Since 2011, Chungwoon University that was founded in 1995 has endeavored to reorganize UI with aims to enhance competitiveness and further self-esteem and concentrate on investing in development of UI products so that it can open its second campus in Dohwa in Incheon. Although many kinds of products can be developed through the application of UI, there are few kinds of campus-wear, so a growing number of people find it necessary to develop diversified campus wear. Accordingly, this study aimed to suggest design development of campus-wear through the use of UI of Chungwoon University. The results of the study are as follows. First, results of survey on the actual conditions of campus-wear to which UIs of domestic and foreign universities were applied indicate that 10 universities at home and abroad sell 20 types of campus-wear items. And they number 740. As for jointly developed campus-wear items, round-necked short-sleeved T-shirts numbered 265, hooded T-shirts 90, round-necked long-sleeved T-shirts 60 and hooded zip-up T-shirts 51. Symbolic colors of universities were frequently used. Cotton and cotton-and-polyester mixed fabric were mostly used. Second, design development of campus-wear based on Chungwoon University UI was divided into Classic Group, Semi-Trendy Group and Trendy Group. The three groups jointly developed 9 items, and a total of 27 items were made. Main colors of universities such as blue, white, grey and black were frequently used. Six types of fabric including cotton, polyester and cotton-and-polyester mixed fabric were used. Embroidery and patchworks were applied. Suggestion of design development of campus-wear to which UI is applied is considered to induce manufacture of campus clothes as a part of UIP policy that concentrates on enhancing self-respect and a sense of belonging on the part of students and the teaching staff of Chungwoon University and improving the image and status of the university.

The study aims to apply the aesthetic properties of costume in the Goguryeo era so that costume design with a Korean image appropriate to ramie fabric can be developed, and the combination and creation of completed costume design items can be suggested. The findings of the study are as follows. First, through an examination of the aesthetic characteristics of ramie fabric and the formal features of costume in the Goguryeo era, transparent, creased and stiff ramie fabric were found to have aesthetic characteristics in which traditional material can be modernly expressed. Based on formative features in the Goguryeo era, diversity of linear silhouette, linear detail and other details were discovered. In terms of the formal characteristics of costume in the Goguryeo era, if the costume is made with ramie fabric, its features can be better expressed, and the characteristics can be classified into initiative, flexibility and magnanimity. Second, costume design with a Korean image appropriate to ramie material to which the aesthetic characteristics of costume in the Goguryeo era are applied was developed and classified into ‘Initiative Group’, ‘Flexibility Group’ and ‘Magnanimity Group’. Target consumers are women in their 30s to 50s. Developed items number 15, and five types of costume such as tops, jackets, one-piece dresses, skirts and pants were designed based on the three groups. After developing the designs for 15 items, changes were made in color-blocking applied to 1 to 3 items each, and a total of 50 items were developed. Hansan ramie fabric was used, and white, grey and black were applied as the main colors. In terms of the details, hem line, pleats, tuck, color blocking, belt and strings were used. Third, with regard to the combination and display of completed costume design items within groups, a total of 8 cases including 3 cases in the Initiative Group, 2 cases in the Flexibility Group and 3 cases in the Magnanimity Group were suggested. A total of 16 cases of inter-group combination and display were suggested. The result of the study are expected to provide momentum that will bring us closer to popularizing, facilitating and globalizing costume with a Korean image and Korean traditional ramie fabric.

Aplastic anemia (AA) is a serious hematologic disease characterized by hypocellular bone marrow and deficient production of erythrocytes, granulocytes and platelets. Serious complications such as uncontrolled bleeding and bacteremia can occur. A case of severe AA are presented with dental considerations. A 4-year-old boy had been referred from Seoul National University Hospital for dental examination before the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Treatments were planned under general anesthesia, due to the poor compliance. Following medical consult, dental treatments were performed after platelet transfusion and antibiotic prophylaxis. Postoperatively, neither significant bleeding nor complictation was observed. On the time of the treatment planning. the anesthesiologist and dentist should perform a complete hematological assessment. It is imperative not only platelet counts but also other leukocyte counts are under safe boundaries. It is mandatory to follow strict aseptic precautios for all anesthetic and surgical maneuvers. In severe thrombocytopenic patients, platelet transfusion should be considered. Also, it is recommended to establish a good oral hygiene.
