The Effect of Liquidity Creation on Bank Capital: A Case Study in Indonesia

Ahmad FUAD,Disman DISMAN,Nugraha NUGRAHA,Mayasari MAYASARI,Ahmad FUAD 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.5

This paper aims to examine the moderating role of bank competition on the effect of liquidity creation on bank capital. We measure bank competition using the Lerner index approach, liquidity creation using the Catfat approach, and bank capital using the capital to total asset ratio approach. This test also considers control variables from bank-specific factors such as Return on Assets, Loan to Deposit Ratio, and Non-Performance Loans as well as macroeconomic factors such as Gross Domestic Product, inflation, and Bank Indonesia interest rates. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data sample obtained was 96 banks from a population of 114 banks in Indonesia which consistently operated during the period 2008–2018. Hypothesis testing uses panel data regression analysis techniques through the first model of the Hayes method. The results show that the negative effect of liquidity creation on bank capital depends on competition. We found that bank competition at any level (low, medium, high) negatively moderates (weakens) the effect of liquidity creation on bank capital in all banks. This finding is consistent with the view that banks may strengthen their capital in response to bank competition which may decrease the level of bank liquidity creation.

      • تاعيات قرارر ئيس ار.م يكي ترامب للانسحا بقوات بلاده في سوريا

        ( Fuad Othman ) 단국대학교 GCC국가연구소 2019 걸프지역연구 Vol.4 No.1

The president of the USA has justified the withdrawal of its country’s troops from Syria by defeating DAESH and ending their tasks “ the terrorist group of DAESH has defeated in Syria, we finished our tasks in there; when we sent our troops for three months and has finished its mission with our allies and we defeated DAESH and its overpower and remain in terrorism and its turn of regional countries”. Some understanding this that Trump means Saudi’s role to fight terrorism and said (the group of “Islamic State” is the problem of other countries. There are many queries about the decision in the political field and it has been the subject to be criticized. Obviously ,it has not welcomed by the senior USA officials especially the consultants and regional specialists; the Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL, Brett Mcgurk, has immediately resigned from its position. Over and above, the time and the situation of the decision have been criticized on social media by others. The decision has been rejected strongly and if it implements, it will make bad effects on war against terrorism and ending the terrorist group that called DASH in the region and Syria especially. The regional countries like Turkey has focused on Syria to revenge on the groups that allied with USA to overpowered DASH especially The Kurdish force People’s Protections Units (YPG) and Syrian Democratic forces. In addition, most of the forces in Kurdistan Region believe that the withdrawal troops will make reactivate the extremist groups and instability in the area. Likewise, the Kurdish forces are frightening from the withdrawal decision and Turkey’s threaten to North of Syria which makes to lose control on the terrorist groups and the peace of world. Besides, the officials form Israel has not criticized the Trump’s withdrawal decision, but they want to benefit from the situation. The withdrawal of the USA’s troops in Syria will make a gap that will be contribute to give roles to terrorist groups and DASH; and the Syrian Democratic parties will arrest its members; beside the Turkey’s attack on the Kurdish forces that they are big part of the allies against DASH . Turkey believes that leaving the area will make a military gap and it wants to attack the areas that controlled by the Kurdish force in north and east of Syria. That make the allies forces with USA have been frighten from the decision, but in contrast it will be a good point for regional countries like Iran which USA believes it is the sponsor of terrorism; and make instability for its ally Israel as well. We as observers will see the withdrawal mission is an military tactic that they will be settled in the nearest point in the border in Ain Alasad Base which is not far from the conflicted area that left in Syria and it will be back in anytime as affected its interest in the region. Furthermore, it will expand Iranian’s role in the area by supporting the Shii group of Hizbullah Lubnany and the Shiite groups in Iraq under Hash Al-Shaaby (Popular Mobilization Forces), all these make USA to withdraw from its decision and at least remain part of its troops in the area, and depending on observers analysis the next few month the USA will be having an important role in it to settle down the situation especially remove the conflict between Baghdad and Erbil, and formatting the Iraqi government , the conflicts among Shii groups and the internal difficulties

Correlation between Echocardiographic Pulmonary Artery Pressure Estimates and Right Heart Catheterization Measurement in Liver Transplant Candidates

        Fuad Habash,Pooja Gurram,Ahmed Almomani,Andres Duarte,Abdul Hakeem,Srikanth Vallurupalli,Sabha Bhatti 한국심초음파학회 2018 Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging (J Cardiovasc Im Vol.26 No.2

BACKGROUND: Patients undergoing liver transplant have worse outcomes in the presence ofpulmonary hypertension. Correlation between echocardiography and catheterization derivedpressures in this population is not well studied. Our study's aim is to show the relationshipbetween pulmonary artery systolic pressure derived from transthoracic echo (ePASP) withpulmonary artery systolic pressure measured during right heart catheterization (cPASP). METHODS: Single center retrospective study, patients being evaluated for liver transplant(n = 31) who had an interpretable Doppler signal for ePASP and had right heart catheterization(RHC) measurements within 3 months constituted the study group. Control group (n = 49)consisted of patients who did not have liver disease. RESULTS: There was modest correlation between ePASP and cPASP (R = 0.58, p < 0.001) in LTcandidates (n = 31) compared with the control group (R = 0.74, p < 0.001, n = 49). The 95%limits of agreement by Bland-Altman analysis ranged from +33.6 mmHg to −21.7 mmHg. Using receiver operating characteristic analysis, ePASP cut-off > 47 mmHg was 59% sensitiveand 78% specific to diagnose pulmonary artery (PA) hypertension (mean PA pressure > 25mmHg) in the LT candidates, while a similar cutoff performed well in the control group(cutoff > 43 mmHg, n = 47, 91% sensitive, 100% specific). CONCLUSIONS: Compared with other disease states, ePASP correlates modestly with cPASPin patients with advanced liver disease. A higher ePASP cutoff should be used to screen forpulmonary hypertension. A multi-center prospective study with simultaneous transthoracicechocardiography and RHC measurements is required to determine the best cut-off in thispopulation.

Intraseasonal-to-Interannual Variability of the Upper-Layer Zonal Currents in the Tropical Northwest Pacific Ocean

        Fuad Azminuddin,전동철,신창웅 한국해양과학기술원 2019 Ocean science journal Vol.54 No.1

The upper-layer circulation in the Tropical Northwest Pacific Ocean (TNWP) is characterized by the alternating zonal currents, such as North Equatorial Current (NEC) and Subtropical Countercurrent (STCC). The variabilities of the upper-layer zonal currents in the TNWP, which were obtained directly from 75 kHz acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) measurements and indirectly from geostrophic calculations, were investigated on intraseasonal to interannual timescales from 2006 to 2014. Surface geostrophic current derived from sea surface height anomaly (SSHA) approximated well to the in-situ measurements with ADCP that was slightly better than the absolute geostrophic current obtained from AVISO. The interannual signals related to the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) were quite apparent, especially near the boundary (about 17.5°N–19°N) between NEC and STCC. We found that the eastward-flowing southern STCC develops during the decaying phase of ENSO and weakens during La Niña. Strong easterlies during strong La Niña (e.g., 2010 La Niña event) seem to influence NEC to expand further north to the southern STCC region and this coincides with the meridional migration of the Sverdrup streamfunction. The southern STCC region is profoundly influenced by the mesoscale/sub-mesoscale eddy activities, which can intensify the eastward flow of STCC and ultimately contribute to the intraseasonal signal. We found that this intraseasonal signal weakened when La Niña happened in 2010, which is presumably associated with the northward expansion of NEC. Possible factors related to the discrepancies between surface geostrophic current and sub-surface ADCP data are discussed.

ON STRONGLY 1-ABSORBING PRIMARY IDEALS OF COMMUTATIVE RINGS

Almahdi, Fuad Ali Ahmed,Bouba, El Mehdi,Koam, Ali N.A. Korean Mathematical Society 2020 대한수학회보 Vol.57 No.5

Let R be a commutative ring with 1 ≠ 0. In this paper, we introduce a subclass of the class of 1-absorbing primary ideals called the class of strongly 1-absorbing primary ideals. A proper ideal I of R is called strongly 1-absorbing primary if whenever nonunit elements a, b, c ∈ R and abc ∈ I, then ab ∈ I or c ∈ ${\sqrt{0}}$. Firstly, we investigate basic properties of strongly 1-absorbing primary ideals. Hence, we use strongly 1-absorbing primary ideals to characterize rings with exactly one prime ideal (the UN-rings) and local rings with exactly one non maximal prime ideal. Many other results are given to disclose the relations between this new concept and others that already exist. Namely, the prime ideals, the primary ideals and the 1-absorbing primary ideals. In the end of this paper, we give an idea about some strongly 1-absorbing primary ideals of the quotient rings, the polynomial rings, and the power series rings.

The Influence of Related Party Transaction and Corporate Governance on Firm Value

Aulia Fuad RAHMAN,Yeterina Widi NUGRAHANTI 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.6

This study aims to examine the effect of political connections on firm value through related party transaction (RPT) as a mediator in the context of emerging Indonesian economy. This study also aims to investigate the moderating role of corporate governance mechanism on the relationship between political connections and RPT. The theory used as the basis for this research is agency theory. The corporate governance mechanism tested in this study consists of independent board of commissioners, institutional ownership and board of commissioner size. Tobin’s Q is used to measure firm value. The population of this study is all companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015–2018. Purposive sampling was conducted, and 271 non-financial companies (1,084 firm-years) were identified as the samples. For testing the hypotheses, panel generalized least square (GLS) using EViews 10 was used. The findings showed that political connection had a negative impact on firm value. The results also showed that RPT abnormal account receivables and RPT abnormal asset non-account receivable mediate the relationship between political connections and firm value. In addition, it is found that corporate governance mechanism, especially the proportion of independent board of commissioners and institutional ownerships, weakens the positive effect of political connection on RPTs.
