Objectives: In the present study, we assessed the effects of the ethanolic extract of Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge on the learning and memory impairments induced by scopolamine using the passive avoidance and the Morris water maze tasks in mice. Methods: The cognition-enhancing effect of C. pinnatifida was investigated using a passive avoidance test, the Morris water maze test and Y-maze test in mice. Drug-induced amnesia was induced by treating animals with scopolamine (1 mg/kg, i.p.). Results: The ethanolic extract of C. pinnatifida (100, and 200 mg/kg) significantly reversed the scopolamine-induced cognitive impairments in the passive avoidance test (p < 0.05). Moreover, C. pinnatifida (200 mg/kg) also improved escape latencies in training trials and increased swimming times and distances within the target zone of the Morris water maze (p < 0.05). On the Y-maze test, C. pinnatifida (100, and 200 mg/kg) also significantly reversed scopolamine-induced cognitive impairments in mice (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The ethanolic extract of Crataegus pinnatifida dramatically possesses the anti-amnestic and cognitive-enhancing activities related to the memory processes, and these activities were parallel to treatment duration and dependent on the learning models.

Bin Yang,Yan-Li Deng,Xia Ru,Ji-Bin Miao,Ming Cao,Jia-Sheng Qian,Li-Fen Su,Peng Chen,Jing-Wang Liu,La-Xia Wu,Tao Pang 한국고분자학회 2016 폴리머 Vol.40 No.4
Two types of β nucleating agents (β-NAs), aryl dicarboxylic acid amide (TMB-5) and diphenyl phthalate diamine (NT-C), were adopted to modify the polypropylene (PP)/ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) blends, which were prepared by dynamic-vulcanization technology. Wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to study the crystallization kinetics of PP. Our results showed that the addition of β-NAs can considerably increase the crystallization temperature, and significantly decrease the spherulite size of β-PP (L300). The Jeziorny analysis showed there were ~82% and ~89% of relative crystallinity generated from the primary crystallization in the composites containing TMB-5 and NT-C, respectively. The crystallization half time (t0.5) showed that NT-C improved the overall crystallization rate more effectively than TMB-5. In addition, the peaks of the relative crystallization rate curves were shifted towards higher temperature by 14 and 9℃ with the addition of TMB-5 and NT-C, respectively.

Minimizing power consumption in bandwidth limited optical traffic grooming networks is presented as a two-objective optimization problem. Since the main objective is to route a connection, the network throughput is maximized first, and then the minimum power consumption solution is found for this maximized throughput. Both transparent IP over WDM (Tp-IPoWDM) and translucent IP over WDM (Tl-IPoWDM) network may be applied to examine such bi-objective algorithms. Simulations show that the bi-objective algorithms are more energy-efficient than the single objective algorithms where only the throughput is optimized. For a Tp-IPoWDM network, both link based ILP (LB-ILP) and path based ILP (PB-ILP) methods are formulated and solved. Simulation results show that PB-ILP can save more power than LB-ILP because PB-ILP has more path selections when lightpath lengths are limited. For a Tl-IPoWDM network, only PB-ILP is formulated and we show that the Tl-IPoWDM network consumes less energy than the Tp-IPoWDM network, especially under a sparse network topology. For both kinds of networks, it is shown that network energy efficiency can be improved by over-provisioning wavelengths, which gives the network more path choices.

OmpA signal peptide mediated cgt gene from Paenibacillus macerans JFB05-01 was cloned and expressed in E. coli BL21 (DE3). The effects of glycine and Triton X-100 on extracellular production of α-cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase (α-CGTase) were investigated. When supplemented with Gly or Triton X-100 to the culture media individually, the secreted extracellular enzyme reached 32or 33 U/mL at 48 h of cultivation, respectively. When supplemented with Gly and Triton X-100 together, the extracellular α-CGTase activity reached 48 U/mL after 48 h cultivation, which was 20-fold of the control group without any additives. Analysis of membrane permeability demonstrated that addition of glycine and Triton X-100enhanced the permeability of both outer and inner membrane. The potential mechanism of the enhanced protein secretion was discussed.

Bin Wang,Jun Guo,Dong Su 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.8 No.4
The business and payment can be achieved not only using real money but also virtual one. With the rapid development of e-commerce, the virtual one will be more convenient for transaction. Therefore, an SSPP (Self-Service Pre-Payment) courier system is presented, which characterizes an innovative, convenient and efficient NFC (Near Field Communication) pre-payment system based on card simulation mode. The pre-payment process concerning virtual currency has been supported through a simple NFC device, which operates in RF (Radio Frequency) band. It ensures the micro-payment services of mobile to POS can be achieved. In this paper, an efficient scheme is described to check its feasibility, and some experimental results have also been given to verify that this system is candidate for the future express industry.

The in vitro antibacterial properties of two kinds of chitosan solutions and their effect in protection of broccoli from bacterial head rot disease were evaluated. Results showed that the two kinds of chitosan solution at different concentrations exhibited strong antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas fluorescens. However, the antibacterial activity of chitosan A solution increased with the increase of chitosan concentration up to 0.10mg/ml while the antibacterial activity of chitosan B solution increased with the increase of chitosan concentration up to 0.05 mg/ml. In addition, the antibacterial activity of chitosan A and chitosan B solution of 0.10mg/ml increased with the incubation time within 12 h and 24 h, respectively. The disease incidence and the lesion diameter of broccoli inoculated with P. fluorescens were significantly reduced when plants were either pretreated or post-treated with six different combinations of chitosan solutions. Overall, the results indicated that the two kinds of chitosan solutions had a potential in controlling bacterial head rot of broccoli.

Bacterial leaf spot of Euphorbia pulcherrima has been reported in many countries. Characterization by polyphasic approaches indicated that the isolates from India, USA and New Zealand could be distinguished based on rep-PCR profiles and gyrB phylogenies, while the Chinese isolates should be ascribed to Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. poinsettiicola.

Foodborne pathogens causing food poisoning and infections are detrimental to human health, and the abuse of antibiotics induced severe antibiotic resistance in past decades. Thus, it is urgent to develop new antimicrobial agents. In the current study, human β-defensin 130 (hBD130), which is an antimicrobial peptide identified in human macrophages in 2017, was initially produced in Pichia pastoris. The purified hBD130 demonstrated broad bactericidal spectrum against foodborne pathogens through a membrane disruption, with concentrations ranging from 10 to 45 μg/mL. Moreover, hBD130 showed a low hemolytic effect and nearly no cytotoxicity to mammalian cells with a dosage of 400 μg/mL. In addition, the secretion amounts and mRNA levels of NO, IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α in LPS-induced mouse macrophage were significantly decreased with 1 mg/mL of hBD130. Taken together, these results showed that hBD130 is a promising antimicrobial agent to treat foodborne bacterial infections and inflammation.

Yan-bin Du,Lan Liao,Le-su Wang 한국정밀공학회 2017 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.18 No.3
Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) of remanufactured machine tools is one of the key issues for improving their quality and reliability. According to the characteristics of remanufactured machine tools and the basic principle of FMECA, the method of failure mode analysis for remanufactured machine tools in service is proposed, with the FMECA procedure being expounded in detail. In addition, failure criticality of each failure mode for remanufactured machine tools is analyzed by risk priority number (RPN) method. Finally, the method is demonstrated in a case study of remanufactured YX3120 gear hobbing machine. The results from the case study are discussed and conclusions are drawn.

This paper considers the optimal cell association and resource allocation for load balancing in a heterogeneous cellular network subject to user`s quality-of-service (QoS) constraints. We adopt the proportional fairness (PF) utility maximization formulation which also accommodates the QoS constraints in terms of minimum rate requirements. With equal resource allocation this joint optimization problem is either infeasible or requires relaxation that yields a solution which is difficult to implement. Nevertheless, we show that this joint optimization problem can be effectively solved without any priori assumption on resource allocation and yields a cell association scheme which enforces single BS association for each user. We re-formulated the joint optimization problem as a network-wide resource allocation problem with cardinality constraints. A reweighted heuristic l1-norm regularization method is used to obtain a sparse solution to the re-formulated problem. The cell association scheme is then derived from the sparsity pattern of the solution, which guarantees a single BS association for each user. Compared with the previously proposed method based on equal resource allocation, the proposed framework results in a feasible cell association scheme and yields a robust solution on resource allocation that satisfies the QoS constraints. Our simulations illustrate the impact of user`s minimum rate requirements on cell association and demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves load balancing and enforces single BS association for users.
