        Single-dose Toxicity of ShinYangHur Herbal Acupuncture

        Objectives: This study was carried out to analyze the single-dose toxicity of ShinYangHur (SYH) herbal acupuncture injected into the muscles of Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. Methods: The SYH herbal acupuncture was made in a clean room at the Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute (KPI, Korea-Good Manufacturing Practice, K-GMP). After the mixing process with sterile distilled water, the pH was controlled to between 7.0 and 7.5. Then, NaCl was added to make a 0.9% isotonic solution by using sterilized equipment. All experiments were conducted at Biotoxtech, an institution authorized to perform non clinical studies under the regulations of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). SD rats were chosen for the pilot study. Doses of SYH herbal acupuncture, 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 mL, were administered to the experimental groups, and a dose of normal saline solution, 1.0 mL, was administered to the control group. This study was conducted under the approval of the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee. Results: No deaths or abnormalities occurred in any of the four groups. No significant changes in weight, hematological parameters or clinical chemistry between the control group and the experimental groups were observed. To check for abnormalities in organs and tissues, we used microscopy was used to examine representative histological sections of each specified organ; the results showed no significant differences in any of the organs or tissues. Conclusion: The above outcomes suggest that treatment with SYH herbal acupuncture is relatively safe. Further studies on this subject are needed to yield more concrete evidence.

        A Study on Single Dose Toxicity of Mecasin Pharmacopuncture Injection in Muscle

        Objectives: This study was carried out to analyze the single dose toxicity of Mecasin(Gami-Jakyak Gamcho buja Decoction) pharmacopuncture in muscle of Sprague-Dawley rats. Methods: All experiments were performed at the Medvill, an institution acknowledged to conduct non-clinical studies, under the Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations. Sprague-Dawley rats were chosen in this pilot study. The reason Sprague-Dawley rats were chosen is that they have been widely used in safety test in the field of medicine, so the results can be easily compared with many other databases. Doses of Mecasin pharmacopuncture, 0, 500, 1,000, and 2,000mg/kg, were registered to the experimental groups, and a dose of normal saline solution, 10 ml/kg, was registered to the control group. Mecasin pharmacopuncture and normal saline were injected into the thigh of the rats by disposable syringes at intervals of six hours twice a day. This study was performed under the approval of the Institutional Animal Ethic Committee. Results: There is no death or abnormality in any of the four groups. No significant changes in weight, hematological parameters or clinical chemistry between the control group and the experimental groups were observed. To inspect abnormalities in organs and tissues, we used microscopy to examine representative histological sections of each specified organ; the results showed no significant differences in any of the organs or tissues. Conclusion: The above outcomes suggest that treatment with Mecasin pharmacopuncture is relatively safe. Further evaluations and studies on this subject are needed to prove more concrete evidence.

        세종시 도시스프롤 현상에 대한 연구

        Urban sprawl occurred at the outskirts of downtown Sejong City and caused lots of urban problems. So Sejong City designated its surrounding areas as areas subject to “growth management plan” in an attempt to prevent reckless development and induce planned development. While urban sprawl in Sejong City reflects the aspect of the expansion of development areas arising from urban growth, some argue that it results from the balloon effect caused by land use regulations. This study empirically analyzes causes of urban sprawl in Sejong City in terms of urban growth and the balloon effect. The main conclusions are as follows: First, it was found that urban sprawl to the outskirts of Sejong City occurred due to land use regulations in its downtown. Second, the external spread of urban areas due to urban growth in Sejong City showed three patterns. It was found that building types by use varied depending on population growth by age group in relevant areas and population growth in the parent city. The above results provide policy implications that land use regulations in the surrounding areas as well as the downtown should be reviewed simultaneously in order to cope with urban sprawl of Sejong City. 세종시 동지역으로 구성된 행정중심복합도시(행복도시)는 그 주변의 도시스프롤 현상으로 인해 다양한 도시문제가발생하고 있다. 이에 세종시는 전체 읍 ․ 면을 성장관리방안 수립지역으로 지정하여 난개발 방지 및 계획적 개발을유도하고 있다. 세종시의 도시스프롤은 도시성장에 의한 개발지역의 확산 측면도 있지만 토지이용규제에 의한 풍선효과 측면도 존재한다. 따라서 본 연구는 세종시의 도시스프롤 현상을 건축물 용도별로 확인하고, 그 원인을 실증적으로분석하였다. 첫째, 세종시는 행복도시의 토지이용규제에 의해 외곽 읍 ․ 면에서 도시스프롤 이 발생하는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 도시성장에 따른 도시지역의 외연적 확산은 세 가지의 양태로 나타났다. 해당지역의 연령대별 인구증가와모도시의 인구증가 특성에 따라 신축 건축물의 용도가 달라지는 것을 확인하였다. 이상의 결과는 세종시의 도시스프롤에 대한 대응을 위해서는 행복도시뿐만 아니라, 주변지역의 토지이용규제에 대한 재검토가 병행되어야 함을 보여준다.

      • 탄성밴드 타입 별 웨어러블 슈트 사용 시 척추기립근의 근력 보조 효과 연구

        반복적으로 무거운 중량물을 들어 나르는 작업근로자나 농업에 종사하여 허리를 많이 숙이고 작업해야 하는 다수의 노동자들의 경우 척추기립근에 반복적인 부하가 가해지면서 종종 요통이 발생한다. 요통의 경우 만성적으로 위험인자에 노출되면 만성 요통이란 질환까지 인정되는 장애의 큰 원인 중 하나로, 이를 예방하기 위한 다양한 연구들이 진행되어왔다. 본 연구는 요통뿐만 아니라 다양한 근골격계질환을 예방하고자 탄성밴드를 활용한 소프트 웨어러블 슈트를 개발하였고, 개발된 슈트의 경우 척추기립근과 대퇴이두근 위치에 탄성밴드를 통하여 허리를 숙이고 일어날 때(Stoop lift)와 쪼그려 앉았다가 일어날 때(Squat lift) 탄성력을 이용하여 근력 보조를 가능케 하도록 설계되었다. 본 연구는 서로 다른 탄성력을 가진 탄성밴드(A type, B type) 로 소프트형 웨어러블 슈트를 제작하여 허리 근력 보조 효과를 알아보기 위해 근전도를 사용해 착용 전, 착용 후 근 사용량을 비교하였으며, 피험자는 20 대의 신체 건강한 성인 남성 13 명을 선정하였다. 실험은 중량물을 들어올리는 2 가지 자세인 Squat lift 와 Stoop lift 로 중량물 5kg, 10kg, 15kg, 20kg를 3 회 반복적으로 들어올렸으며 그 때 근 사용량을 측정하였다. 그 결과 Squat lift 시 A type을 착용했을 때 착용 전 보다 17.11% 근 사용량이 감소하였으며, B type의 경우 16.23% 감소하였다. Stoop lift 시 A type을 착용했을 때 착용 전보다 6.84% 근 사용량이 감소하였고, B type의 경우 16.97% 감소됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

        A 4-week Repeated dose Oral Toxicity Study of Mecasin in Sprague-Dawley Rats to Determine the Appropriate Doses for a 13-week, Repeated Toxicity Test

        Objectives: In this study, we investigated the 4-weekrepeated-dose oral toxicity of gami-jakyak gamcho bujadecoction (Mecasin) to develop safe treatments. Methods: In order to investigate the 4-week oral toxicityof Mecasin, we administered Mecasin orally to rats. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into four groupsof five male and five female animals per group: group 1being the control group and groups 2, 3, and 4 being theexperimental groups. Doses of Mecasin of 500, 1,000,and 2,000 mg/kg of body weight were administered tothe experimental groups, and a dose of normal salinesolution of 10 mL/kg was administered to the controlgroup. We examined the survival rate, weight, clinicalsigns, and gross findings for four weeks. This study wasconducted under the approval of the Institutional AnimalEthics Committee. Results: No deaths occurred in any of the four groups. No significant changes in weights or food consumptionbetween the control group and the experimentalgroups were observed. Serum biochemistry revealedthat some groups showed significant decrease in inorganicphosphorus (IP) (P < 0.05). During necropsyon the rats, one abnormal macroscopic feature, a slightloss of fur, was observed in the mid dosage (1,000 mg/kg) male group. No abnormalities were observed inany other rats. In histopathological findings, the tubularbasophilia and cast of the kidney and extramedullaryhematopoiesis of the spleen were found. However,those changes were minimal and had occurred naturallyor sporadically. No other organ abnormalitieswere observed. Conclusion: During this 4-week, repeated, oral toxicitytest of Mecasin in SD rats, no toxicity changes dueto Mecasin were observed in any of the male or the femalerats in the high dosage group. Thus, we suggestthat the doses in a 13-week, repeated test should be 0,500, 1,000, and 2,000 mg/kg respectively.

        경도 지적장애 아동의 용언 활용

        Purpose : Children with mild intellectual disabilities have difficulties in syntax development. This study tested how well children with mild intellectual disabilities and typically developing children can use various conjugated forms of predicates when exposed to predicates. Methods : Ten children from each group, ages 6;0-7;11, participated in this study. The test predicates numbered 20, divided into two categories: 10 familiar and 10 unfamiliar; each category was composed of 5 predicates with rules and 5 predicates with no rules. Total test items numbered 80. The researcher provided a picture describing each predicate, while the researcher read out the base form of the predicate to the children. The children were asked to answer after listening to a question pertaining to predicate conjugating of the picture cards. A three-way mixed ANOVA of group (2)x rule type (2)x familiarity (2) was performed. Results : As a result of a three-way mixed ANOVA, significant main effects were found for group, rule type, and familiarity. In contrast, none were found for interaction effects. Children with mild intellectual disabilities showed lower performance in overall conjugating tasks compared to typically developing children. In addition, the children in both groups performed better in familiar rather than unfamiliar predicates and better in predicates with rules than predicates with no rules. They showed a similar pattern in predicate conjugating tasks. Conclusions : It is expected that children with mild intellectual disabilities will have difficulties in using different predicates. In addition, the importance of intervention was discussed. 목적: 경도지적장애아동은 구문 발달에 어려움을 겪는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는경도지적장애 아동의 용언 활용 특성을 알아보기 위하여 경도지적장애아동과 언어연령을 일치시킨 일반아동의 용언활용 능력을 비교하였다. 방법: 언어연령이 만 6~7세인 경도지적장애아동 10명과 언어연령을 일치시킨 일반 아동 10명이 본 연구에 참여하였다. 연구과제는 용언의 친숙도에 따라 친숙한용언 10개, 비친숙한 용언 10개로 총 20개였다. 친숙도에 따라 구분된 용언은 각각 용언 활용의규칙성에 따라 5개씩 규칙 활용 용언과 불규칙 활용 용언으로 구성하였으며 총 문항은 80문항이었다. 아동은 용언을 나타내는 그림카드를 보면서 용언 활용을 유도하는 질문을 듣고 4개의 목표 어미를포함한 문장을 산출하였다. 자료 분석은 집단(2)×친숙도(2)×규칙유형(2)으로 삼요인 혼합분산분석을실시하였다. 결과: 혼합분산분석 결과, 집단, 친숙도, 규칙유형의 주효과가 유의하였으며 집단, 친숙도, 규칙유형에 따른 상호작용효과는 모두 유의하지 않았다. 경도지적장애아동은 일반 아동보다 전반적으로낮은 수행을 보였으며, 친숙한 용언은 비친숙한 용언에 비해 수행점수가 높았으며, 규칙 용언은 불규칙용언에 비해 수행력이 높았다. 경도지적장애아동은 용언 활용 과제를 수행함에 있어서 일반 아동과유사한 패턴으로 수행함을 확인할 수 있었다. 경도지적장애아동에 대한 용언 활용 중재에 관하여논의하였다.
