Background and Objectives: Transforming growth factor-α (TGF-α) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) are polypeptides which interact with the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) to produce their biological effects. The aim of the present investigation was to elucidate the immunolocalization of TGF-α and EGF in normal human skin, hypertrophic scar with skin graft on soft tissue defect, and postburn hypertrophic scar without graft. Methods: The data presented in this paper focused attention on differences of expression between two kinds of hypertrophic scars in relation to skin graft using immunohistochemistry. Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissues from 3 normal skin tissues, 3 hypertrophic scars after skin graft and 8 postburn hypertrophic scars without graft were immunolabelled with antibodies directed against TGF-α and EGF. Results: In normal epidermis of skin, strong TGF-α immunoreactivity (IR) was observed in all epidermal layers except the stratum (S.) basale, whereas EGF was immunopositive in a few cells over all epidermal layers. The staining for TGF-α was found in cell membrane, and EGF was seen either diffuse cytoplasmic or peripheral part of cells in normal epidermis. In hypertrophic scar after six months postoperation, TGF-α IR was observed in the upper part of S. spinosum and S. corneum, whereas EGF was diffusely expressed in the S. spinosum, also its intensity was slightly increased compared to normal skin. In hypertrophic scar without skin graft, very strong expression of EGF was detected in the S. spinosum and S. corneum, and intensity of EGF was increased when compared to normal skin and postoperative hypertrophic scar. EGF and TGF-α coexisted in the cells of S. spinosum in normal skin as well as hypertrophic scars. Double-labeled cells were increased in postburn hypertrophic scar compared to normal skin and postoperative hypertrophic scar. In addition, intensity of EGF and TGF-α double IR was the strongest in postburn hypertrophic scar. Conclusion: These results indicate that EGF may have a more complex regulatory role not only in the early stages of wound healing but also in hypertrophic scar.

<P>The microstructure and characteristics of silicon-incorporated diamond-like carbon film, fabricated using a radio-frequency plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition process with hexamethyldisilane [(CH3)3,Si x Si(CH3)3:HMDS] gas as a silicon source, were investigated. Diamond-like carbon films with silicon compositions from 0 to 5 atomic percent were deposited onto ultra-fine grained AZ31 magnesium alloy substrate as buffer layers or multilayers. Si doping led not only to an increase in the bonding ratio (sp3/sp2), but improvements in hardness, critical adhesion, and corrosion resistance. Out of the investigated samples, the multi-deposited silicon diamond-like carbon thin film on magnesium substrate showed the best combination of adhesive, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance properties.</P>

Gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) is a liquid electrolyte (LE) entrapped by polymer network, which is characterized by the properties between those of liquid and solid electrolytes in terms of the ionic conductivity and the physical phase. In this talk, we focus on GPEs that are gelated in situ within cells. A mixture of LE and monomer or polymer in a liquid phase is introduced into a pre-assembled cell without electrolyte, followed by thermal gelation based on physical gelation, monomer polymerization or polymer cross-linking. Therefore, GPEs are formed omnipresent in cells, covering the pores of electrode material particles, voids between the particles, and even the pores of separators. Resultantly, different from ex situ formed GPEs, the in situ GPEs have no electrode/electrolyte contact problems. Functional GPEs are introduced as a more advanced form of GPEs, improving lithium ion transference number or capturing transition metals released from electrode materials.

HITSP(Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel)은 헬스 케어 관련 산업의 상호 운용성을 위해 일반적으로 수용되고 유용한 표준들을 선별하여 표준 세트를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다. HITSP에서는 평생전자건강진료정보(EHR, Electronic Health Record)의 활성화를 위해 첫 번째 해결해야 할 영역으로 검사실 결과 정보 교류를 정하였다. 이에 본 논문에서는 검사실 결과 정보 교류를 위한 방법으로 HITSP에서 제시하는 HL7 버전 2.x 메시지와 CDA 방법 중 인증(authentication) 처리가 가능하고 영속성(persistence)이 있는 CDA 방법을 선택하였다. 또한 CDA를 작성하고 처리하는 방법을 제시하고, 더 나아가 평생전자건강진료정보(EHR)를 위해 CDA를 적용하여 검사실 결과 정보를 교류하여 보았다. 이에 병원과 EHR 시스템의 상호 운용성이 높아져 진료 과정의 효율성을 높일 수 있었고 환자와 의료진에게 양질의 검사 결과 정보를 제공할 수 있었다.
A Study on the Transition and Classification of Somatotyping

Experts of medicine, philosophy and psychology found that human somatotypes were related to personality or physical characteristics and classified somatotypes into various forms. This study explored the changes and types of somatotyping methods from Before Christ to present day and identified the status of studies of somatotypes in the area of physical therapy. This study covered the methods applied in various majors with a focus on those provided in books and papers of Heath BH. and Carter JEL. Based on the results, there are officially twelve assessment methods. Currently, the method of Heath & Carter is most widely applied. Somatotypes are studied in many areas. It is actively explored in the area of pain physical therapy, thermotherapy and integumentary physical therapy. Also, the soft tissue physical therapy area seeks interdisciplinary studies. This study found that there were various assessment methods in diverse areas. It is likely that continuous studies will develop new assessment methods. It is hoped that in the area of physical therapy, somatotypes shall be applied more amply.

Complementarity determining region(CDR3) of immunoglobulin is the center of antigen binding site. Changes in the number of amino acids of CDR3 may result in change in antigen binding specificity and affinity. The majority of immunoglobulin x chain has 9 or 10 amino acid co-dons in the CDR3 region. Immunoglobulin x chain containing CDR3 with 11 amino acid codons cannot be made without N-region addition. The aims of this study were to evaluate the presence of immunoglobulin x light chain with 11 amino acid codons in its CDR3 domain expressed in the peripheral blood lymphocytes(PBLs) of normal individuals and to correlate amino acid codon length in CDR3 region with age and sex. RNA was isolated from PBLs of normal individuals and x chain was PCR amplified. Amino acid length of CDR3 region was determined by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. A low but constant expression of immunoglobulin x chain with 11 amino acid codons in CDR3 region in normal individuals was found (mean±SD=11.72±1.80%). Significant correlation was not found between amino acid length in CDR3 region of x chain and age or sex. These findings suggest that the concept that N-region addition in x light chain does not occur due to absence of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) needs to be reconsidered. The existence of long CDR3 K chain in PBLs of normal individuals may reflect that CDR diversity in is quite common. Amino acid length of x chain CDR3 is not regulated during development and there is no influence of sex on the expression of x chain containing CDR3 with 11 amino acids.
榮山江 上流에서 퉁사리 Liobagrus obesus(Pisces: Amblycipitidae)의 出現

In order to study the freshwater fish fauna of Yongsangang system, freshwater fishes were collected at 2 stations in Hwangyongang from may, 1988. to June, 1988. Including 9 indviduals of Liobagrus obesus, total of 19 genera, 26 species of fishes were collected. Morphological and karyological characters of these six L. obesus coincided well with those of L. obesus collected previously by son (1987) in Kumgang and Ungeh'onch'on. Therefore it was remarkable that L. obesus was collected for the first time in the upper stream of Yongsangang system.
