Motion estimation is crucial in a remote control for its convenience or accuracy. Time delays, however, can occur in the problem because data communication is required through a network. In this paper, state estimation problem with uncertain time delayed measurements is addressed. In dynamic system with noise, after taking measurements, it often requires some time until that is available in the filter algorithm. Standard filters not considering this time delays cannot be used since the current measurement is related with a past state. These delayed measurements are solved with augmented extended Kalman filter, and the uncertainty of delayed time is also resolved based on an explicit formulation. The proposed method is analyzed and verified by simulations.

The scan matching is widely used in localization and mapping of mobile robots. This paper presents a probabilistic scan matching method. To improve the performance of the scan matching, a direction of data point is incorporated into the scan matching. The direction of data point is calculated using the line fitted by the neighborhood data. Owing to the incorporation, the performance of the matching was improved. The number of iterations in the scan matching decreased, and the tolerance against a high rotation between scans increased. Based on real data of a laser range finder, experiments verified the performance of the proposed direction augmented probabilistic scan matching algorithm.

최근 소프트웨어 품질에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 그에 따른 기반 기술들이 요구되고 있다. 산업분야에 있어서도 작업을 수행하는 기계장치의 성능향상을 위해서 소프트웨어가 차지하는 중요성이 점점 증가함에 따라 해당 장치에 대한 성능은 물론 품질에 있어서도 소프트웨어의 중요도가 크게 향상됐다. 이러한 시대적 흐름에 따라 산업분야에 있어서 내장형 소프트웨어의 일종인 산업용 소프트웨어에 대한 품질인증 · 평가체계를 구축하고 이를 활용하여 산업용 소프트웨어 국제표준 적합성 인증 시스템을 설계 구현하고자 한다.

Purpose: To determine whether systemic inflammatory response (SIR), particularly platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), has different prognostic role between patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) receiving first-line tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI). Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 547 patients with mRCC who were diagnosed and treated with a first-line TKI between 2007 and 2015. The primary endpoint was overall survival (OS) and secondary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS). We evaluated differences in survival outcomes according to SIR and identified predictors of OS and PFS. Results: In synchronous mRCC, patients with a higher PLR had significantly worse OS and PFS. Moreover, a higher NLR was also associated with both worse OS and PFS in these patients. However, PLR was not associated with either OS or PFS in metachronous mRCC patients. While metachronous mRCC patients with a higher NLR had worse OS compared to those with lower NLR, there was no difference in PFS according to the status of NLR. On multivariate analysis, PLR was identified as predictive factor for OS (hazard ratio [HR], 1.55) as well as PFS (HR, 1.39) in patients with synchronous mRCC, but not in patients with metachronous mRCC. Additionally, higher NLR was also remained as predictive factor of both OS (HR, 1.83) and PFS (HR, 1.57) in patients with synchronous mRCC. Conclusions: Our study indicates that simple biomarkers of SIR, particularly PLR and NLR, can be more useful predictors of survival outcomes in patients with synchronous mRCC rather than metachronous mRCC.

Background: We sought to identify prognostic risk factors for one year recurrence in patient with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) after partial or radical nephrectomy. Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 1,269 patients with RCC after partial or radical nephrectomy and diagnosed recurrence using Korean Renal Cancer Study Group (KRoCS) database between January 1991 and March 2017. Recurrence-free survival (RFS), and overall survival (OS) were calculated using the Kaplan–Meier method and multivariate Cox regression analysis were performed to evaluate independent prognostic factors for recurrence Results: The median patient age was 56 years and median follow-up period was 67 months. Multivariable analysis demonstrated BMI greater than or equal to 23 and less than 30 (vs. BMI less than 23, hazard ratio [HR]: 0.707, P = 0.020) reduced recurrence one year postoperatively. Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS) greater than or equal to 1 (vs. ECOG PS 0, HR: 1.548, P = 0.007), high pathological T stage (pT2 vs. pT1, HR: 2.622, P < 0.001; pT3 vs. pT1, HR: 4.256, P < 0.001; pT4 vs. pT1, HR: 4.558, P < 0.001), and tumor necrosis (vs. no tumor necrosis, HR: 2.822, P < 0.001) were independent predictive factors for early recurrence within one year in patients with RCC. Statistically significant differences on RFS and OS were found among pathological T stages (pT2 vs. pT1; pT3 vs. pT1; pT4 vs. pT1, all P < 0.001). Conclusion: This large multicenter study demonstrated ECOG PS greater than or equal to 1, high pathological T stage, tumor necrosis and BMI less than 23 were significant prognostic risk factors of early recurrence within one year in patients with RCC who underwent nephrectomy.

In order to audit the comfort of passenger car seats, various dummy models are developed based on the data of standard human body. Those dummies are generally composed of joint style skeleton structures and the outside of the body structures are covered with soft materials such as latex or silicon rubber, which has similar material characteristics such as skin, fat and muscle. The existing dummy models for comfort assessment uses the same skeletal structures with human body that has kinematical similarity. But those do not have systematic posture monitoring system that it is impossible to assess the global posture change according to relative joint rotations. In this paper, vertebral column and hip joints which has spring preload, are developed that it is possible to follow the kinematically similar seating behavior with human motion. Furthermore, realtime monitoring system is developed for all the rotation angle of the joints that it is possible to audit the comfort of passenger car seats on the basis of standard human body dummy, which is developed in this paper.
A Design of Smartphone Dialog Message Considering Interruption Process by Age

Objective: Evaluation of smartphone dialog messages in interruption process according to user ages. Background: The domain for user interruption has been extended due to the rapid popularization of smartphone, which contains manifold function. The system dialog message, one of the interruption, could be a disruptive form affecting primary tasks, as it may often comprise IT jargons which appear to be linguistically complex, especially for the elderly. Method: Using 24 subjects, various experiments were conducted to inspect the effects of two age groups (twenties and sixties), three interruption stages (Primary task, Interruption task, Resumption), and four message types (quantity of jargon, length of message) on task performance time, comprehension rate, and subjective workloads. Results: The results yielded that the task performance time of sixties was significantly slower than that of twenties. The correlation analysis for the task performance time of sixties demonstrated that interruption task was significantly correlated with resumption. The result of sixties indicated relatively higher subjective workload on the messages of many jargons. Conclusion: This study suggested optimal guidelines to design system dialog messages for aged user group. Application: The results of this study could be utilized to construct user centered dialog message, which is widely needed not only for smartphone but for overall IT gadgets.
