The method of the study is for introducing and analyzing the seismic retrofitting manuals in the United States and Japan. Finally, some analyses are drawn to supply the valuable data for the related manuals in Korea in conclusion.

Purpose: This study was undertaken to evaluate if the reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) observed in a uniocular trial correlates with an IOP reduction observed in the fellow eye. Methods: The study was performed on forty patients with bilateral glaucoma or suspect glaucoma who underwent a uniocular trial of 0.005% latanoprost and subsequently received the same drug in the fellow eye after 1 week. Inter-eye IOP variations were less than 3 mm Hg over two measurements, and were followed minimally for 4 weeks. The uniocular IOP reduction (IOP before medication - IOP after medication) and the net IOP reduction (IOP change in the trial eye after medication - IOP change in the fellow eye) were calculated. The uniocular IOP reduction and net IOP reduction in the trial eye was compared with the results from the fellow eye. Results: The mean uniocular IOP reduction in the trial eye and the fellow eye were 3.6±2.42 mm Hg and 2.78±2.16 mm Hg, respectively (r=0.390, r2=0.152, P=0.013). The mean net IOP reduction in the trial eye and the opposing eye were 3.55±1.70 mm Hg and 3.15±1.83 mm Hg, respectively (r=0.782, r2=0.612, P=0.000). Conclusions: A uniocular drug trial in patients with similar IOPs between their eyes can adequately predict the IOP lowering effect of a medication.
갈릴레이와 세극등 빛간섭단층촬영기로 측정한 전안부계측치의 반복성 및 비교

Purpose: To evaluate the repeatability and comparability of anterior chamber depth (ACD) and central corneal thickness (CCT) measurements obtained by Galilei dual Scheimpflug analyzer (Ziemer, Port, Switzerland) and slit-lamp optical coherence tomography (SL-OCT; Heidelberg Engineering, Dossenheim, Germany). Methods: ACD and CCT were measured by Galilei and SL-OCT in 68 eyes of 68 healthy young subjects. Each measurement was performed 3 times by a single examiner, and the repeatability of 3 consecutive measurements was analyzed. ACD and CCT measurements were compared between the 2 devices. Results: Both Galilei and SL-OCT showed high repeatability (ICCs ≥ 0.994) for ACD and CCT measurements. The mean ACD and CCT measured by Galilei were greater than SL-OCT measurements by 0.11 ± 0.09 mm and 14.01 ± 7.38 μm, respectively. The 95% limit of agreement values for ACD and CCT measurements were 0.36 mm, 27.66 μm, respectively, and were highly correlated (correlation coefficients ≥ 0.89, p < 0.001). Conclusions: Although the repeatability of each device was high, ACD and CCT obtained by Galilei and SL-OCT were significantly different. These differences should be considered when interpreting ACD and CCT measurements obtained by the 2 devices. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2011;52(1):53-59
