보육교사의 놀이성과 정서지능, 음악교육에 대한 인식이 음악지도 적극성에 미치는 영향 = Influence of playfulness, emotional intelligence and music education awareness on teaching initiative for music in childcare teachers

The purpose of this study was to examine the structural influential relationship of the playfulness, emotional intelligence and music education awareness of childcare teachers to their teaching initiative for music. The subjects in this study were 265 selected teachers in daycare centers located in an urban community and a province. To gather data, a survey was conducted with questionnaires that covered playfulness, emotional intelligence awareness and teaching initiative for music, and the answer sheets from 240 respondents were analyzed except for the ones that were incomplete and/or outliers. As for data analysis, structural equation modelling was used to determine the relationship of the variables to address the research questions of the study. The major findings of the study were as follows: First, as a result of analyzing the validity of the measurement model of the structural model, the model turned out valid. Second, the playfulness and emotional intelligence of the childcare teachers exercised an influence on their music education awareness, and emotional intelligence exerted a positive influence on music education awareness. Music education awareness had a positive impact on teaching initiative for music. Second, concerning the mediating effects of the music education awareness of the childcare teachers on the influential relationship between their emotional intelligence and teaching initiative for music, music education awareness produced a partial mediating effect and exercised a positive influence. In conclusion, the playfulness, emotional intelligence and music education awareness of the childcare teachers were identified as important variables to affect their teaching initiative for music, and music awareness produced an indirect effect.
