Acupuncture for Symptomatic Rotator Cuff Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Seoyoung Choi,Jisun Lee,이승훈,양기영,김건형 대한침구의학회 2021 대한침구의학회지 Vol.38 No.1
The objective was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for patients with rotator cuff diseases. There were 12 electronic databases and 3 trial registries searched up to November 30 th , 2019. All randomized trials were eligible, regardless of language, date of publication, or settings. The primary outcomes were pain, shoulder function, and proportion of improved participants assessed within 12 weeks of randomization of the trial. The Cochrane risk of bias for the studies was assessed. Effects sizes were presented as a risk ratio, mean difference, or standardized mean difference with a 95% confidence intervals. Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation approach was adopted to rate certainty of evidence. Of the 3,686 records screened, 28 randomized trials (2,216 participants) were included in this review. The types of acupuncture included manual acupuncture, dry needling, electroacupuncture, acupotomy, warm needle acupuncture, and fire needle acupuncture. All of the studies had an unclear or high risk of bias related to more than 1 domain. Significant benefits of acupuncture in terms of pain and shoulder function were observed in all comparisons, however, the proportion of improved participants was not described in 2 comparisons. There was substantial heterogeneity among meta-analyzed trials. No serious harm was observed. For primary outcomes, the overall certainty of evidence was very low. There was very low certainty of evidence for the benefits of acupuncture for patients with rotator cuff diseases. The safety of acupuncture remains unclear due to the incompleteness of reporting. Future welldesigned randomized trials with transparent reporting are required.

This paper attempts to theorize the resistance of Korean sexual minorities at the Queer Culture Festival. In 2008, a pioneer in Korean LGBTQ studies concluded that “[sexual minorities in Korea are] so powerless that they cannot even prove that they are powerless.” By analyzing the three phases of the Seoul Queer Parade, the major event of the Queer Culture Festival, we explicate how the LGBTQ people of Korea, who were an unintelligible force of resistance, entered hegemony and are challenging hegemony by presenting themselves as simultaneously vulnerable yet agentic sexual minorities. Objecting to the simple binary of vulnerability and resistance, Judith Butler suggests that the mobilization of vulnerability through deliberate exposure to force can be an act of resistance, in other words, an agentic act. Butler’s concept allows us to identify the “extra-juridical modes of resistance” of so-called vulnerable populations who can be at once exposed and agentic.
Cubic Ambigram Generating Method Optimized for 3D Printing
Jean Seoyoung Choi(최서영),Kwan H. Lee(이관행) (사)한국CDE학회 2016 한국 CAD/CAM 학회 학술발표회 논문집 Vol.2016 No.동계
An ambigram is a type of word design in which one or more words can be viewed depending on the perspective. Existing 3D ambigram generating methods are limited to a single character on a face and required designers for a more complex form. In this paper, I present a cubic ambigram generating method using 3D printer. The proposed method automatically generates three words on the three faces of a cube, respectively, given user input. The implemented algorithm generates cubic ambigram considering the stability when placed on a ground and hovering elements which are not printable on a 3D printer, while preserving the legibility of the words. Using this method, cubic ambigram inscribed with the logo of a/an company/institute/organization or an individual’s initials can be easily manufactured with a 3D printer.

The heat from bulbs of automotive lamp is transferred to internal materials in the form of conduction, convection and radiation. The transferred heat causes deformation of lamp materials when it exceeds the heat-resistance limits. To reduce the effort from trial and error by failing the heat-resistance test after designing and producing lamps, using a simulation program is necessary at the design stage. A new internal heat-resistance prediction program with less errors is going to be developed, which covers conduction, convection and radiation based on experiments. The experimental facility is designed, according to variables we set, such as bulb powers, heat-resistant distance, boundary conditions, etc. By performing several preliminary tests, the operation of the facility was verified.
