This dissertation takes an approach in terms of comparative education to curriculum in French kindergartens in comparison with educational materials for kindergarten curriculum newly amended in the year of 2002, especially for state-owned kindergartens in Korea. French curriculum for kindergarteners emphasizes language teaching and science teaching; what is specified in their curriculum is only the minimums for kindergartners expected competences and activities for participation while in Korean curriculum specific teaching items for every level are listed. French curriculum doesn't show a big difference from Korean one in the education areas based on language, physical development, society, research and expressions with an exception that their curriculum structure has physical exercises and activities respectively. In conclusion, despite some differences by the area, there are similarities between western and eastern educational systems in terms of consideration for children's development, children's growth as the whole person, personality development and socialization functions of education.

This paper addresses the experimental study on the nonlinear critical speed and the validity of simple prediction formulation. The experiment on nonlinear critical speed is carried out using roller rigs, which has been impossible on track because of a possibility of an accident. In addition, experiment for a bogie is performed to check the difference in modeling a full railway vehicle and a bogie. It is found that nonlinear critical speed proves to be an inherent phenomenon of a railway vehicle itself and the difference of test results between a full railway vehicle and a bogie is comparatively negligible. Finally, the accuracy of simple prediction formulation for outbreak velocity and response frequency in hunting is investigated.

Defects can affect all aspects of a material by altering its electronic properties and controlling its chemical reactivity. At defect sites, preferential adsorption of reactants and/or formation of chemical species at active sites are observed in heterogeneous catalysis. Understanding the structural response at defect sites during catalytic reactions provides a unique opportunity to exploit defect control of nanoparticle-based catalysts. However, it remains difficult to characterize the strain and defect evolution for a single nanocrystal catalyst in situ. Here, we report Bragg coherent X-ray diffraction imaging of defect dynamics in an individual Pt nanoparticle during catalytic methane oxidation. We observed that the initially tensile strained regions of the crystal became seed points for the development of further strain and subsequent disappearance of diffraction density during oxidation reactions. Our detailed understanding of the catalytically induced deformation at the defect sites and observed reversibility during the relevant steps of the catalytic oxidation process provide important insights of defect control and engineering of heterogeneous catalysts.
[FIG OMISSION]
