Since the late 1980s, there have been radical changes in the managerial environment of Y University Medical Center(YUMC). Externally, the competition among hospitals has intensified due to the establishment of universal health insurance in 1989 and the entrance of large enterprises into the health care industry in the early 1990s. In addition, government regulation of medical institution is becoming stricter. Also, consumer groups have continued to demand the respect for patient rights and improvement of the quality of medical services. Internally, the financial condition of YUMC has worsened, not only because weak control and poor mediation in its large-scale structure have made its operation inefficient, but also because the rates of increase in the prices of goods and labor have grown faster than any increases in revenues. This study on materials management at YUMC presents a way for YUMC to reduce costs and increase its productivity, thereby overcoming its financial difficulties and dealing with external pressures. This study utilized the case studies of the materials purchasing and medical supply management in the United States and the comparative analysis of management to suggest short-term and long-term alternatives for innovation in YUMC. The goals of the short-term alternatives for innovation are to centralize the purchasing and supply departments and to simplify the decision-making processes. Through these attempts, it is estimated that YUMC's costs could be reduced by $600,000 per year. In the long-term, it is necessary to consider introducing a Supply Processing Distribution (SPD) system and setting up a centralized electronic system for supply and inventory management, although it is difficult to estimate the effect of cost-cutting because of the lack of analysis data. Thus, YUMC should thoroughly analyze initial investment costs and economical efficiency generated from long-term alternatives.
Open Source Software(OSS)를 활용한 전문 직업 교육 모델에 관한 연구

The recent trends of the job market and educational environment are changing rapidly. Vocation education institutions have not followed this trend, but have met the crises of college education in Korea. The quality of vocation education should be increased according to the job market trend. Open Source Soft ware(OSS) is a tool enhancing the professional skills of students required by enterprise. Developed countries such as the USA and Australia have a lot of experience using them in the educational area, but its usage is little in Korea. This study focuses to develop an educational model of using OSS for Professional-Vocational Education. The educational model suggested by the author can be used to raise the quality of higher education in Korea.
가중용접전류를 이용한 FCAW 필릿용접용 아크센싱 알고리즘 연구

It was attempted to improve seam-tracking performance by applying a new arc-sensing algorithm for FCAW(flux-cored arc welding) process in fillet joints. For this study the authors have introduced three different weight factors: $\circled1$ arc currents at the weaving end are more weighted, $\circled2$ arc currents are evenly weighted along the weaving, and $\circled3$ arc currents at the weaving center are more weighted. To evaluate the 3 factors the values of signal-to-noise(S/N) ratio has been measured. The values were obtained for various welding conditions with different gaps in horizontal and vertical fillet joints. The test results showed that the S/N ratio of the 1st case was highest which resulted in the best of seam tracking performance. In addition, the comparison between the seam tracking performance in horizontal fillet joints and that in vertical ones has been done, and the result showed that tracking performance in vertical joints was relatively better than that in horizontal joints.

The chart analysis which distinguishes the standardized pattern according to the change in stock price and which is used for trading signal is simple and easy to use, but there is a problem that the objectivity is deficient as the pattern is determined by the market analyst subjectivity. With this in mind, 6 trend reversal patterns were designed, and these pattern recognition fitnesses were measured by the template matching method. The average return ratio of trading a stock by the trend reversal pattern recognition fit value after holding 20 days with a 60 trading day window was higher than the average ratio of trading the stock after holding 20 days by random walk theory. There was also a difference in each enterprise yield ratio according to the patterns in this study. These produce the exception and counter evidence to the weak form of Efficient Market Hypothesis. The importance of this study lies in its practical value and its contribution to the rationale of the chart analysis is provided and a method of a quantitative measurement of chart pattern fitness is proposed for stock trading.
