting in a leaky outer membrane that allows the release of periplasmic proteins to the extracellular environment. The protective antigen proteins SLY, enolase, and Sbp against Streptococcus suis were targeted to the Tat pathway by fusing a Tat signal peptide. Our results showed that by exploiting the Tat pathway and the outer membrane-defective E. coli strain, the antigen proteins were successfully secreted. The strains secreting the antigen proteins were used to vaccinate mice. After S. suis challenge, the vaccinated group showed significantly higher survival and milder clinical symptoms compared with the vector group. Further analysis showed that the mice in the vaccinated group had lower burdens of bacteria load and slighter pathological changes. Our study reports a novel live bacterial vector vaccine that uses the Tat system and provides a new alternative for developing S. suis vaccine.

Remote Identification for Smart-meter Operation Error based on a Wireless Sensor Network in a Smart City

        Wenyu Liu,Haishan Zhou,Muxin Zhang,Ying Shang,Yudan Liu 대한전자공학회 2022 IEIE Transactions on Smart Processing & Computing Vol.11 No.6

This paper presents a remote identification method for smart-meter operation errors based on a wireless sensor network (WSN) in a smart city to reduce the bad operation of smart meters. In the WSN, ZigBee communication technology was used to collect data from smart meters to enhance the reliability of information. The LEACH protocol can effectively extend the network life cycle and was selected as a communication protocol for WSNs to collect operation data from intelligent meters. Based on the operation data of a smart meter collected by a WSN, a remote identification model of operation error of a smart meter was established. The limited memory least square algorithm was adopted to construct the remote identification model of operation error for a smart meter to realize the remote identification of a smart-meter error in a smart city. The proposed method can use a WSN to collect operation data from a smart meter and remotely identify the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and root mean square error (RMSE) of a smart meter’s operation error, which were less than 1%.

        Xianglun Zhang,Peng Lu,Wenyue Xue,Dawei wu,Chao Wen,Yanmin Zhou 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.8

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate effects of heat treatment and soybean oil inclusion on protein oxidation of soy protein isolate (SPI) and of oxidized protein on redox status of broilers at an early age. Methods: SPI mixed with soybean oil (SPIO) heated at 100°C for 8 h was used to evaluate protein oxidation of SPI. A total of two hundred and sixteen 1-day-old Arbor Acres chicks were divided into 3 groups with 6 replicates of 12 birds, receiving basal diet (CON), heat-oxidized SPI diet (HSPI) or mixture of SPI and 2% soybean oil diet (HSPIO) for 21 d, respectively. Results: Increased protein carbonyl, decreased protein sulfhydryl of SPI were observed as heating time increased in all treatments (p<0.05). Addition of 2% soybean oil increased protein carbonyl of SPI at 8 h heating (p<0.05). Dietary HSPI and HSPIO decreased the average daily gain of broilers as compared with the CON (p<0.05). Broilers fed HSPI and HSPIO exhibited decreased glutathione (GSH) in serum, catalase activity and total sulfhydryl in liver and increased malondialdehyde (MDA) and protein carbonyl in serum, advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs) in liver and protein carbonyl in jejunal mucosa as compared with that of the CON (p<0.05). Additionally, broilers receiving HSPIO showed decreased glutathione peroxidase activity (GSH-Px) in serum, GSH and hydroxyl radical scavenging capacity in liver, GSH-Px activity in duodenal mucosa, GSH-Px activity and superoxide anion radical scavenging capacity in jejunal mucosa and increased AOPPs in serum, MDA and protein carbonyl in liver, MDA and AOPPs in jejunal mucosa (p<0.05). Conclusion: Protein oxidation of SPI can be induced by heat and soybean oil and oxidized protein resulted in redox imbalance in broilers at an early age.

Mediation analysis of leisure activities on the association between cognitive function and mortality: longitudinal study of 42,942 Chinese adults 65 years and older

        Chen Xingxing,Zhang Xian,Long Tingxi,Wu Wenfan,Hu Rundong,Jin Xurui,Yan Lijing L,Yao Yao,Wenyu Zhu 한국역학회 2022 Epidemiology and Health Vol.44 No.-

OBJECTIVES: Previous studies have established associations of cognitive function and leisure activities with mortality. This study aimed to evaluate whether leisure activities causally mediate these associations. METHODS: This longitudinal study included 42,246 participants aged over 65 years from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey. The Mini-Mental State Examination and a self-reported scale were used to measure cognitive status and leisure activities, respectively. We examined the associations of cognitive function and leisure activities with mortality using Cox proportional hazards models. Causal mediation analysis was used to assess whether leisure activities mediated the association between cognitive function and mortality. RESULTS: Cognitive function and leisure activities were inversely associated with mortality. Leisure activities accounted for 28.3% (95% confidence interval [CI], 25.6 to 31.1) of the total effect (TE) of cognitive function and mortality. A higher mediated proportion (PM) was observed for physical leisure activities (PM, 20.1%; 95% CI, 18.0 to 22.3) than for social leisure activities (PM, 17.7%; 95% CI, 15.7 to 19.7). The mediating effect was higher among participants at younger ages (PM, 41.5%; 95% CI, 21.3 to 65.4), those with higher education levels (PM, 30.5%; 95% CI, 25.3 to 36.2), and residents of rural China (PM, 42.5%; 95% CI, 25.4 to 62.5). CONCLUSIONS: Cognitive function was associated with inverse mortality. Leisure activities significantly mediated this association. Participation in leisure activities at the early stages of mild cognitive impairment could reduce the risk of mortality, which has a major impact on interventional strategies for healthy aging.

      • SERS study of Ag/FeS/4-MBA interface based on the SPR effect

        Ma, Ning,Zhang, Xin-Yuan,Fan, Wenyue,Guo, Shuang,Zhang, Yongjun,Liu, Yang,Chen, Lei,Jung, Young Mee Elsevier 2019 Spectrochimica acta. Part A, Molecular and biomole Vol.219 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this work, an ordered metal-semiconductor molecular system was introduced, and 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBA) was employed to study the charge transfer (CT) at the metal-semiconductor interface based on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra. The thickness of the sputtered FeS was controlled so that the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of Ag underwent a displacement change, and the contribution of the SPR to the CT was studied through surface plasmon (SP) absorption. Furthermore, SERS spectra obtained at different excitation wavelengths were used to calculate the degree of CT in the layer-by-layer sputtering system. When Ag was irradiated with incident light, the strong SPR of Ag was excited, generating an increased electromagnetic field (EM). This amplified EM generated hot electrons at the interface between the FeS and Ag, and then the hot electrons were rearranged. Therefore, we established a simple and effective method for studying the impact of SPR on interfacial CT and analyzed the SERS spectra in accordance with Lombardi's basic theory and the physical effects associated with SPR. This theory is in good agreement with the experimental results. On this basis, we also proposed a mechanism by which SPR impacts the CT, which is beneficial for studying interfacial CT and obtaining an in-depth understanding of the CT mechanism in SERS. This work also enables the expansion of the applications of the SERS technique in the field of nanomaterials.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> SERS substrate was designed based on the layer-by-layer sputtering of Ag/FeS. </LI> <LI> 4-MBA was employed to study the CT at the metal-semiconductor interface. </LI> <LI> The SPR of Ag promotes the electron transfer process of the Ag/FeS/4-MBA system. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>In this paper, we designed a layer-by-layer sputtering of Ag and FeS on the PS template. Multi‑condition dynamic model control strategy of the direct drive motor of electric vehicles based on PIO–LightGBM algorithm

        Fang Xie,Wenyu Zhang,Mengyuan Shen,Jinqiang Zhang 전력전자학회 2023 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.23 No.3

Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is widely used in new energy vehicles. At present, to make electric vehicles have a wider speed range, the motor can reach the rated speed above through the field-weakening control. However, when the traditional field-weakening control strategy is above the rated speed, the dynamic response ability of the vehicle declines. Problems such as torque oscillation and current jump occur. To solve these problems, based on a pigeon-inspired optimization (PIO) algorithm and optimized light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM), the dynamic response capability of the permanent magnet synchronous motor is improved. The robust adaptability of the control system to disturbances and parameter changes is also further improved. By collecting experimental data, the importance of relevant variables is analyzed, and the variable with the largest weight is selected as the input of the model. PIO is used to optimize LightGBM, and the loss function is optimized. Finally, the regression model is established. Simulation and experimental results show that the method is effective.
