Anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative stress effect of Phascolosoma esculenta oligosaccharides on Escherichia coli-induced sepsis mice

        Zhihao Yang,Ying Pan,Jiong Chen,Hao Zhang,Hua Wei,Zufang Wu,Lianliang Liu 한국식품과학회 2019 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.28 No.6

Bacterial infection is the most common cause ofsepsis. In this study, Phascolosoma esculenta oligosaccharides(PEOs) were prepared to evaluate their resistanceagainst E. coli-induced sepsis. HPLC–MS and FT-IRindicated that PEOs were composed of D-glucosyl, Dgalactosyl, with small amount of D-mannosyl, D-arabinosyland residues with a- and b-type linkage. Different dosageadministrations of PEOs for 30 days significantly improvedICR mice survival rate and bacterial clearance ability(P\0.01) after as E. coli injection. Moreover, PEOs significantlyreduced the secretion of IL-1b and TNF-a andenhanced that of IL-10 in sepsis mice, enhanced theantioxidant enzyme activities and total antioxidant capacity, decreased MDA level in the serum, and upregulatedmRNA expression of Nrf2 (P\0.01). All these resultsindicate that PEOs could improve the resistance of ICRmice against E. coli-induced sepsis that attributed to antiinflammatoryand anti-oxidative stress.

Low Expression of Circulating MicroRNA-34c is Associated with Poor Prognosis in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

        Zhihao Zeng,Xiaowu Chen,Dajian Zhu,Zhongran Luo,Min Yang 연세대학교의과대학 2017 Yonsei medical journal Vol.58 No.4

Purpose: The microRNA-34 (miR-34) family is important in tumor regulation. This study aimed to investigate the association of circulating miR-34 family proteins with clinicopathological features and their prognostic value in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients. Materials and Methods: In this cohort study, 173 TNBC patients admitted to First People’s Hospital of Shunde from May 1, 2009 to April 30, 2013 were enrolled. Meanwhile, 75 age-matched healthy women volunteers were identified as healthy controls (HCs). We examined the expression of miR-34 family (miR-34a/b/c) proteins in plasma collected from TNBC patients before any treatmentwas performed and from age-matched HCs using qPCR methods. Results: The expressions of miR-34a/34b/34c were significantly lower in TNBC patients than in HC (p<0.001, p=0.027, p<0.001, respectively). miR-34a was correlated with tumor grade (p=0.038), lymph node positive (p=0.027), distant metastasis (p=0.004), and surgery (p=0.023); miR-34b was correlated with lymph node positivity (p=0.027); and miR-34c was correlated with tumor grade (p=0.017) and distant metastasis (p<0.001). Kaplan-Meier curve analysis displayed low expression of miR-34a as associated with worse overall survival (OS) (p=0.011), as well as miR-34c low expression (p=0.002). In addition, univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression was performed, and low expression of miR-34c (p=0.011) was found to be an independent risk factor for OS, as well as tumor grade (p=0.013), lymph node positive (p=0.050), and distant metastasis (p=0.021). Conclusion: In conclusion, this study demonstrated reduced miR-34a/c expression is highly associated with tumor progression and indicated worse prognosis. Also, miR-34c was an independent risk factor for OS in TNBC patients.

Fabrication and characterization of polypyrrole coatings by embedding antimony modified SnO2 nanoparticles

        Zhihao Chen,Yijie Jin,Wenzhong Yang,Bin Xu,Yun Chen,Xiaoshuang Yin,Ying Liu 한국공업화학회 2019 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.75 No.-

Polypyrrole (PPy) coatings were successfully electrosynthesized on the carbon steel by embedding SnO2and Sb-SnO2 nanoparticles (NPs). The associated structural, morphology, hydrophobic, physicalproperties, anti-corrosion and self-healing performance of these coatings were systematically studiedby several tests. XRD results showed that SnO2 had a tetragonal rutile structure and the lattice parametersindicated that Sb ions were successful substituted into SnO2 lattice. The average size of SnO2 NPs wasdecreased by the incorporation of Sb-SnO2 NPs, which were found through TEM images. The contactangle test showed that the hydrophobic of PPy coatings was greatly enhanced by the incorporation of Sb-SnO2 NPs. SEM results revealed that Sb-SnO2/PPy coating exhibited a more compact and uniform surfacethan SnO2/PPy coating, hence the physical barrier effect was significantly strengthened. Theelectrochemical measurements confirmed the excellent anti-corrosion and self-healing ability of Sb-SnO2/PPy coating for a long immersion time in HCl solution. The superior anti-corrosion performance ofSb-SnO2/PPy coating was ascribed to the synergistic effects of the anodic protection combined with theself-healing effect, the excellent physical barrier effect with compact, smooth and hydrophobic coatingsurface as well as the formation of p-n junction with decreased charge transfer.

Preparation of Monascus-fermented ginkgo seeds: optimization of fermentation parameters and evaluation of bioactivity

        Wu Zhihao,Miao Wen,Yang Yuhan,Fan Gongjian,Wu Caie,Li Tingting,Xie Chunyan,Shen Dongbei 한국식품과학회 2022 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.31 No.6

In this study, a high monacolin K yield was achieved through solid-state fermentation of Ginkgo biloba seeds. Monascus purpureus suspension made from red yeast rice was used as spore inoculum. Fermentation conditions in solid-state fermentation were optimized using response surface methodology, and the optimal conditions for the maximum monacolin K yield (17.71 ± 1.57 mg/g) were 0.22% ammonium sulfate, 0.34% ammonium chloride, 0.05% magnesium sulfate, fermentation time of 12 days, inoculation volume of 11%, and temperature of 27 °C. The total phenolic content of Monascus-fermented ginkgo seeds attained 9.67 mg GAE/g, 4.88-fold higher than that of unfermented ginkgo seeds. The scavenging abilities of DPPH and ABTS free radicals increased to 9.79 mg TE/g and 13.92 mg TE/g, respectively. These findings highlight the importance of investigating the optimal fermentation conditions for maximum monacolin K yield and the utilization value of ginkgo seed as fermentation substrate for higher bioactivities.

Frame Structural Sizing and Topological Optimization via a Parallel Implementation of a Modified Particle Swarm Algorithm

        Bin Yang,Kai-Uwe Bletzinger,Qilin Zhang,Zhihao Zhou 대한토목학회 2013 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.17 No.6

As a comparatively new developed stochastic method - Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), it is widely applied to various kinds of optimization problems especially of nonlinear, non-differentiable or non-concave types. In this paper, a Parallel Modified Guaranteed Converged Particle Swarm algorithm (PMGCPSO) is proposed, which is inspired by the Guaranteed Converged Particle Swarm algorithm (GCPSO) proposed by von den Bergh. Details in the algorithm implementation and properties are presented and, an analytical benchmark test and structural sizing and topological test cases are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed PSO variant, PMGCPSO exhibited competitive performance due to improved global searching ability and its corresponding parallel model indicates nice parallel efficiency.

Solving Truss Topological Optimization via Swarm Intelligence

Bin Yang,Qilin Zhang,Zhihao Zhou 대한토목학회 2015 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.19 No.7

Structural topological optimization is the most general form of structural optimization and requires a less detailed description of the concept. One of the most exciting and challenging problems in this field is to find optimized layouts with minimization of compliance (maximization of stiffness) for a given total mass of the structure discretized by truss members, which cannot be well solved by evolutionary algorithms. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is a new paradigm of Swarm Intelligence which is inspired by concepts from ‘Social Psychology’ and ‘Artificial Life’. PSO is particularly a preferable candidate to solve highly nonlinear, nonconvex and even discontinuous problems and has been applied to many different kinds of optimization problems. The motivation of this paper is to propose an enhanced Lbest based PSO and geometrical consistency check tightly connecting to the ground structure approach to break through in this optimization field. Through a popular benchmark test, two kinds of Modified Lbest based PSO (MLPSO) exhibited competitive performance due to improved global searching ability.

Perovskite oxides as transparent semiconductors: a review

        He Haiying,Yang Zhihao,Xu Yonghang,Smith Andrew T.,Yang Guangguang,Sun Luyi 나노기술연구협의회 2020 Nano Convergence Vol.7 No.32

Traditional transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) have been widely used for various optoelectronic applications, but have the trade-off between conductivity and transmittance. Recently, perovskite oxides, with structural and chemical stability, have exhibited excellent physical properties as new TCOs. We focus on SrVO 3 -based perovskites with a high carrier concentration and BaSnO 3 -based perovskites with a high mobility for n-type TCOs. In addition, p-type perovskites are discussed, which can serve as potential future options to couple with n-type perovskites to design full perovskite based devices.

A Path Planning Method for Unmanned Surface Vessels in Dynamic Environment

        Jiabin Yu,Zhihao Chen,Zhiyao Zhao,Jiping Xu,Yang Lu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2024 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.22 No.4

A path planning method for unmanned surface vessels (USV) in dynamic environment is proposed to address the impact of dynamic environments on path planning results and the lack of dynamic obstacle avoidance capabilities. First, the considering ocean current rapidly exploring random tree (RRT*) (COC-RRT*) algorithm was proposed for global path planning. The RRT* algorithm has been enhanced with the integration of the virtual field sampling algorithm and ocean current constraint algorithm. The COC-RRT* algorithm optimizes the global planning path by adjusting the path between the parent nodes and child nodes. Second, according to the limitations of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs), the improved dynamic window approach (DWA) is applied for local path planning. To enhance the ability of avoid dynamic obstacles, the dist function in the DWA algorithm has been improved. Simulation experiments were conducted in three scenarios to validate the proposed algorithm. The experimental results demonstrate that, in comparison with other algorithms, the proposed algorithm effectively avoids dynamic obstacles and mitigates the influence of the space-varying ocean current environment on the path-planning outcome. Additionally, the proposed algorithm exhibits high efficiency and robustness. The results verified the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in dynamic environments.
