        Background : In recent years gonorrhoea has been panendemic and remains one of the most common Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Method : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria Gonorrhoeae(PPNG), Ive have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1994, 168 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 109 (64,9% ) were PPNG. Conclustion : Our results suggests that the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is still increasing.

      • Solar urticaria in Korean patients

        Background: Solar urticaria (SU) is an uncommon type of photodermatoses characterized by erythematous wheal with pruritus after sunlight exposure, which shows a female predominance. Only a few studies to analyze the clinical features of SU were reported in Asia. Objectives: We aimed to analyze the clinical and photobiological characteristics of SU in Korea. Methods: We retrospectively investigated the medical records of patients with SU who visited the department of dermatology, Konkuk university medical center from January 2005 to January 2020. Results: Of a total of 44 patients, 36 (81.8%) were male and 8 (18.2%) were female. The mean age at onset was 17.6 years (range, 5-47) and the mean threshold time was 19.7 minutes. Among 32 patients who underwent phototesting, the action spectrum most commonly implicated was ultraviolet (UV) A only in 12 (37.5%), and then visible light (415nm) only was responsible for SU in 8 (25.0%). Three patients (9.4%) were induced by both UVA and visible light (415nm). Even 4 patients (12.5%) were triggered by only natural sunlight. Serum immunoglobulin E levels were measured in 33 patients, and 17 (51.5%) showed values higher than normal. The treatment most widely used were oral antihistamine (43.2%), followed by phototherapy (13.6%). Conclusion: SU is a rare photodermatosis in Korea, which shows a male preponderance. In this study, UVA and visible light (415nm) were predominant action spectrum of SU.

      • 입원 환자 영양검색 전산 프로그램 개발

        Background : About 30% of patients in the hospital are under nourishment. A large portion of people are undernourished when they are admitted to the hospital and in the majority of these, undernutrition develops further while in hospital. Patient-Generated subjective global assessment(PG-SGA), a method of nutritional assessment based on clinical judgment, has been widely used to assess the nutritional status of adults for both clinical and research purposes. Modified PG-SGA can be used as a nutrition screening tool, and a comprehensive nutrition assessment is desirable for those who are malnourished. The purpose of this study is to develop a simple, reliable and valid nutrition screening program(NSP). Methods : We applied the nutrition screening program(NSP) to adult inpatients who are at risk of malnutrition using the Modified Patient-Generated subjective global assessment(PG-SGA) and objective assessment(electrical medical record data). Results : Therefore simple and beneficial NSP is developed for patients with severe malnutrition. Using NSP. nutritional information of the severe malnutrition patient should be shared with the physicians and they should be taken care of by clinical dietitians to improve their nutritional status. Conclusion : The Modified PG-SGA and nutrition screening tool are simple, reliable and valid nutrition screening program(NSP).

      • 중첩현상과 제약상충

        This paper investigates the application styles in reduplication within the framework of Correspondence Theory(McCarthy & Prince, 1995a); normal application, overapplication, underapplication, and the emergence of the unmarked. In this paper, we argue that the application styles are results from the conflict of faithfulness constraints and well-formedness constraints. To explain reduplication, Generative Phonology(Chomsky & Halle, 1968) has assumed a mapping from underlying to surface forms. This idea of the grammar allows us to determine a single form from which it is possible to derive all shapes. In Correspondence Theory, which is based on Optimality Theory(McCarthy & Prince, 1993), however, the input-output mapping is determined by the interaction of faithfulness constraints and well-formedness constraints. This paper is organized as follows: In Section 1, we provide an introductory remark about this paper. In Section 2, we introduce Correspondence Theory(McCarthy & Prince, 1995a), and then argue that the application styles are results from the conflict of faithfulness constraints and well-formedness constraints. Section 3 is a concluding summary of this paper.

      • 고출력 CW Nd:YAG 레이저를 이용한 CSP 1N 박판재 절단시 공정변수의 절단표면특성에 미치는 영향

        The objective of this research work is to investigate the influence of process parameters, such as power of laser, travel speed of laser and material thickness, on roughness and striation of the cut surface for the case of cutting of CSP IN sheet using high power Nd:YAG laser with continuous wave (CW). In order to find the practical cutting region and the relationship between process parameters on the roughness and the striation, several laser cutting experiments are carried out. From the results of experiments, the allowable cutting region and an optimal cutting speed for each cutting condition have been obtained to improve the quality of the cut surface. In addition, it has been shown that the surface roughness is related to the number of striation and depth of valley of the cut surface.

      • Single Nucleotide Primer Extension 기법을 이용한 SNP 연구

        Single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) are the most frequent type of DNA sequence variation of individuals. They are defined by the presence of two alternative bases at a particular position in a DNA sequence and occur about one per 500-1000bp in the human genome. The recent completion of the first reference sequence of the human genome has provided a basis for comprehensive analysis of sequence variation in man. The identification and dense mapping of SNPs is of considerable significance for association studies of complex diseases, pharmacogenetics, population genetics and physical mapping. Their use as genetic markers is favored by their high abundance, low mutation rate and the easy automation of typing. With the development of ABI Prism 3100 or 3700 system, single nucleotide primer extension, we car get a straightforward and large-scale method for validation of or comparative genotyping of known SNPs and point mutations. In the mini sequencing primer extension reaction, a DNA polymerase is used specifically to extend a primer that anneals immediately adjacent to the nucleotide position to be analyzed with a single labeled nucleoside triphosphate complementary to the nucleotide at the variant site. The reactor allows highly specific detection of point mutations and single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) without direct sequencing. Because all SNPs can be analyzed with high specificity at the same reaction conditions, mini sequencing is a promising reaction principle for multiplex high-throughput genotyping assays. It is also a useful tool for accurate quantitative PCR-based analysis. This review discusses the advanced biotechnique.

        쿠퍼씨 방법을 이용한 상악 전방부 골절단술

        Anterior segmental osteotomy were performed in 8 patients with Angle's II malocclusion or anterior maxillary protrusion. Cupar's method was used for operation. The period of follow up for patients were 15months by average. This study discussed the postoperative complications and soft tissue change after anterior segmental maxillary osteotomy. There are not specific major complications.

      • 急速凝固한 高純度 Fe―C―Si合金중의 Carbide共晶의 過冷却凝固 시뮬레이션

        This paper decribes a study of the solidification simulation with supercooling of levitation melted and rapidly solidified high purity Fe--C-Si alloys with emphasis on carbide eutectic. Newly designed growth model of carbide eutectic is proposed. From the simulation model, calculated cooling curves are derived by means of a personal computer, and compared with experimental data. The results calculated are influenced remarkably by coefficient of heat tranfer(h), latent heat of solidification(L), growth rate constant(n) and range of temperature of mushy zone. After suitable choice of h, L, n and especially temperature range of mushy zone as 100K, experimental cooling curves are duplicated by calculated. As the cooling rate exceed about l0^3K/s, graphite crystal is not formed in the high purity Fe -C-Si melts.

        기저세포암 및 편평세포암에서 미세혈관밀도와 p53 단백 발현에 관한 연구

        Basal cell carcinoma(BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) are very prevalent neoplasms of the human skin. Ultraviolet radiation in sunlight is a well-established mutagen of the p53 gene and is one of basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. The newly-formed vascular network is important for neoplasms to grow beyond a size of about 1 ㎣. Recent reports have suggested the hypothesis that a mutant p53 protein is closely related with capillary density. Immumohistochemistry for p53 protein and CD34 was performed in 20 cases of BCCs and 14 SCCs to evaluated the relationship between p53 protein and capillary density. The results were as follows:1. The microvessels stained by CD34 were mainly located in the interface of tumor cells and stroma. 2. There was no difference in the microvessel density according to the histologic types and age of the patients, but a higher microvessel density was noted in male patients. 3. The aggressive BCCs and the less-differentiated SCCs showed higher p53 immunostaining. 4. The mean microvessel density of cases showing strong positive immunostaining of the p53 gene(54.73±17.75) was higher than that of others(39.75±18.30). These results suggested that p53 protein expression and microvessel density are not related to the histologic types and age of the patients, but that differentiation and biologic behavior such as the infiltrating property of tumors and the microvessel density are closely related to p53 protein expression.

      • 乾燥處理에 의한 양파 種子의 超低溫 保存에 관한 硏究

        양파 종자의 長期保存을 위하여 종자의 함수율을 건조처리에 의하여 低下시키고 액체질소(-196℃)중에서 생존 및 보존 실험을 행하였다. 종자내 수분 함유율은 送風定溫乾燥器에 의한 건조처리에 의하여 1.9-22%로 조정되어 액체질소에 1일, 7일, 30일, 1년간 저장한 후 37℃의 온수에 해동시켜 발아율 및 발아세, 평균 발아기간을 조사하였다. 액체질소에 저장한 종자는 무처리 대조구에 비교하여 발아율은 물론 평균발아기간에 큰차이는 없었으며 발아묘의 형태적인 변이등은 나타나지 않았다. 액체질소에 초저온 보존한 기간에 따라서도 발아율에 현저한 차이는 보여지지 않았다. 따라서 이와같은 결과에 의해 단명성 종자인 양파는 물론 작물의 종자를 초저온 보존에 의해 유전적으로 안정되게 경제적으로 저장할 수 있는 방법으로 이용할 수 있다고 사료되는 바이다. Dehydration effects on cryopreservation in LN(liguid nitrogen) were studied in onion(Allium cepa L.) seeds. Onion seeds were adjusted to moisture contents between 1.9 and 22% by air dry treatments. Seeds were placed in paper envelopes after submerged in LN and rewarning in 37℃ water. Seeds moisture contents by duration of drying were identified as controlling factors in the survival of onion seeds cryopreservation. Onion seeds having less than 2.0% moisture content were able to withstand cooling to -196℃. The germination percentages of onion sees were not adversely affected by storage at 1 day through 1 year in LN. Results from this study suggest that onion seeds can cryopreserve LN if the seed moisture content is below 1.9%.
