c-형강 및 ebb & flow 방식에 따른 경제성 분석

        강승원(Seung Won Kang),박천호(Chun Ho Pak),조용성(Yong Sung Cho) 한국원예학회 2007 원예과학기술지 Vol.25 No.3

Economical efficiency for production of high quality-potted plants was analyzed by types of irrigation system such as conventional fertigation, ebb & flow, and C-channel as subirrigation systems. After cost structure was analyzed, payback period of capital, internal rate return (IRR), and effects of reduced labor cost were estimated. The gross cost of cyclamen-producing farmers using hydroponic systems in automated greenhouses (10a) was about 100 million won. Of the gross cost, installation and operation costs occupied 74% and 25%, respectively. In the C-channel subirrigation system, gross cost was 120 million won approximately. Installation and operation costs occupied 70% and 30%, respectively. Payback period of capital was 4 years for fertigated irrigation and C-channel subirrigation system, whereas it was 5 years for ebb & flow. IRR of ebb & flow and C-channel subirrigation systems was higher than the interest rates of 4.82%, indicating economic efficiency.

      • Impact of Interferon-Based Treatment on Quality of Life and Work Related Productivity from the Korean Cohort in the MOSAIC Study

( Sang Hoon Ahn ),( Won Hyeok Choe ),( Yoon Jun Kim ),( Jeong Heo ),( Dorota Latarska-smuga ),( Jiho Kang ),( Seung Woon Paik ) 대한간학회 2017 춘·추계 학술대회 (KASL) Vol.2017 No.1

Aims: Chronic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection increases the risk for progressive liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma and negatively impacts the patient’s quality of life. HCV treatment is evolving with direct acting antivirals but IFN based therapy has been the standard of care for many years and remains available in some countries. The MOSAIC study aims to characterize patients with chronic HCV infection and assess the impact of IFN-containing treatment on health-related quality of life, work related productivity and health care utilization. Methods: MOSAIC is an international prospective multicenter observational study that has been conducted in 20 countries. Consecutive patients with chronic HCV infection were enrolled and those who initiated an IFN based regimen were prospectively followed for 48 weeks. We report results from the Korean cohort Results: 100 patients were enrolled: 86 were treatment naïve and 14 were treatment experienced. 33 patients initiated an IFN based regimen: 6 patients started IFN + RBV, 26 patients started Peg-IFN + RBV, none started Peg-IFN + RBV + DAA and 1 patient received other treatment. Among the treated cohort, demographic and disease characteristics were the following: the mean age was 54.5 years; 14 patients were male. 14 had minimal or no fibrosis, 2 portal fibrosis, 3 bridging fibrosis and 6 patients suffered from cirrhosis. HCV Genotype distribution was as follows: genotype 1: 11; genotype 2: 19 and genotype 3: 3. Table 1 describes the results at baseline and changes over 4, 12 and 48 weeks and end-of-treatment (EOT) for the quality of life and work productivity outcome measures (EQ-5D-5L, HCV-PRO and WPAI). Conclusions: Results from the Korean cohort of the MOSAIC study show a moderate trend for deterioration of health-related quality of life and work productivity associated with IFN based treatment for patients with chronic HCV infection during treatment period. • A study on balance assessment according to the levels of difficulty in postural control

        Kang, Dong-Won,Seo, Jeong-Woo,Kim, Dae-Hyeok,Yang, Seung-Tae,Choi, Jin-Seung,Tack, Gye-Rae The Society of Physical Therapy Science 2016 JOURNAL OF PHYSICAL THERAPY SCIENCE Vol.28 No.6

[Purpose] This study aimed to determine appropriate measures for assessing balance ability according to difficulty level during standing tasks. [Subjects and Methods] The subjects were 56 old (>65 years) and 30 young (20–30 years) adults. By using the Berg balance scale, the subjects were divided into three groups: 29 healthy older (Berg score≥52), 27 impaired older (Berg score≥40), and 30 healthy young (Berg score≥55). One inertial measurement unit sensor was attached at the waist, and the subjects performed standing tasks (1 min/task) with six difficulty levels: eyes open and eyes closed on firm ground, one foam, and two foams. Thirty-nine (24 time-domain, 15 frequency-domain) measures were calculated by using acceleration data. The slope of each derived measure was calculated through the least-squares method. [Results] Five (95% ellipse sway area, root mean squares [anterior-posterior and resultant directions], and mean distance [anterior-posterior and resultant directions] in time domain) of the 39 measures showed significant differences among the groups under specific standing conditions. The slopes of derived measures showed significant differences among the groups and significant correlations with the Berg scores. [Conclusion] The slope according to the difficulty level can be used to assess and discriminate standing balance ability.

Rapid and Unequivocal Identification Method for Event-specific Detection of Transgene Zygosity in Genetically Modified Chili Pepper

        Seung Won Kang,Chul-Hee Lee,Sang-Gyu Seo,Bal-Kum Han,Hyung-Seok Choi,Sun Hyung Kim,Chee Hark Harn,Gung Pyo Lee 한국원예학회 2011 원예과학기술지 Vol.29 No.2

To identify unintended vertical gene-transfer rates from the developed transgenic plants, rapid and unequivocal techniques are needed to identify event-specific markers based on flanking sequences around the transgene and to distinguish zygosity such as homo- and hetero-zygosity. To facilitate evaluation of zygosity, a polymerase chain reaction technique was used to analyze a transgenic pepper line B20 (homozygote), P915 wild type (null zygote), and their F1 hybrids, which were used as transgene contaminated plants. First, we sequenced the 3’-flanking region of the T-DNA (1,277 bp) in the transgenic pepper event B20. Based on sequence information for the 3’- and 5’-flanking region of T-DNA provided in a previous study, a primer pair was designed to amplify full length T-DNA in B20. We successfully amplified the full length T-DNA containing 986 bp from the flanking regions of B20. In addition, a 1,040 bp PCR product, which was where the T-DNA was inserted, was amplified from P915. Finally, both full length T-DNA and the 1,040 bp fragment were simultaneously amplified in the F1 hybrids; P915 × B20, Pungchon × B20, Gumtap × B20. In the present study, we were able to identify zygosity among homozygous transgenic event B20, its wild type P915, and hemizygous F1 hybrids. Therefore, this novel zygosity identification technique, which is based on PCR, can be effectively used to examine gene flow for transgenic pepper event B20.

Research Articles : Analysis of Hemocyte-specific Gene Expression from Bombyx mori

( Seung Won Park ),( Tae Won Goo ),( Seong Ryul Kim ),( Seok Woo Kang ) 한국잠사학회 2011 International Journal of Industrial Entomology Vol.23 No.1

A previous data was provided information for tissuespecific expression genes by means of whole-genome oligonucleotide microarray in the silkworm. We analyzed the tissue-specific expression patterns in the hemocyte tissue on 5 days of 5th instar larvae during the development of B. mori. Total 5 candidates pick out from the Bombyx mori Microarray Database (BmMDB; http://silkworm.swu.edu.cn/microarray). To verify the hemocyte-specific expression, we analyzed by semi-quantitative and real-time quantitative RT-PCR using the highly expressed endogenous Actin RNA as an intrinsic reference. In this study, we confirmed that one gene-sw17255- out of 5 candidates expressed in the hemocyte tissue, which was consistent with the previous data. Circulating hemocytes in the body fluid of the B. mori are most powerful target organ for producing biomaterials. We need further studies to find hemocyte-specific promoter region from sw17255 gene. Finally, this result can be applied in creating transgenic silkworms as a biomedical insect.

      • Liensinine and Nuciferine, Bioactive Components of Nelumbo nucifera , Inhibit the Growth of Breast Cancer Cells and Breast Cancer-Associated Bone Loss

        Kang, Eun Ji,Lee, Sun Kyoung,Park, Kwang-Kyun,Son, Seung Hwa,Kim, Ki Rim,Chung, Won-Yoon Hindawi 2017 Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medic Vol.2017 No.-

Once breast cancer cells grow aggressively and become lodged in the skeleton through migration and invasion, they interact with bone microenvironment and accelerate much more tumor growth and bone destruction. We investigated whether liensinine and nuciferine, major active components in Nelumbo nucifera (lotus), could prevent breast cancer cell-mediated bone destruction. Liensinine and nuciferine inhibited the growth of MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 human breast cancer cells by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting proliferation via cell cycle arrest. Liensinine treatment led to the increased Bax/Bcl-2 ratio, activation of caspase-3, and subsequent cleavage of PARP. Liensinine also displayed significant inhibition on the migration and invasion of both MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 human breast cancer cells compared with nuciferine. In addition, liensinine and nuciferine inhibited the receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand- (RANKL-) induced osteoclast differentiation in mouse bone marrow macrophage cells and mature osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Furthermore, oral administration of liensinine reduced the osteolysis in nude mice with intratibial injection of MDA-MB-231 cells. Collectively, liensinine and nuciferine may be promising candidates for preventing and treating breast cancer bone metastasis and the resulting osteolytic bone loss by targeting both cancer cells and osteoclasts. Liensinine has more potent anticancer and antibone resorptive activities than nuciferine.

        High-power Accelerator for Environmental Applications

        Seung-Han Kuk,Sung-Myun Kim,Won-Gu Kang,한범수,Nikolai K. Kuksanov,Kwang-Young Jeong 한국물리학회 2011 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.59 No.61

A high-power electron accelerator has been developed for environmental applications by EB TECH Co. Ltd. and BINP. This accelerator, which has double extraction windows, can deliver an electron beam with a power up to 400 kW at 1 MeV through 3 irradiators. Titanium foils are used as the window material and are cooled both by water and a blowing air jet. High voltages are generated through the inductions of the coils in the main accelerator body and SF_6 gases are used to protect against electrical discharges. The first such accelerator was installed in 2005 at the Daegu Dyeing Industrial Complex, Korea, for treating industrial wastewater from textile dyeing industries.

Effects of Weight Change on Clinical Outcomes in Overweight and Obese Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction Who Underwent Successful Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

        Won Yu Kang,Seung Hwan Hwang,Sun Ho Hwang,Wan Kim,Keun Ho Park,홍영준,김주한,안영근,정명호 전남대학교 의과학연구소 2012 전남의대학술지 Vol.48 No.1

Obesity is a well-established risk factor for many chronic disorders. However, the effect of weight change after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is not well known. Among consecutive patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention between November 2005 and November 2007 due to AMI, patients who were overweight (23.0≤body mass index [BMI]<27.5 kg/m2, n=341) and obese (BMI≥27.5 kg/m2, n=80) were selected for analysis. According to weight change, the patients were divided into 4groups: Group I (weight loss>5%, n=61), Group II (0%<weight loss≤5%, n=133),Group III (0%≤weight gain<5%, n=181), and Group IV (weight gain≥5%, n=46). We assessed the association between weight change and major adverse cardiac events (MACE). Greater weight loss was more frequent among older individuals (Group I:64.1±12.4 years, II: 60.6±12.1 years, III: 59.0±11.9 years, IV: 61.4±10.6 years; p=0.028)and patients with diabetes (Group I: 34.4%, II: 27.1%, III: 21.2%, IV: 15.2%; p=0.009). However, there were no significant differences in baseline characteristics or in angiographic or procedural factors except for the proportions of patients with three-vessel disease, which were higher in patients with weight loss (Group I: 20.8%, II: 23.0%, III:12.5%, IV: 11.6%; p=0.005). The group with greater weight loss had the highest MACE rate at the 12-month clinical follow-up (Group I: 36.9%, II: 25.0%, III: 25.9%, IV: 17.3%;p=0.020). Although weight loss after AMI appears to be associated with worse outcomes,it remains unclear whether the effect is of cardiac origin.
