The domestic silkworm, Bombyx mori (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae), has been diversified into various strains over a long period. However, methods to distinguish silkworm strains remain limited partially owing to the genetic similarity caused by the long history of domestication. In this study, we developed molecular identification methods to distinguish three domestic silkworm strains, which are endemic to Korea. By comparing publicly available complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) sequences of five endemic strains and 34 stock silk worm strains analyzed in a previous study, we detected 15 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs; SNP1–SNP15), which distinguished the following three endemic strains: Sun7ho (SN7), Sandongsammyeon (SDS), and Sammyeonhonghoeback (SMH). We used two SNPs for each strain to identify the three endemic strains. To distinguish each SN7 and SDS from the remaining four endemic and 34 stock strains, the PCRrestriction fragment length polymorphism method was employed using Acu I and Hpa I restriction enzymes, which recognize SNP1 and SNP8, respectively. Additionally, the tetra-primer amplification refractory mutation system PCR method was used to determine the regions containing SNP3, SNP11, and both SNP14 and SNP15 to distinguish SN7, SDS, and SMH, respectively, from the remaining strains. A validation test with additional in dividuals showed that each target strain was clearly recognized, suggesting that mitogenome SNP-based methods can be used to identify three endemic silkworm strains during culture and breeding.
심실보조장치 이식의 새로운 수술기법-Korea University Technique-

고려대학교 흉부외과에서는 심실보조장치 이식에서 흉골 재절개(re-sternotomy)에 따른 합병증과 사망률을 감소시키기 위하여 우측 개흉을 이용한 독자적인 수술법을 개발하였다 (KU technique). 다양한 동물모델과 사체실험 및 임상적용을 통해 안정성과 유용성을 확인하였으며, 향후 좌심 및 양심보조장치 이식에서 표준기법의 하나로 제안하고자 한다. We have developed a new surgical technique (KU technique) of right thoracotomy for cannulation of ventricular assist devices, which can lessen potential morbidity and morta1ity from re-sternotomy. The technique has been proved to be safe and efficient in various animal models, preclinical cadaver fitting test, and human application. We would like suggest KU technique as a part of standard in implantation of left ventricular or hi-ventricular assist devices.

위성통신망은 송신측에서 일방적으로 정보를 전송하는 단방향 링크를 갖는 통신망이다. 그러나 인터넷에서의 정보 전송을 위한 정책 결정은 인접 라우터들 사이에 서로 라우팅 정보를 교환하는 양방향 링크를 가정한 통신망이다. 따라서, 인터넷에서 위성통신망을 적용하기 위해서는 인터넷 라우팅 방식이 가능해야 한다. 본 논문은 단방향 링크를 갖는 위성통신망을 인터넷에 적용하기 위한 방식을 분석한다. Satellite network transmits information from feeds to receivers with a uni-directional link. However, Internet uses a bi-directional link to exchange routing information between neighbor routers. Thus, the Internet routing over the current satellite network is impossible. This paper presents the way that the satellite network is applied to the Internet.
膽石誘發物質의 投與가 생쥐에 미치는 瀉肝湯의 實驗的 硏究

In order to investigate the effect of Sagantang (瀉肝湯) of relation Liver and Gallbladder on cholecystolithiasis in Mouse, and observed about serum total Cholesterol, serum free cholesterol, serum phopholipid, serum triglyceride. The results were as fallow: 1. The level of serum total cholesterol of Sagantang group was decreased in experimental group and revealed a significance in Sagantang group as compared with that of control group. 2. The level of serum free cholesterol of Sagantang group was decreased in experimental group, and revealed a significance in Sagnatang group as compared with that of control group. 3. The level of serum phopholipid of Sagantang group was in experimental group, and revealed a significance in Sagantang group as compared with that of control group. 4. The level of serum Triglycerid of Sagantang group decreased in experimental group, and revealed a significance in Sagantang group as compared with that of control group. According to the above result, it was considered that Sagantang of relation Liver and Gallbadder have the decreased effects on the gallstone formation of mouse.

신경섬유종증은 상염색체 우성 유전성 질환으로,17번 염색체의 장완에 위치한 종양 억제 유전자의 변성에 의해 발생한다. 이는 두가지 형이 있으며 신경섬유종의 발생은 제1형 신경섬유종증의 임상적 진단 기준 중 하나이다. 신경섬유종증의 임상적 증상으로는 피부병소,골변형,중추신경계의 종양 등이 있으며 환자의 25%가 구강내 신경섬유종을 보인다. 악골내 신경섬유종은 드물며 방사선학적으로 하악공,하악관,이공을 포함하고 단방성으로 잘 경계된 방사선 투과성으로 나타난다. 신경섬유종은 하나 또는 그 이상의 병소에서 신경육종으로 전이된다는 점에서 임상적으로 중요하며 현재 특이한 치료법은 없으나,외과적 절제술이 좋은 치료법으로 여겨지고 있다. 본 증례는 제1형 신경섬유종증 진단을 받은 환아로,구강내 신경섬유종의 외과적 절제 후 양호한 결과를 보여 이를 보고하는 바이다. Neurofibromatosis is an autosomal dominant disorder caused by a mutation of a tumor supressor gene on the long arm of chromosome 17. There are two types of neurofibromatosis, and development of neurofibroma is one of clinical diagnostic criteria for neurofibromatosis. The clinical signs of neurofibromatosis include as skin lesions, bone deformities, and tumors involving central nervous system. About 25% of neurofibromatosis involves oral neurofibroma. Radiographically, oral neurofibroma is well-defined unilocular radiolucency, which involves mandibular canal, mandibular foramen and mental foramen. When a lesion is small and approachable, complete resection, including lcm of marginal connective tissue, is feasible. However, there are studies reporting that the recurrence rate after surgical resection is high and frequent recurrence may even increase the risk of malignant transformation. This case reports a patient with neurofibromatosis type I, accompanying oral neurofibroma, who shows a favorable result after surgical resection of the oral lesion.

After establishing improved HPLC analytical method ofcefaclor in human plasma samples, a bioavailability study of cefaclor capsules was conducted according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). The standard calibration curve using an HPLC with UV detector was constructed in a range of 0.0324--16 μg/m1. The 6% perchloric acid instead of 6% trichloroacetic acid was used to precipitate plasma protein. The HPLC chromatograms were precisely and accurately resolved when spiked with human plasma spiked with cefaclor and cephalexin (internal standard). Twenty healthy male Korean volunteers received two commercial cefaclor capsules, Neocef ' capsule (Jinyang Pharm. Co., Ltd) or Ceclor" capsule {Lilly Korea. Co., Ltd.) at the 250 mg cefaclor in a 2 x 2 crossover study. There was a one-week washout period between the doses. Plasma concentrations of cefaclor were monitored for 8 hours after oral drug administration. AUC, the area under the plasma concentration-time curve from time zero to 8 hr (13 points), was calculated by the linear trapezoidal rule method. C,,,a" (maximum plasma drug concentration) and Tmax (time to reach Cma,) were compiled from the plasma concentration-time data. Analysis of variance was carried out using logarithmically transformed AUC, and Cmax. No significant sequence effect was found for all of the bioavailability parameters indicating that the cross-over design was properly performed. The 90% confidence intervals of the AUC, ratio and the Cmax ratio for Neocer/Ceclor" were 0.9049 S S < 1.0304 and 0.9776 5 S 1.226, respectively. These values were within the acceptable bioequivalence intervals of 0.80-1.25. Thus, our study demonstrated the bioequivalence of Neocef"/Ceclor" with respect to the extent of absorption.
