발열과 황달을 주소로 내원한 45세 남자 환자에서 균 배양검사와 간조직 검사 등으로, 매우 드물게 발생한다고 보고되어 있는 황달성 장티푸스 간염을 진단하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고한다. Typhoid fever is a febrile illness with a variety of systemic manifestations; however, icteric typhoid hepatitis, mimicking the clinical features of acute hepatitis, is very uncommon. A 45-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for evaluation of fever, dark-colored urine, and jaundice. On admission, the total bilirubin was 4.3 mg/dL, and the AST and ALT were 468 and 319 IU/L, respectively. Salmonella typhi was identified by blood culture. A liver biopsy revealed some mononuclear cell infiltrations without hepatocyte necrosis or typhoid nodules. CT scan findings showed splenomegaly and mesenteric lymphadenopathy. With the administration of ceftriaxone, he became afebrile and showed improvement in the jaundice, with normalization of AST and ALT. (Korean J Med 75:77-81, 2008)
N-Type Thermoelectric Film from Conductive Polymer-Copper ion Complexes

N-type mixed ionic-electronic conductive polymer composite film was demonstrated by Cl<sup>-</sup> transport and applied to a thermoelectric (TE) device. The p-type TE of the PEDOT:PSS films was drastically converted into the n-type TE films in the presence of CuCl<sub>2</sub> through metal binding with polymers, thus resulting in the formation of Cl<sup>-</sup> channels. These mixed ionic-electronic films recorded a surprisingly high negative Seebeck coefficient value of over -18.2 mV K<sup>-1</sup> and a power factor of 1.7 mW m<sup>-1</sup> K<sup>-2</sup> at 80% RH with 40 wt% of CuCl<sub>2</sub>. This n-type conductive polymer film was integrated with a p-type conductive polymer film as a flexible module-type TE harvester with 10 pairs of p-n legs on CNT electrodes. This TE harvester showed a thermovoltage of 1.55 V for a low temperature gradient of 4.5 K. This conductive polymer film might be a useful solution for environmentally benign and body-worn electronics.
