Background/Aims There are increasing evidences for gastrointestinal motility disorder (GIMD) and gastric stress ulcer induced by noise stress. The present study was to investigate the reversed effect of melatonin on GIMD and gastric stress ulcer induced by noise stress and potential mechanism. Methods Noise stress was induced on rats, and melatonin (15 mg/kg) was administered to rats by intraperitoneal injection. Differences were assessed in gastric residual rate (GRR), small intestine propulsion rate (SPR), Guth injury score, cortisol, gastrointestinal hormones (calcitonin-gene-related peptide and motilin) and oxidative stress markers (superoxide dismutase and malondialde hyde) in blood plasma as well as gastric mucosa homogenate with or without melatonin. The pathological examination of gastric mucosa was also performed. Results The GRR and SPR were improved by noise stress compared with control (P < 0.05). The pathological examination and Guth injury score revealed gastric stress ulcer. Moreover, the levels of cortisol, motilin and malondialdehyde in blood plasma and malondialdehyde in gastric mucosa homogenate were increased by noise stress (P < 0.05). CGRP and superoxide dismutase activity in both of blood plasma and gastric mucosa homogenate were significantly decreased (P< 0.05). Furthermore, melatonin reversed changes in GRR, SPR, pathological examination, Guth injury score, cortisol, motilin, CGRP, superoxide dismutase activity and malondialdehyde (P < 0.05). Conclusions Melatonin is effective in reversing the GIMD and gastric stress ulcer induced by noise stress. The underlying mechanism may be involved in oxidative stress and gastrointestinal hormones. Introduction As one of the main yield components, grain number per panicle (GNP) played critical role in the rice yield improvement. The identification of natural advantageous variations under different situations will promote the sustainable genetic improvement in rice yield. Objectives This study was designed to identify natural genotypes in a rice mini-core collection, to examine the genotypic effects across the indica and japonica genetic background in different environments, and excavating the superior genotypes that had drove the modern genetic improvement. Methods The association mapping of GNP was carried out using a mini-core collection including 154 indica and 119 japonica accessions in seven different environments. Genotypic effects of each genotype for each QTL were calculated and genotype frequency distortion between the commercial rice cultivars and landraces was screened by χ2-test. Results In total, 74 QTLs containing stable and sensitive QTLs in various environments were detected. Within them, 20 positive and 24 negative genotypes in indica, and 24 positive and 16 negative genotypes in japonica were identified. When checking the accumulation of positive genotypes identified in indica across cultivars in each of the two subspecies, it indicated that increased number of positive genotypes identified in indica results in the substantially increased GNP in both indica and japonica across all of the environments, while this trend was not obvious for the positive genotypes identified in japonica especially in short day environments. Moreover, the positive and negative genotype frequency distortion between the landraces and commercial rice cultivars indicated that both positive selection of positive genotypes and negative selection of negative genotypes had driven the genetic improvement on GNP. Conclusion Our findings suggested that the accumulation of positive genotypes and purifying negative genotypes played equivalently important roles in the improvement of rice yield, but the efficient use for some QTLs or genotypes depends on the comprehensive evaluation of their effect under diverse genetic backgrounds and environments.
Diagnostic value of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound Parametric Imaging in Breast Tumors

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of SonoLiver software for parametric imaging in breast tumors. Methods: Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) was performed in 216 breast lesions (113 malignant, 103 benign). The CEUS parameters were compared between benign and malignant lesions. The rise time, the time to peak, the mean transit time and dynamic vessel pattern (DVP) were analyzed using SonoLiver software. Results: Quantitative analysis showed that the rise time was 16.52±4.15 seconds in the benign group vs. 13.86±3.36 seconds in the malignant group (p=0.007), and the time to peak was 19.86±4.87 seconds in the benign group vs. 16.52±4.85 seconds in the malignant group (p=0.009). The mean transit time was 80.55±18.65 seconds in the benign group vs. 65.16±20.28 seconds in the malignant group (p=0.006). The difference between the distribution of DVP in benign and malignant tumors was statistically significant. One hundred one malignant tumors (89.4%) performed an irregular red/yellow fill in the region of interest (ROI) and 85 benign tumors (82.5%) performed a single blue/green fill in the ROI. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of parametric imaging in breast tumors were 84.1%, 85.4%, 84.7%, respectively. Conclusion: The CEUS parametric imaging can distinguish differences between malignant and benign breast tumors as well as provide diagnostic information on breast lesions.

Comprehensive utilization of zinc smelting iron slag not only solves environmental problems but also creates huge economic benefits. This study was conducted on the enrichment and recovery of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ from zinc smelting iron slag by superconducting HGMS technology. Several variables such as slurry flow velocity, slag concentration, magnetic field intensity and the amount of dispersing agent were tested in magnetic separation. In the experiments, obtained optimal magnetic separation parameters were 1.60 T of magnetic flux intensity, 600 mL/min of slurry flow velocity of, 15 g/L of slag concentration of, 0.10 g/L of dispersing agent. Under this condition, the content of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ was increased from 86.22% to 94.39% that can approach the Chinese national standard requirements (A level) of iron oxide red. It was concluded that using superconducting HGMS technology was an effective method for the purification of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ from zinc smelting iron slag.
Tier-based Proactive Path Selection Mode for Wireless Mesh Networks

In the draft of the IEEE 802.11s standard, a tree topology is established by the proactive tree-building mode of the Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol (HWMP). It is used for cases in which the root station (e.g., gateway) is an end point of the majority of the data connections. In the tree topology, the root or central stations (e.g., parent stations) are connected to the other stations (e.g., leaves) that are one level lower than the central station. Such mesh stations are likely to suffer heavily from contention in bottleneck links when the network has a high traffic load. Moreover, the dependence of the network on such stations is a point of vulnerability. A failure of the central station (e.g., a crash or simply going into sleep mode to save energy) can cripple the whole network in the tree topology. This causes performance degradation for end-to-end transmissions. In a connected mesh topology where the stations having two or more radio links between them are connected in such a way that if a failure subsists in any of the links, the other link could provide the redundancy to the network. We propose a scheme to utilize this characteristic by organizing the network into concentric tiers around the root mesh station. The tier structure facilitates path recovery and congestion control. The resulting mode is referred to as Tier-based Proactive Path Selection Mode (TPPSM). The performance of TPPSM is compared with the proactive tree mode of HWMP. Simulation results show that TPPSM has better performance.
Text Categorization for Authorship based on the Features of Lingual Conceptual Expression

The text categorization is an important field for the automatic text information processing. Moreover, the authorship identification of a text can be treated as a special text categorization. This paper adopts the conceptual primitives`` expression based on the Hierarchical Network of Concepts (HNC) theory, which can describe the words meaning in hierarchical symbols, in order to avoid the sparse data shortcoming that is aroused by the natural language surface features in text categorization. The KNN algorithm is used as computing classification element. Then, the experiment has been done on the Chinese text authorship identification. The experiment result gives out that the processing mode that is put forward in this paper achieves high correct rate, so it is feasible for the text authorship identification.
Hilbert-Huang Transformation based Solar Light Noise Suppression Method

Solar light noise, as the main part of channel noise in outdoor visible light communication (VLC) system, would easily saturate the photon-detector, and dramatically decrease the outdoor VLC system performance. A Hilbert-Huang Transformation based solar light noise suppression method is proposed in this paper, a background light noise measurement system is also designed and implemented to verify the noise suppression method's performance. And the measurement result shows that it could effectively reduce the solar light noise, and improve the VLC system’s stability and reliability.
