4-Thiazinyl-1235-dithiadiazolyl cation: robustferromagnetic coupling against conformational change
Akihiro Ito,Masashi Urabe,Haruhiro Ino,Kazuyoshi Tanaka 한국물리학회 2005 Current Applied Physics Vol.5 No.2
Quantum chemical calculations employing two-conguration self-cosistent eld theory and density functional theory have beencarried out for a new diradical cation composed of two ring systems, 1,4-thiazine and 1,2,3,5-dithiadiazolyl. These ring systems arecoupled through a central CAN bond, and hence, the free rotation are allowed for this diradical cation. However, the singlettripletenergy splitting has been predicted to be positive for every dihedral angle between two ring systems. Moreover, the cation diradicalwas found to be isoelectronic with trimethylenemethane in the planar conformation. This fact is deeply related with the robustnessof high-spin correlation of the diradical cation..

Hydrangea luteovenosa is a critically endangered plant species of Jeju Island in Korea, though it is widely distributed in western Japan. We isolated and characterized five microsatellite loci in this species. The number of alleles ranged from 3 to 27, observed heterozygosity from 0.27 to 0.86, and expected heterozygosity from 0.34 to 0.91. The markers described here will be useful for investigating the genetic diversity, genetic structure, and gene flow of H. luteovenosa, and the genetic findings would contribute to the establishment of effective conservation measures for this species in Korea.

The population status of Hydrangea luteovenosa Koidz. in Korea was investigated, with an emphasis on its genetic diversity. From field surveys, we obtained the only locality record for a wild population in Jeju Island, which contained 285 individuals in total. Genotyping was performed using five microsatellite markers for the all extant plants in Korea. Three Japanese populations were also genotyped for the comparative analyses. The genotyping result showed that the Jeju population consisted of only two multilocus genotypes, including identical heterozygous genotypes at two loci; it had been maintained mostly by vegetative reproduction; and although the Jeju population is geographically far from Japanese populations, all alleles observed in the Korean population were shared with Japanese populations, suggesting the possibility that H. luteovenosa in the Jeju Island had been recently migrated or introduced from Japan. Future ecological and genetic studies associated with negative effects of low genetic variation will be essential for determining the conservation direction of the threatened Korean population of this species.

Study Design: Prospective experimental study on humans. Purpose: To determine whether postural differences during a low-speed impact are observed in the sagittal and axial views, particularly in a relaxed state. Overview of Literature: Three-dimensional motion capture systems have been used to analyze posture and head-neck-torso kinematics in humans during a simulated low-speed impact, yet little research has focused on the axial view. Since a seatbelt asymmetrically stabilizes a driver’s right shoulder and left lower waist into the seat, it potentially creates movement in the axial view. Methods: Three healthy adult men participated in the experimental series, which used a low-speed sled system. The acceleration pulse created a full sine shape with a maximum acceleration of 8.0 m/s2 at 500 ms, during which the kinematics were evaluated in relaxed and tensed states. The three-dimensional motion capture system used eight markers to record and analyze body movement and head-neck-torso kinematics in the sagittal and axial views during the low-speed impact. Head and trunk rotation angles were also calculated. Results: Larger movements were observed in the relaxed than in the tensed state in the sagittal view. The cervical and thoracic spine flexed and extended, respectively, in the relaxed state. In the axial view, larger movements were also observed in the relaxed state than in the tensed state, and the left shoulder rotated. Conclusions: During simulated frontal impact, the rotation angle between the head and trunk was significantly larger in the relaxed state. Therefore, we recommend also observing movement in the axial view during impact tests.

Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Seattle Angina Questionnaire, Japanese version (SAQ-J) as a disease-specific health outcome scale in patients with coronary artery disease. Methods Patients with coronary artery disease were recruited from a university hospital in Tokyo. The patients completed self-administered questionnaires, and medical information was obtained from the subjects’medical records. Face validity, concurrent validity evaluated using Short Form 36 (SF-36), known group differences, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability were statistically analyzed. Results A total of 354 patients gave informed consent, and 331 of them responded (93.5%). The concurrent validity was mostly supported by the pattern of association between SAQ-J and SF-36. The patients without chest symptoms showed significantly higher SAQ-J scores than did the patients with chest symptoms in 4 domains. Cronbach’s alpha ranged from .51 to .96, meaning that internal consistency was confirmed to a certain extent. The intraclass correlation coefficient of most domains was higher than the recommended value of 0.70. The weighted kappa ranged from .24 to .57, and it was greater than .4 for 14 of the 19 items. Conclusions The SAQ-J could be a valid and reliable disease-specific scale in some part for measuring health outcomes in patients with coronary artery disease, and requires cautious use.
