The purpose of this work was to separate isoflavone aglycones from soy whey wastewater after foam fractionation and acidic hydrolysis using chitosan microspheres. The maximal equilibrium adsorption capacity could be obtained at pH 6.0. The adsorption isotherm fitted better to the Freundlich equation model and the adsorption was an exothermic and spontaneous physical process. The maximal desorption ratio of isoflavone aglycones could reach 94.82% by using 70% (v/v) ethanol as desorption solution. Moreover, the regenerated chitosan microspheres could be reused for separating isoflavone aglycones from the feeding solution up to five times without compromising their function.

Di Gai,Heng Luo,Jing He, Baogang Xie,Pengxiang Su,Zheng Huang,Song Zhang,Zhijun Tu 한국인터넷정보학회 2023 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.17 No.9
Medical image segmentation techniques based on convolution neural networks indulge in feature extraction triggering redundancy of parameters and unsatisfactory target localization, which outcomes in less accurate segmentation results to assist doctors in diagnosis. In this paper, we propose a multi-level semantic-rich encoding-decoding network, which consists of a Pooling-Conv-Former (PCFormer) module and a Cbam-Dilated-Transformer (CDT) module. In the PCFormer module, it is used to tackle the issue of parameter explosion in the conservative transformer and to compensate for the feature loss in the down-sampling process. In the CDT module, the Cbam attention module is adopted to highlight the feature regions by blending the intersection of attention mechanisms implicitly, and the Dilated convolution-Concat (DCC) module is designed as a parallel concatenation of multiple atrous convolution blocks to display the expanded perceptual field explicitly. In addition, Multi-Head Attention-DwConv-Transformer (MDTransformer) module is utilized to evidently distinguish the target region from the background region. Extensive experiments on medical image segmentation from Glas, SIIM-ACR, ISIC and LGG demonstrated that our proposed network outperforms existing advanced methods in terms of both objective evaluation and subjective visual performance.

Background: Our aim was to conduct a meta-analysis to compare the efficacy and safety of pemetrexed and docetaxel for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods: We systematically searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, China Biology Medicine Database for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the efficacy and toxicities of pemetrexed versus docetaxel as a treatment for advanced NSCLC. We limited the languages to English and Chinese. Two reviewers independently screened articles to identify eligible trials according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and assessed the methodological quality of included trials, and then extracted data. The meta-analysis was performed using STATA12.0. Results: Six RCTs involving 1,414 patients were identified. We found that there was no statistically significant differences in overall response rate, survival time, progression-free survival, disease control rate, and 1-2yr survival rate (p>0.050) but it is worthy of mention that patients in the pemetrexed arms had significantly higher 3-yr survival rate (P=0.002). With regard to the grade 3 or 4 hematological toxicity, compared with docetaxel, pemetrexed led to lower rate of grade 3-4 febrile neutropenia, neutropenia, and leukocyts toxicity (p<0.001). There was no significant difference in anemia between the two arms (p=0.08). In addition, pemetrexed led to higher rate of grade 3-4 thrombocytopenia toxicity (p=0.03). As for the non-hematological toxicities, compared with docetaxel, pemetrexed group had lower rate of grade 3-4 diarrhea and alopecia. Conclusions: Pemetrexed was almost as effective as docetaxel in patients with advanced NSCLC. At the same time, pemetrexed might increase the 3-yr survival rate. As for safety, pemetrexed led to lower rate of grade 3-4 febrile neutropenia, neutropenia, leukocytes, diarrhea and alopecia toxicity. However, it was associated with a higher rate of grade 3-4 thrombocytopenia.

In accordance with the collapse characteristic of trench wall during underground diaphragm wall construction, a modified three-dimensional (3D) failure mechanism of trench wall is established. By introducing nonlinear characteristic and the nonhomogeneity of soil into the theoretical calculation, the objective function of the safety factor (Fs) of the trench wall in the limit condition is derived, and the upper bound solution of the Fs of the slurry trench is derived by employing the optimization computation. To prove the validity of the presented approach, the solutions derived from the presented method are compared with those previous solutions and the comparing results show a good agreement. Moreover, the parametric analysis is conducted to study the effect of various parameters on the stability of trench wall. The results of parametric analysis show that nonlinear and the nonhomogeneous parameters have significant influence on the safety factors, and the nonlinear failure characteristic of the nonhomogeneity of soil cannot be ignored in the practical engineering.
Bandwidth Partition and Allocation for Efficient Spectrum Utilization in Cognitive Communications
Song Huang,Di Yuan,Anthony Ephremides 한국통신학회 2019 Journal of communications and networks Vol.21 No.4
Conventional cognitive communications rely heavily onthe smartness of secondary (unlicensed) users (SUs) to achieve highspectrum utilization, which involves the optimization of the SUs’policies and behaviors for dynamic spectrum access, power allocationamong multiple channels, etc. Due to the inherent randomnessof the primary users’ (PUs’) transmission, those efforts inevitablyincrease the implementation complexity and sensing overheads ofthe SUs, and in turn lower the spectrum utilization efficiency. Inthis paper, we try to change the focus from SU to PU. A cooperativetraffic allocation strategy for PU, together with the non-uniformbandwidth partition, is employed to regularize the PU’s resourceoccupancy pattern without compromising its performance, and tomaximize the spare bandwidth for the SU at the same time. Wefirst study the capacity based optimization problem (COP) togetherwith the fully polynomial time approximation scheme (FPTAS) foran approximation guarantee of the global optimum. Then we analyzethe subcarrier based optimization problem as the surrogateproblem of COP, which can be solved by a greedy algorithm exactly. Both the theoretical analysis and the numerical simulationsdemonstrate the effectiveness of those methods to achieve the performancethat almost identical to that of the global optimum solution.
Mechanical simulation for the bending process of the AMOLED panel pad
Wu Di,Jia Yongzhen,Liao Dunming,Zhang Bo,Liu Chen,Wang Ning,Peng Wenjing,Huang Liting 한국정보디스플레이학회 2023 Journal of information display Vol.24 No.2
Panel pad bending is a critical process to improve the screen-to-body ratio of an active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) panel. The failure analysis of the metal wirings is the key to ensure the reliability of signal transmission when the pad be bent to the back of the panel. In the present work, the sub-modeling technique combined with the periodic boundary condition was used to simulate the stress distribution of the bending area of the pad. The progressive failure of bent metal wirings was investigated by the extended finite element method. It is proved to be rational to prevent the wirings damage if the interlayer dielectric is replaced by an organic layer. In order to reduce stress of metal wirings, it is a measure to replace the original ultraviolet (UV) curable adhesive with a higher-modulus UV adhesive. The simulated results also show that rectangular perforations can avoid the stress concentration caused by the holes compared with circular perforations. For better stress distribution of metal wirings, it is necessary to increase the lengths of the rectangular holes and decrease the widths of that to a certain extent, which is helpful for restraining crack propagation by means of low-stress zones and holes.
