        간배양 HepG2 세포의 지질대사에 미치는 Hesperidin 및 Naringin의 영향

        The effects of citrus flavonoids, hesperidin and naringin, on the lipid metabolism were investigated in cultured human hepatocyte HePG2 cells. HepG2 cells were cultured for 6 h and 24 h to the control medium or the media containing hespridin and narigin, which concentrations were 0.5 and 5.0 mg/$m\ell$. There were no significant effects on cell proliferation and cellular protein content, except for increased in these parameters by adding both citrus flavonoids (0.5 mg/$m\ell$). The cellular content of triacylglycerol after 6 h incubation with 0.5 mg/$m\ell$ hesperidin and naringin was markedly increased, and after 24 h incubation that was decreased in both citrus flavonoids supplementation. The supplementation of 5.0 mg/$m\ell$ hesperidin caused a marked decrease in the cellular cholesterol content following 6 h incubation, and that was also reduced markdly, in a dose-dependent manner, during incubation for 24 h. However, there was no significant difference in the cellular cholesterol content in medium supplemented with naringin. The effect of hesperidin and naringin on acyl-CoA: cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) activity was studied in vivo and in vitro. The data confirmed that hesperidin inhibit ACAT activity in vivo and in vitro, whereas naringin had no such effect on ACAT activity in vivo but not in vitro. The present study suggests that hesperidin reduces the cellular triacyglycerol and cholesterol contents in human hepatocyte HepG2 cells.

        노인성 어지럼증에서 노인들에 맞춘 전정재활운동의 효과

        Background and Objectives Recently, The number of patients who have been complaining of the vertigo or dizziness has been increasing due to rapid growth of the elderly population and senile change. Aging is associated with decreased balance abilities, resulting in an increased risk of fall. The purpose of this study is to analyze the result of elderly organized vestibular rehabilitation therapy for presbystasis. Materials and Methods A prospective study was performed on elderly population over sixty-five years. 148 dizzy patients who were admitted to Hallym University Medical Center. We recruited 64 consecutive patients with a diagnosis of presbystasis and treatment of rehabilitation. They were asked to complete the Korean vestibular disorders activities of daily living scale (K-VADL) for the functional aspect before and two to twelve weeks after elderly organized vestibular rehabilitation therapy. The result was analyzed by statistical methods. Results The K-VADL scores were decreased in patient of presbystasis compared with first questionnaire. There were statistically significant differences in the K-VADL scores between before and after rehabilitation therapy. Conclusion Most patients can effectively and safely utilize the modified vestibular rehabilitation therapy. Our results suggest that the vestibular rehabilitation therapy could provide a recovery for dizzy symptoms in presbystasis.

        대장샘암종에서예후인자로서의Fascin, MMP-9 과발현과 Proliferating Index에 대한 면역조직 화학적 연구

        Purpose: The malignant conversion of epithelial cells involves alterations in the expression and the function of cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesive systems that enable a switch to a migratory phenotype in tumor invasion and metastasis. Here, the author studies the prevalence and the potential clinical significance of fascin and Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) expression in relation to the progression of colon adenocarcinoma and of tumor cell proliferation as measured by using the topoisomerase II-α(Topo II-α) index. Methods: Relatively well-preserved paraffin-embedded tissues of 120 cases of colon adenocarcinomas were immunohistochemically stained for fascin, MMP-9, and Topo II-αexpression. A reaction was determined as being positive when more than 10% of the cells were positive for fascin, and/or MMP-9. The Topo II-αindex is defined as the positive number of tumor cells divided by the total number of tumor cells counted times 100. At least 1,000 cells were counted for this analysis. A χ2 test, by using Epi info 2000, for Fascin and/or MMP-9 and a two-sided test for the Topo II-αindex were employed with a significance of P<0.05. Results: Positive reactions for fascin and MMP-9 in colon adenocarcinomas were 44.2% and 56.7%, respectively. In clinically annotated tumors, fascin immunoreactivity was more common in tumors located in the right colon (P=0.014) and was associated with older age (>65 yr, P=0.028), tumor grading (P=0.009), and lymph node metastases (P=0.005). However, MMP-9 immunoreactivity was not statistically associated with age, gender, tumor stage, or lymph node metastases. Fascin expression was statistically associated with MMP-9 expression, especially for left colon adenocarcinomas (P=0.0032). Although the topo II-αproliferating index was associated with lymph node metastasis (P<0.01), this result was not statistically associated with Fascin or MMP-9 expression. Conclusion: Fascin expression may be closely linked with tumor grading and lymph node metastasis of more aggressive colon adenocarcinomas and partly associated with MMP-9 expression in tumor invasion. However, further studies of fascin expression as an independent prognostic factor are required for the determination of significant relationships with other clinicopathologic indices.       • 환기형 기관지경술을 이용한 기도내 이물의 진단과 치료

        Aspirated and ingested foreign bodies continue to present challenges to otolaryngologists. The major discussions were the accurate diagnosis and speedy, safe removal of foreign body. Many diagnostic tools have been tried and removal of foreign bodies has been facilitated by technical improvements with rod lens telescope, video endoscope, flexible fiberoendoscope and safer anesthesia. In spite of these advances, more than 3000 children's death occur per year in the world because of foreign bodies and untold number of parients survive with variable sequelae. In these study, 59 consecutive cases of children and adults with tracheobronchial foreign bodies were reviewed from 1992 to 2001. We studied the history, symptoms, ausculatory radiologic, bronchoscopic finding and post operative complications. 71% (42 cases in 59 cases) of patients had foreign body aspiration history or choking crisis. In 64% (38cases) cough was observed. 81% (48cases) had abnormal finding in chest auscultation and 78% in chest X-ray. Computed tomography was done in 12 cases, all were founded foreign body shadow. Main site of foreign body was right main bronchus (41%, 24cases) and most frequent foreign body was peanut (36% , 21cases) . 4 experienced ICU(intensive care unit) care. 2 cases were failed to remove foreign. In these cases 1 cases was improved by steroid therapy and physical therapy and the other was treated with thoracotomy. We concluded the morbidity and motality were much correlated with speedy decision making and experienced skill of operator.

      • 용융염 LiCl-KCl 내 포함된 LaCl3의 전기화학적 거동 특성

        Most of the Uranium and Tranceuranium(TRU) elements are recovered by spent-fuels-pyroprocess which is using electrorefining and electrowinning. The components of occured molten salt waste mainly consist of Actinide(Ac) elements and Lanthanide(Ln) elements. To lower radio-activity levels of the waste by excluding uranium and TRU elements, physicochemical behavior on Ac and Ln elements is required a priori. In this study, we conducted electrochemical measurements with LaCl3 solution in LiCl-KCl. For collection of the physicochemical data, cyclic-voltammetry and chronopotentiometry methods were used. We compared those diffusion coefficient values.

      • 수계 모델링을 이용한 곡교천 수질 예측

        Chungcheongnam-do is promoting the '2030 Urban Planning in Inju-myeon' project. Accordingly, water quality is expected to change if sewage from the construction of apartment buildings flows into the Kokgyo stream. Therefore, this study set up a scenario based on the construction of a sewage treatment plant and the 'gokgyo stream ecological river project'. Water quality modeling HAC-RAS and QUALKO2 were used to derive the concentration according to the scenario. As a result, water quality pollutants DO and BOD in the river increases when 'Inju 2030 Urban Planning' was carried out. When these projects are carried out, appropriate facilities should be provided such as 'expansion of sewage treatment plant' or 'development of ecological river stream' for reduce water pollutants.

      • 수계 모델링을 이용한 무한천 수질 예측

        The neighboring sites of the Muhan stream are distributed in the order of agriculture, one's post, and dwelling. The main pollutants of the Muhan stream are wastewater from factories as industrial waterways belonging to cities and settlements. For this reason, water quality model prediction and management is necessary to ensure the continuous supply of clean water needed for agricultural and forest residential areas. Therefore, BOD, DO, T-P, and T-N have been calculated using HEC-RAS and QUALKO2 under the prescribed scenario conditions for evaluating and analyzing of stream. The results showed that BOD and DO had no significant effect. The results exhibited that T-P increased to 'very poor' level when the pollutants are discharged from the selected 3km point sources. Due to the nature of the Muhan stream, T-P and T-N are not self-purification, so follow-up action seems necessary.
