      • 足三里의 電鍼刺戟이 흰쥐의 中樞神經系에서 Interleukin-6의 活性에 미치는 影響 - 求心性 體感覺 情報傳達을 中心으로- : 求心性 體感覺 情保傳達을 중심으로

        Objectives : Acupuncture is expected to have somewhat like the efficacy parallel increasing activity of immune system in Western modern medicine. There, already, are many animal researches on activating effect of acupuncture for the immune system in peripheral organs. So, we carried out this experiment to see whether acupuncture has controlling effect on interleukin-6(IL-6) activity in rat's brain. Methods and Results : We had topical application of IL-6(1U-1pg, 10㎕) on brain of rat. It reduced afferent sensory transmission to the primary somatosensory(SI) cortex from periphery. Whereas, electrical stimulation(ES, 2Hz, 1.5V, 15min) of ST36(足三里) with application of IL-6 prominently activated afferent sensory transmission. ES of non-acupoint(proximal tail) with IL-6 showed suppression of afferent transmission. ES of ST36 without IL-6 application also exerted facilitation of afferent transmission to the SI cortex. Conclusions : Electoacupuncture(EA) on ST36 has noticeable influences on modulating activation of IL-6 in central nervous system, which do major role in immune system.

      • Sulfadimethoxine 투여에 의해 유발된 갑상선 증식성 병변에 나타난 피막 섬유화의 병리학적 특성

        Sulfadimethoxine (SM) is one of the anti-thyroid (goitrogenic) agents and has a thyroid tumor promoting effects. In this study, we analyzed the pathology of SM induced thyroid proliferative lesions to see if these lesions showed any distinctive features. Five-week-old male F344 rats were given a single subcutaneous injection of N-bis(2-hydroxypropyl)nitrosamine (DHPN: 2800㎎/㎏, body weight). Starting one week thereafter, SM (1000 ppm in drinking water) was administered for 12 weeks. All animals were autopsied and histopathological observation of the thyroids was perfomed. Thyroid follicular proliferative lesions were induced in all rats treated with SM. In addition, the formation of thick perithyroidal fibrous capsule and pleomorphic follicles within the capsule were observed. These pleomorphic follicles showed invasive figure in some area, especially around follicular adenomas and adenocarcinomas. This confuses adenoma with adenocarcinoma. However, pleomorphic follicles were also observed in the area without adenomas and adenocarcinomas. Therefore, we suggest that it should be careful to diagnose adenoma and adenocarcinoma in the presence of the invasive lesions in surrounding fibrous tissue, especially SM induced thyroid lesion.

      • 농장 사육되는 타조에서 나타난 다리 기형의 증례 보고

        Two farmed young ostrich chicks were applied to pathology laboratory at Chungnam National University. Grossly, one ostrich showed rotated tibiotarsus, the other showed rolled toes. Case 1 ostrich was hypertrophy of fibualis longus and tibial cranialis tendon and gastrocnemius tendon in crus, inflammation of flexor digitorum longus. In histopathological views, myocytes of fiburalis longus were showed hypertrophy and hyperplasia. It is not found any specific feature in X-ray of the case 2 ostrich. Limb deformities were detected frequently in farmed ostrich chicks in 2- to 3 weeks old. Limb deformities were an important cause of mortality in farmed ostrich chicks during the first 10weeks after hatch. Cause of limb deformities were considered a nutrition problem.

        Pilomatricoma was histopathologically diagnosed in a 2.5-year-old male Alaskan malamute. The patient was referred to Chungnam National University, Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital with solitary, firm and well-circumscribed mass at shoulder. Grossly, the mass was dome shaped to tumor like and 10 x 8 x 5㎝ in size. Some lesions had gritty or bony consistency and was chalky when sectioned Histopathologic feature included mumerous clusters of tightly arranged, basaloid cells with evenly distributed chromatin and ghost cells were characterized by a central unstained zone. The ghost cells often become calcified and osseous metaplasia was also present.

      • 조혈모세포이식 후 골성장인자의 변화 및 골대사에 미치는 영향 : Impact on Bone Mineral Metabolism

        연구배경: 각종 장기이식의 시행이 많아지고 이식 후 생존율이 증가함에 따라 이식 후 합병증에 대한 관심 또한 높아지고 있다. 조혈모세포이식 후에도 다양한 내분비적 합병증이 발생할 수 있으며 골격에 대한 합병증도 문제점으로 대두되고 있다. 조혈모세포 이식 후 발생하는 골소실에는 이식 후 초기의 골형성 저하와 골흡수 증가가 중요한 역할을 담당하리라고 추측되는데 이러한 골재형성불일치(biochemical uncoupling)에 골 성장인자들이 미치는 영향에 대해서는 알려진 바가 없다. 본 연구에서는 조혈모세포이식 전, 후로 말초 혈액에서 IGF-I, FGF-2, M-CSF같은 성장인자의 변화를 알아보고, 이들 성장인자의 변화가 조혈모세포이식 후의 골형과 골흡수에 미치는 영향 및 이식 후 발생되는 골량 소실과의 연관성을 확인해 보고자 하였다. 방법: 여러 가지 혈액질환으로 인해 동종 골수이식을 시행 받은 환자들을 전향적으로 관찰하였으며 이식 전 및 이식 후 1주, 2주, 3주, 4주 및 3개월, 6개월 1년에 말초 혈액에서 골교체표지자를 측정하였다. 이식 전 및 이식1년 후에 요추골 및 대퇴골 골밀도를 측정할 수 있었던 36명의 환자들을 대상으로 냉동 보관되어 있던 혈청을 이용하여 IGF-I, FGF-2 및 M-CSF를 시기별로 측정하였으며 이들 성장인자와 골교체표지자의 변화 및 골밀도 변화 사이의 상관관계를 확인하였다. 결과: 골흡수 표지자인 혈청 ICTP는 이식 전에 비해 이식 후 4주까지 점차 의의 있게 증가하다가 이후 6개월까지 더욱 증가한 후 감소하였다. 골형성 표지자인 osteocalcin은 이식 후 3주까지는 점차 감소하다가 이후 증가하여 이식 후 3개월 및 6개월에 기저치보다 통계적으로 유의하게 증가한 후 감소하였다. 혈청 IGF-I과 FGF-2는 각각 이식 후 3주 및 1주까지 의미있게 감소하다가 이후 증가하였으며 혈청 M-CSF는 이식 후 1주째에 기저치에 비해 의미 있게 증가하였다가 이후 기저치로 회복되었다. 이식 1년 후 평균 요추부 골밀도는 5.2% 감소하였고 평균 근위대퇴골 골밀도는 11.6% 감소하였다. 이식 전 및 이식 후 3주에 측정한 IGF-I과 같은 시기에 측정한 오스테오칼신 사이에 유의한 상관관계가 관찰되었으며 이식 후 3주째의 M-CSF와 골흡수표지자인 M-CSF 사이에서 의미 있는 양의 상관관계를 관찰할 수 있었다. 이식 후 3주 및 3개월에 IGF-I이 낮은 환자일수록 이식 1년 후 근위대퇴골에서의 골소실이 많은 것으로 분석되었다. 결론: 조혈모세포이식 후 발생하는 골소실에는 기존에 알려진 기저질환의 영향, 성호르몬의 감소, 면역억제의 투여, 골수기질세포와 조골세포의 손상 및 이식초기 사이토카인의 변화이외에도 골성장인자가 관련이 있음을 확인하였고, 이는 이식 후 발생되는 골량소실에 중요한 역할을 할 것이라고 사료된다. Background: A loss of bone mass is usually detected after a bone marrow transplantation (BMT), especially during the early post-transplant period. We recently reported that enhanced bone resorption following a BMT was related to both the steroid dose and the increase in IL-6. We also suggested damage to the marrow stromal microenvironment, by myoablation, partly explains the impaired bone formation following a BMT. It is well known that some growth factor play important role in bone growth and osteogenesis. However, the pathogenetic role of bone growth factors in post-BMT bone loss is unknown and data on the changes in the growth factors, in accordance with bone turnover markers and bone mineral density (BMD) changes are scarce. We investigated changes in bone growth factors such as IGF-I (Insulin-like growth factor-I), fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) and Macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF), during the post-BMT period, and assessed whether the growth factor changes influenced the bone turnover and post-BMT bone loss. The present study is the first prospective study to describe the changes in bone growth factors following a BMT. Methods: We prospectively investigated 110 patients undergoing a BMT, and analyzed 36 patients (32.4±1.3 years, 17 men and 19 women) whose BMDs were measured before, and 1 year after, the BMT. The serum biochemical markers of bone turnover were measured before, 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks, 3 and 6 months, and 1 year, after the BMT. The serum, FGF-2, IGF-I and M-CSF levels were measured before and 1 and 3 weeks, and 3 months after the BMT. The correlation between the changes of growth factors and various bone parameters was analyzed. Results: The mean bone losses in the lumbar spine and total proximal femur, calculated as the percentage change from the baseline to the level at 1 year, were 5.2(p<0.05) and 11.6%(p<0.01), respectively. the serum type I carboxyterminal telopeptide(ICTP), a bone resorption marker, increased progressively until 6 months after the BMT, but thereafter decreased, to the base value after 1 year. Serum osteocalcin, a bone formation marker, decreased progressively, until 3 weeks after the BMT but then increased transiently, and finally returned to the base level at 1 year. The serum IGF-I and FGF-2 also decreased progressively until 3 weeks 1 week after the BMT, respectively, then increased to the base values at 3 months. The serum M-CSF increased briskly at 1 week post-BMT, then decreased to the base level. There were positive correlations between the percentage changes from the baseline proximal femur BMD and the IGF-I levels 3 weeks and 3 months (r=0.52, p<0.01, r=0.41, p<0.05) post BMT. A significant correlation was found between the IGF-I and osteocalcin levels pre-BMT, and 3 weeks after the BMT. Another positive correlation was found between the M-CSF and the ICTP levels at 3 weeks post BMT (r=0.54, p<0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, there were significant changes in the serum IGF-I, FGF-2 and M-CSF levels in the immediate post-BMT period, which were related to a decrease in bone formation and loss in the proximal femoral BMD during the year following the BMT (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 17:664∼674, 2002).

        노인의 공간 연구에 나타난 색채 연구 경향 분석

        우리나라에서 노인의 공간 관련 연구는 상당한 기간을 통해 다양하게 이루어지고, 양적으로 많이 집적되어 있는 상태이지만 연구 동향에 대한 체계적인 분석과 정리는 아직 이루어지지 않고 있는 실정이다. 이는 실버산업의 거대화, 복지정책, 디자인, 마케팅 등이 분화되어 연구되었으며 연구가 분야별로 이루어지는 경향이 있고, 연구논문도 매우 많은 학술지에 산재되어 있기 때문이기도 하다. 또한 노인의 공간 관련 연구는 계획 및 설계에 있어서의 색채연구가 미흡하다. 따라서 노인의 공간 연구에 나타난 색채 연구를 체계적으로 정리함으로써 노인의 공간 색채에 관한 국내 연구의 대상 및 내용과 방법을 밝히고, 향후 노인을 위한 공간 색채 연구의 시사점을 이끌어내고자 하였다. 국내학술지 논문들을 대상, 내용, 방법으로 구분하여 분석한 결과 첫째, 1995~2014년까지 노인을 대상으로 한 연구가 꾸준히 이어지고 있다. 둘째, 실내공간의 주거환경에 대한 물리적 환경 분석에 관한 색채연구가 가장 많이 이루어지고 있다. 셋째, 특정지역의 사례분석이 상당수였으며, 기초연구보다 실무중심의 연구가 주류를 이룬 것으로 해석된다. 넷째, 공간에 있어서 대상 및 내용이 편협하여, 다양한 공간의 연구와 취약계층을 배려하는 유니버설 디자인 관점에서의 색채연구가 이루어져야겠다. 다섯째, 공간 현황파악에 연구가 편중되어 있으며, 이 때문에 색채 이론 및 원리의 경시로 이어지고 있어 학문의 토대를 다질 수 있는 체계적인 연구가 필요하다. 여섯째, 공간의 용도와 목적에 부합하는 시설 및 환경에 대한 지속적인 연구가 필요하다. Studies related to the space for the elderly in Korea have been diversely undertaken through a significant period of time with substantial quantitative accumulation. However, the systematic analysis and arrangement on the study trend has yet to be undertaken. This is attributable to the fact that the silver industry has been enlarged with the classified studies for welfare policies, designs, marketing and so forth as well as the trend of having the studies undertaken in respective field. And furthermore, its research theses are scattering around a number of academic journals. In addition, the space-related studies of the elderly are lacking the color studies with respect to planning and design. Therefore, this study is aimed at summarizing the color studies appearing in the spatial studies of the elderly in a way of indicating the subject of studies in Korea along with its contents and method and bringing out the implications in spatial color studies. As a result of classifying the academic theses in Korea by subjects, contents and methods, first, studies on the elderly have been steadily made during 1995~2014. Second, the color studies on physical environmental analysis on residential environment for internal space have been made the most. Third, a significant number was on case analyses in specific areas and it is attributable to have the main lines of practice-oriented studies rather than base studies. Fourth, subjects and contents for space were narrowly undertaken that the color studies have to be made under the universal design point of view to consider vulnerable classes along with the studies in diverse fields. Fifth, studies oriented to find out the status have been focused narrowed that it led to neglect the color theories and principles that require systematic studies to lay down the foundation of academic studies. And, sixth, there is a need for continuous study on facilities and environment appropriate to the spatial use and purpose.

        속단(續斷) 추출물의 C57BL/6 마우스를 이용한 2주 경구투여 독성시험

        Objectives : A root of Dipsacus asperoides C. Y. Cheng et T. M. Ai (D. asperoides) has been traditionally used as a medicinal resource in several Asian countries, including Korean and traditional Chinese medicine that has been traditionally used for treating several medical conditions including pain, arthritis, and bone fractures in Korea. In the present study, we investigated potential subacute toxicities of D. asperoides extract. Methods : C57BL/6 mice (male, 7weeks) were randomly divided into 4 groups of 5 mice. Except for the control group, the mice were orally administrated D. asperoides extract at doses of 50, 150, or 450 mg/kg/day for 2 weeks. At the end of the treatment period, all mice were euthanized, and the following parameters were examined: mortality, body weight, clinical signs, gross findings, hematology, serum biochemistry, organ weight, and histopathology. Results : There were no abnormalities in mortality, clinical signs, body weight, gross findings, or organ weight after repeated administration of D. asperoides extract for 2 weeks, compared with the control group. In addition, there were no significant changes in hematological, serum biochemical, and histopathological parameters between the control group and D. asperoides extract administrated groups with doses of up to 450 mg/kg/day. Conclusion : In this study, D. asperoides extract showed no significant toxicities at a dose of up to 450 mg/kg/day in mice. Although we could not confirm the toxic dose of D. asperoides extract, it can be considered safe for further pharmacological use.
