The systematic studies on the esophageal branchs originated from the left gastric artery and other arterial branches of the celiac artery system were relatively few. This investigation was untertaken to find out the modus of the origins and distributions with their variants of the esophageal branches based upon 418 dissections of Korean fetuses, which were injected with 8% vinylite solution added 3% fast red B in acetone. The results were summerized as follows: 1. The number of the esophageal branches was from one to six branches and the cases which had two esopageal branches were most abundant. 2. The esophageal branches originated from the left gastric artery were appeared most abundant and the next orders were from the accessory left gastric, accessory left hepatic and the replaced left hopatic arteries. 3. The esophageal branches originated from the celiac artery, common hepatic artery, the splenic artery and the abdominal aorta were appeared few.

Under various status of fixation, washing, substrates and incubation, several conditions for an application of enzyme-labeled antibody method to localize LH in the rat pituitary gland were obtained and discussed. Bouin's solution could preserve endogenous LH most effectively after a longer duration of fixation and washing than that requires ordinarilly. Intense reactions of the specific LH cells were observed with 3, 3'-diaminobenzidine as a substrate, while a-naphthol and 4-Cl-l-naphthol showed lower intensity in either of specific cells or nonspecific backgrounds. The most and the only adequate concentration to reveal the intense staining was found at 0.001% of hydrogen peroxide in substrate solution. Residual of fixative chemicals in the tissue, higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide and longer incubation in substrate solution may act as a factor or factors to develop nonspecific staining of background tissue.

Schisandra chinensis (Omija) is a well-known medicinal plant in East Asia. In this study, Omija oligosaccharide syrup was prepared from sucrose with Omija fruit extract using two glucansucrases of Leuconostoc mesenteroides B-512F/KM and L. mesenteroides B-1355CF10/KM. The degree of polymerization of Omija oligosaccharide syrup was ranged from 2 − 13 by MALDI-TOF–MS analysis. Compared to the Omija syrup, the Omija oligosaccharide syrup reduced 61% calories based on the enzymatic gravimetric method. It also reduced up to 96% insoluble glucan formation from sucrose by mutansucrase of Streptococcus mutans at 500 mg/mL. Additionally, it has 1.78-fold higher oxygen radical absorbance capacity value compared to Omija syrup. Using electronic tongue sensor system, Omija oligosaccharide syrup showed decreased sourness, astringency, and saltiness compared to Omija syrup. Thus, Omija oligosaccharides can be used as functional sweetener in nutraceutical industries.
