The purpose of the present study was designed to evaluate the bioequivalence of two ofloxacin tablets, Tarivid (Jell Pharm. Co., Ltd.) and Favid (ILHWA Co., Ltd.), according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). Twenty-four normal male volunteers, 23.67±3.12 year in age and 68.50±7.23 kg in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized 2x2 cross-over study was employed. After four tablets containing 100 mg of ofloxacin were orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and concentrations of ofloxacin in plasma were deter mined using HPLC. Pharmacokinetic parameters such as AUC_(t) and T_(max) were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters using logarithmically transformed AUC_(t), and C_(max) and untransformed T_(max). There were no sequence effects between two formulations in these parameters. The 90% confidence intervals for the log transformed data were acceptance range of log 0.8 to log 1.25 (e.g., log 0.94-log 1.04 and log 0.90-log 1.07 for AUC_(t) and C_(max) respectively). The major parameters. AUC_(t) and C_(max) met the criteria of KDFA for bioequivalence indicating that Favid tablet is bioequivalent to Tarivid tablet.

The performance at the adverse tilt of a loop heat pipe(LHP) with a flat square evaporator was experimentally investigated. The LHP was made of stainless steel and methanol was used as working fluid. The maximum heat load was 300 W(heat flux of 19 W/㎠) and its heating area was 40 ㎜ × 40 ㎜. The coolant inlet temperature at the condenser was maintained at 10℃. The LHP operated successfully at the adverse tilt angle of 90˚ for the heat load range of 38 W to 240 W. A cold start-up was demonstrated for a step heat input of 183 W. Sintered nickel was used as a capillary structure in the evaporator. The lowest thermal resistance was 0.186℃/W.

본 연구에서는 천연 미백소재 개발을 위하여 오가피에서 추출한 페놀산 분획의 멜라닌 생성에 연관된 생리활성을 분석하였다. 오가피에서 추출한 페놀산 분획은 free radical 소거활성(DPPH)에서 IC<sub>50</sub> = 3.43 ± 0.35 μg/mL, superoxide radicals 소거활성 IC<sub>50</sub> = 158.91 ± 1.57 μg/mL을 나타내었다. B16 melanoma 세포에서의 멜라닌 생합성 저해효과는 농도 의존적으로 저해하여 100 μg/mL에서 27.2 ± 2.65 %의 저해율을 보였다. 그리고 오가피에서 추출한 페놀산 분획은 100 μg/mL에서 세포 내 tyrosinase의 활성을 53.67 ± 8.55 % 저해하였으며, Western blot을 이용하여 tyrosinase와 tyrosinase 관련 단백질(TRP-2)의 발현 감소를 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 볼 때, 오가피에서 추출한 페놀산 분획은 tyrosinase의 활성 및 발현을 억제함으로써 멜라닌 생성을 감소시키는 것으로 사료된다. 그러므로 오가피에서 추출한 페놀산 분획추출물은 미백용도의 기능성 원료로써 큰 가능성을 가지고 있는 것으로 판단된다. To develop a new natural whitening agent for cosmetics, we investigated effects of Acanthopanax sessiliflorum Seeman on melanogenesis. We prepared phenolic acid-rich extract including two phenolic acids, chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid, as predominant constituents from Acanthopanax sessiliflorum Seeman. Phenolic acid-rich extract showed ROS scavenging activities in 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical and xanthine/xanthine oxidase system with the IC<sub>50</sub> values of 3.43 ± 0.35 μg/mL and 158.91 ± 1.57 μg/mL, respectively. Phenolic acid-rich fraction reduced melanin contents of B16 melanoma cells dose-dependantly and the decrease was 27.27 ± 2.66 % at a concentration of 100 μg/mL. And the phenolic acid-rich fraction reduced intracellular tyrosinase activity about 53.67 ± 8.55 % at a concentration of 100 μg/mL. Phenolic acid-rich extract inhibited tyrosinase and TRP-2 expression at protein level. These results suggest that phenolic acid-rich fraction reduced melanin formation by the inhibitions of tyrosinase activity and expression in B16 melanoma cells. Therefore, we suggest that phenolic acid-rich extract could be used as a whitening ingredient in cosmetics.

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two cetirizine HCl tablets, Zyrtec tablet (UCB Pharm. Co., Ltd. Korea, reference product) and Zyrix tablet (Kukje Pharm. Co., Ltd., Korea, test product), according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). After adding an internal standard (diazepam), plasma samples were extracted using 1 mL of dichloromethane. Compounds extracted were analyzed by reverse-phase HPLC with ultra-violet detector. This method for determination cetirizine is proved accurate and reproducible with a limit of quantitation of 10 ng/mL in male plasma. Twenty-four healthy male Korean volunteers received each medicine at the cetirizine HCl dose of 10 mg in a $2{\times}2$ crossover study. There was a one-week wash out period between the doses. Plasma concentrations of cetirizine were monitored for over a period of 24 hr after the administration. AUC (the area under the plasma concentration-time curve) was calculated by the linear trapezoidal rule. $C_{max}$ (maximum plasma drug concentration) and $T_{max}$ (time to reach $C_{max}$) were compiled from the plasma concentration-time data. Analysis of variance was carried out using logarithmically transformed AUC and $C_{max}$. No significant sequence effect was found for all of the bioavailability parameters indicating that the crossover design was properly performed. The 90% confidence intervals for the log transformed data were acceptable range of log 0.8 to log 1.25 $(e.g.,\;log\;0.93-log\;1.08\;for\;AUC_{0-t},\;log\;0.91-log\;1.08\;for\;AUC_{0-{\infty}}\;and\;log\;1.01-log\;1.11\;for\;C_{max})$. The major parameters, AUC and $C_{max}$ met the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence indicating that Zyrix tablet is bioequivalent to Zyrtec tablet.
Arthroscopic Internal Fixation of Displaced Tibial Eminence Fracture Using Cannulated Screw

목적: 소아에서 전위된 경골 융기부 골절 Meyer & McKeever 제 2형과 제 3형에서 도관 나사를 이용한 관절경적 정복술의 결과를 보고하고자 한다. 대상 및 방법: 1997년 2월에서 2005년 10월까지 소아에서 전위된 경골 융기부 골절 10예(Meyer & McKeever 제 2형 4예, 제 3형 6예)에서 도관 나사를 이용한 관절경적 정복술을 시행하였다. 추시 관찰상 불안정성, 관절운동범위, 골유합이 평가되었다. 평균 추시 관찰기간은 22.4개월이었다. 결과: 모든 환자에서 골유합을 얻었으며 Lachman 검사상 음성이었다. 제 3형의 1예를 제외하고 관절운동범위는 정상이었다. Lysholm 슬관절 점수는 평균 96.3 (최저92.6-최고99.0)로 나타났다. 결론: 소아 전위된 경골 융기부 골절의 Meyer & McKeever 제 2형과 제 3형에서 도관 나사를 이용한 관절경적 정복술은 골절편의 단단한 고정으로 조기 관절운동을 통해 만족스러운 결과를 보였다. Purpose: This study examined the outcome of arthroscopic internal fixation for types Ⅱ and Ⅲ tibial eminence fractures in children using a cannulated screw. Materials and Methods: A series of 10 cases of displaced fractures of tibial eminence of the tibia that were treated with an arthroscopic cannulated screw fixation from February, 1997 to October, 2005 were examined. Four patients had a type Ⅱ and six patients had a type Ⅲ tibial eminence fracture according to the Meyer and McKeever's classification. All the patients were reviewed radiographically and clinically for bone union, instability and the range of motion after an average follow-up of 22.4 months (range, 12 to 81 months). Results: There were no cases of nonunion. The clinical examination showed that, all the patients with types Ⅱ and Ⅲ lesions had a negative Lachman test, and a full range of motion with the exception of one patient with a type Ⅲ fracture. The average Lysholm functional score was 96.3 (mim 92.6-max 99.0) for all types Ⅱ and Ⅲ lesions. Conclusion: Arthroscopic internal fixation with a cannulated screw for types Ⅱ and Ⅲ avulsion fractures of the tibial eminence in children can provide a satisfactory outcome through firm fixation of the fragment and an early start of the range of motion.
췌장 미부에 발생한 췌장 내분비종양에 의한 위정맥류 출혈 1예

저자들은 혈변, 흑색변을 주소로 내원한 27세 남자 환자에서 위내시경으로 고립성 위분문부정맥류에 의한 출혈이 있어 원인 질환 평가 등으로 췌장 종양에 의한 비정맥폐쇄에 의한다고 생각되어 외과적수술을 시행하여 비기능성 췌장 내분비종양에 의함을 확인한 증례를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Isolated obstruction of the splenic vein leads to segmental portal hypertension, which is mainly originated from pancreatic disease, such as chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic pseudocyst, pancreatic cancer. The clinical manifestation are devoid of ascites and encephalopathy, but presented with gastric variceal bleeding. We experienced 27-year-old male patient who complained or hematochezia and melena. After work-up with CT and angiography, we performed operation with the impression of pancreatic tumor associated with splenic vein occlusion. It resulted nonfunctioning pancreatic endocrine tumor. Ofter called islet cell tumor, pancreatic endocrine tumor has various names according to secreted hormones, such as inculinoma, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and glucagonoma. It was classified as nonfunctioning tumor if there were any evidence of hormone secretin by radioimmunoassay and immunogistochemistry. Surgical excision and adjuvant medical therapy is the mainstay of therapy. We performed tumor resection and splenectomy for control of gastric variceal bleeding due to splenic vein occlusion.
