        In order to know knowledge and practice of rural housewives toward vaccination for children in rural area, a study was carried out from august, 9 to August, 16 1979 in the area of Mi-Geum Myun, Yang-Ju Gun, Kyung-Gi Do. For the study, out of 560 households 151 housewives were selected as study group which had children aged under 3 years. And the Results were as follows; 1) Population of the study area was 2,840 and number of children under 3 years old was 225(7.9%). 2) Educational level of housewives studied, was 4.0% in no formal education, 43.7% in primary school, 37.1% in middle school, and 15.2% in high school and college. 3) Utility rate of Health subcenter of housewives for child care was 17.2%. 4) Main source of information on vaccination was Health Subcenter and clinics (51.6%), neighborhood and families (17.4%), and newspaper and radio (12.4%) etc. 5) Housewives awareness of vaccination kinds for children was 78.1% in poliomyelitis, 67.5% in measles, 62.3% in D.P.T and 39.1% in B.C.G. 6) It seemed that higher educational level of housewives, higher awareness of D.P.T, and B.C.G vaccination, but in poliomyelitis and measles the awareness is not related to the educational level. 7) Vaccination rates of children aged under 3 years were 41.8% in poliomyelitis, 38.2% in D.P.T, 17.3% in B.C.G, and 16.4% in measles. 8) It seemed that distance from the health Subcenter to living place co-related to the vaccination rate of D.P.T and B.C.G, but not to poliomyelities and measles.

      • Combination of metformin and VSL#3 additively suppresses western-style diet induced colon cancer in mice

        <P>Western-style diet (WD) and dysbiosis are known to be associated with colonic inflammation, which contributes to carcinogenesis. Metformin (Met) exerts anti-inflammatory effects to induce AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), resulting in suppressed protein synthesis and reduced cell proliferation. Probiotic VSL#3 (V) modifies microbial composition. We investigated the chemopreventive mechanisms of Met and V in WD-induced colitis-associated colon carcinogenesis. Male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into five groups: a control diet (CD) group, WD group, WD+ Met (250 mg/kg/day) group, WD+V (1.3 million bacteria/day) group, and WD+ Met+V group. All mice were exposed to azoxymethane (10 mg/kg) followed by 2% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) for 7 days. Using HCT-116 human colon cancer cell line, expression of AMPK, extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), cyclin D1, and Bcl-2 was investigated and cell cycle arrest was assessed. WD enhanced the severity of colitis and tumor growth compared with CD. The combination of Met and V significantly ameliorated colitis and tumor growth by inhibiting macrophage infiltration and maintaining epithelial integrity. In vitro assays showed that the combination therapy promoted late apoptosis by inhibiting cyclin D1 and Bcl-2 and activating proapoptotic ERK. A combination therapy with Met and V attenuates tumor growth in a mouse model of WD-induced colitic cancer, suggesting that this strategy could be useful for the chemoprevention of colon cancer.</P>

        <P>We report on thermodynamic, magnetization, and muon spin relaxation measurements of the strong spin-orbit coupled iridate Ba3IrTi2O9, which constitutes a distinct frustration motif made up of a mixture of edge- and corner-sharing triangles. In spite of a strong antiferromagnetic exchange interaction of the order of 100 K, we find no hint for long-range magnetic order down to 23 mK. The magnetic specific heat data unveil T-linear and T-squared dependences at low temperatures below 1 K. At the respective temperatures, the zero-field muon spin relaxation features a persistent spin dynamics, indicative of unconventional low-energy excitations. A comparison to the 4d isostructural compound Ba3RuTi2O9 suggests that a concerted interplay of compasslike magnetic interactions and frustrated geometry promotes a dynamically fluctuating state in a triangle-based iridate.</P>

        수퍼 2상 스테인리스강의 피로균열 진전시 발생하는 음향방출신호 특성에 미치는 σ상 석출의 영향

        The fatigue crack propagation induced by σ phase precipitation of super duplex stainless steels aged at 600℃ was evaluated and the time-frequency analysis according to acoustic emission was conducted. The fracture mechanism by σ phase precipitation can be found from the time-frequency analysis of acoustic emission signals. As a result of aging at 600℃, the dispersed structure showed faster precipitation rate of σ phase than fibrous structure. The time-frequency analysis of acoustic emission signals obtained during the fatigue test revealed that, the specimens with non-precipitated σ phase induced a dominant frequency of 200∼300 ㎑ without any correlation with crack length. As the fatigue crack propagates (stage Ⅱ_c mode), the frequency range was in a high frequency range above 400 ㎑ in addition to frequency range of 200∼300 ㎑. On the other hand, the frequency range in the specimens with σ phase precipitated was not only 200∼300 ㎑ but also 400 ㎑ because of the fracture mechanism emanating high energy such as dimple fracture and separation of inclusion.

        주성분 분석을 이용한 거세한우의 체형분류에 관한 연구

        1997년부터 2001년까지 (사)한국종축개량협회의 전국한우능력평가대회에 출품된 642두의 거세한우의 도축 전까지 4회에 걸쳐 주요 10개 부위의 체형 측정치를 조사하여 주성분 분석을 이용하여 체형을 분류하였으며, 각 체형 측정치의 주성분 지수와 도체 형질과의 상관관계를 분석하였으며, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 1차, 2차, 3차 및 4차 체형 측정치의 principal component(이하 P.C) 1의 분산은 각각 7.610, 8.297, 7.269 및 5.736로서 전체분산 중 76.0%, 83.0%, 72.7% 및 57.4%를 나타낼 수 있었고, P.C 1, P.C 2, P.C 3의 합은 전체분산 중 각각 86.69%, 90.49%, 84.62% 및 77.26%를 나타났다. 2. 각 차수별 체형 측정치의 P.C 1의 모든 계수가 양(+)이어서 일반적으로 좋은 체구의 크기를 나타내었으며, 체구의 크기에 가장 크게 영향을 미치는 형질은 흉심(0.328∼0.339)과 요각폭(0.325∼0.341)이였다. 또한 P.C 2, P.C 3 및 P.C 4는 각 차수별로 다양하게 나타났다. 3. 1차, 2차, 3차 및 4차 체형 측정치의 주성분 지수들과 도체형질간의 상관계수 추정에서 대부분의 분산을 차지하는 P.C 1은 도체중(0.539∼0.755), 일당증체량(0.256∼0.564), 등지방두께(0.227∼0.280) 및 배최장근단면적(0.187∼0.344)간에 정(+)의 상관을 보였으며, 육량지수(-0.246∼-0.110)와는 부(-)의 상관을 보였고, 근내지방도(0.066∼0.099)와는 대부분 유의적인 상관을 보이지 않거나 낮은 상관을 보였고, P.C 2, P.C 3 및 P.C 4는 주성분 지수들의 값에 따라 도체형질과 다양한 상관관계를 보였다. 단일 체형형질과 도체형질간의 상관 그리고 P.C 1의 주성분 지수와 도체형질과의 상관간에는 큰 차이가 없었다. Data were consisted of the ten body measurements (withers height, rump height, body length, chest depth, chest width, rump width, rump length, thurls width, hipbone width and chest girth) of 642 steers (Korean cattle), which was entered in the National Beef Quality Contest hosted by the Korea Animal Improvement Association from 1997 to 2001. A principal components analysis was used to classify the body types of the steers, and estimate the correlations between carcass traits and principal components for the body measurements of the first, second, third and fourth period, respectively. The first principal component of body measurements at the first, second, third and fourth period accounted for 76.0%, 83.0%, 72.7% and 57.4% of the total variance, respectively. The sum of first, second and third principal component at each period accounted for 86.69%, 90.49%, 84.62% and 77.26% of the total variance, respectively. At each period, all the first principal component of the body measurements were positive and it generally showed large framed body shape. The size of body was influenced mostly by chest depth(0.328∼0.339) and rump length(0.325∼0.341). The second, third and fourth principal component at the each period were various. There were positive correlations between principal components index of each period and carcass traits such as carcass weight(0.539∼0.755), average daily gain(0.256∼0.564), backfat thickness(0.227∼0.280), and eye muscle area(0.187∼0.344). The correlation with yield grade index(-0.246∼-0.110), however, was negative. The correlation with marbling score(0.066∼0.099) was low or statistically insignificant. According to principal component indexes of the second, third, and fourth components, the correlations with the carcass traits were various. There were no large differences between the correlations of the single body measurement trait with the carcass traits and the correlations of the first principal component indexes with the carcass traits.

        A new technique using search method based on fuzzy multi-criteria function is proposed for generator maintenance scheduling. Minimization of probabilistic production cost, maximization of system reliability level and air pollution are considered for fuzzy multi-criteria function. To obtain an optimal solution for generator maintenance scheduling under fuzzy environment, fuzzy multi-criteria relaxation method(fuzzy search method) is used. The practicality and effectiveness of the proposed approach are demonstrated by the simulation results of the real size model system.

      • 대가축 난자에서 수정시 일어나는 난활성과 그 이후의 변화

        본 연구는 세포질내 구성물질, 즉 미세소관, 미세섬유, 표층과립의 움직임을 조사하였다. 미세섬유의 형성, 표층과립의 분포 등은 렉틴과 로다민으로 표지된 팔로이딘에 의한 형광염색법을 사용하여 공촛점주현미경으로 조사하였다. GV단계에서는 표층과립이 피질 주위에 비교적 두터운 층으로 형성되어 있었으며, 미세섬유도 세포피질 주위에 두터운 층으로 형성되어 있었으며, 미세섬유도 세포피질 주위에 두터운 형태로 형성되어 있었다. GVBD 이후에는 미세섬유는 핵 주위에 두터운 층을 형성하고 표층과립은 피질 주위에서 관찰되었다. Cytochalasin B을 처리하면 미세섬유의 형성이 방해되는데, 이로 인해 표층과립이 세포피질로 이동하는 것이 억제되었으며, 정자침입 후에는 표층과립 내용물들은 위란강내로 고르게 분포됨을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 미세섬유의 형성이 난자의 성숙, 수정과정 중 표층과립의 분포와 움직임에 연관이 있음을 나타내어 준다. In the paper we examined the dynamics of cytoplasmic content, such as microtubules, microfilaments and cortical granules. The microfilament assembly and cortical granule distribution were imaged with fluorescent labeled lectin and rhodamine labeled phalloidin under laser scanning confocal microscopy. At germinal vesicle stage, cortical granule organelles were located around the cell cortex and were present as a relatively thick area on the oolema. Microfilaments were also observed in a thick uniform area around the cell cortex. Following germinal vesicle breckdown, microfilaments concentrated to the condensed chromatin and cortical granules were observed in the cortex. Treatment with cytochalasin B inhibited microfilament polymerization and prevented movement of cortical granules to the cortex. Cortical graule exudate following sperm penetration was evenly distributed in the entire perivitelline space. These results suggested that the microfilament assembly is involved in the distribution, movement and exocytosis of cortical granules during maturation and fertilization.
