• Mn-Based Cathode with Synergetic Layered-Tunnel Hybrid Structures and Their Enhanced Electrochemical Performance in Sodium Ion Batteries

        Wu, Zhen-Guo,Li, Jun-Tao,Zhong, Yan-Jun,Guo, Xiao-Dong,Huang, Ling,Zhong, Ben-He,Agyeman, Daniel-Adjei,Lim, Jin-Myoung,Kim, Du-ho,Cho, Maeng-hyo,Kang, Yong-Mook American Chemical Society 2017 ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES Vol.9 No.25

A synergistic approach for advanced cathode materials is proposed. Sodium manganese oxide with a layered-tunnel hybrid structure was designed, synthesized, and subsequently investigated. The layered-tunnel hybrid structure provides fast Na ion diffusivity and high structural stability thanks to the tunnel phase, enabling high rate capability and greatly improved cycling stability compared to that of the pure P2 layered phase while retaining the high specific capacity of the P2 layered phase. The hybrid Structure provided a decent discharge capacity of 133.4 mAh g(-1) even at 8 C, which exceeds the reported hest rate capability for Mn-based cathodes. It also displayed an impressive cycling stability, maintaining 83.3 mAh g(-1) after 700 cycles at 10 C. Theoretical calculation and the potentiostatic intermittent titration technique (PITT) demonstrated that this hybrid structure helps enhance Na ion diffusivity during charge and discharge, attaining, as a result, an unprecendented electrochemical performance.

        Du, Pei-Ling,Wu, Ku-Sheng,Fang, Jia-Ying,Zeng, Yang,Xu, Zhen-Xi,Tang, Wen-Rui,Xu, Xiao-Ling,Lin, Kun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.15

Background: To analyze cervical cancer mortality trends in China from 1991-2013 and forecast the mortality distribution in future five years (2014-2018), and provide clues for prevention and treatment. Materials and Methods: Mortality data for cervical cancer in China from 1991 to 2013 were used to describe the epidemiological characteristics and distribution, including the trend of the standardized mortality rate, urban-rural differences, and age variation. Trend-surface analysis was used to analyze the geographical distribution of mortality. Curve estimation, time series, gray modeling, and joinpoint regression were performed to predict and forecast mortality trends. Results: In recent years, the mortality rate of cervical cancer has increased, and there is also a steady increase in the incidence from 2003 to 2013 in China. Mortality rates in rural areas are higher than in urban areas. The mortality dramatically increases in the 40+ yr age group, reaching a peak in the >85 yr age group. In addition, geographical analysis showed that the cervical cancer mortality increased from the southwest to west-central and from the southeast to northeast of the country. Conclusions: The incidence rate and the mortality rate are increasing from 1991 to 2013, and the predictions show this will continue in the future. Thus, implementation of prevention and management programs for cervical cancer are necessary in China, especially for rural areas, young women in urban areas, and high risk regions (the west-central).

Bin Xu,Xiao-yu Wu,Jian-guo Lei,Feng Luo,Chen-lin Du,Shuang-chen Ruan,Zhen-long Wang 한국정밀공학회 2014 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

The 3D micro-mold which is fabricated by the femtosecond laser cutting and micro electric resistance slip welding is formed throughthe lamination of multilayer 2D microstructures. By using this technology, the 3D micro-mold with a high depth-width ratio can bemanufactured. In order to improve the laminated precision and joining strength of each layer of 2D microstructure, this researchapplied layer-by-layer micro electric resistance slip welding to weld each layer of 2D microstructure. Firstly, the proper technicalparameters were obtained through the experiments of layer-by-layer micro electric resistance slip welding. Secondly, through thelayer-by-layer micro electric resistance slip welding, multilayer 2D microstructures were weld together and a 3D micro-mold wasformed. Moreover, the anti-shear stress test of 3D micro-mold was done. In the layer-by-layer slip welding process, electrode couldproduce some losses and the losses could deposit on the surface of micro-mold. This research also studied the deposition effect ofthe electrode. Finally, based on the above studies, the micro square-hole array and the micro-gear cavity were fabricated by joiningmultilayer 2D microstructure.

        Fang, Jia-Ying,Wu, Ku-Sheng,Zeng, Yang,Tang, Wen-Rui,Du, Pei-Ling,Xu, Zhen-Xi,Xu, Xiao-Ling,Luo, Jia-Yi,Lin, Kun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.5

Purpose: To investigate the distribution of liver cancer mortality as well as its developing trend from 1991 to 2012, forecast the future five-year trend, and provide a basis for the comprehensive prevention and management. Materials and Methods: Mortality data for liver cancer in China from 1991 to 2012 were used to describe characteristics and distribution of liver cancer mortality. Trend surface analysis was used to study the geographical distribution of liver cancer mortality. Curve estimation, time series modeling, gray modeling (GM) and joinpoint regression were used to predict and forecast future trends. Results: The mortality rate of liver cancer has constantly increased in China since 1991. Rates in rural areas are higher than in urban areas, and in males are higher than in females. In addition, our data predicted that the trend will continue to increase in the next 5 years. The age-specific mortality of liver cancer increases with age and peaks in the group of 80-84 years old. Geographical analysis showed the liver mortality rate was higher in the southeast provinces, such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong, and southwest regions like Guangxi Province. Conclusions: The standardized mortality rate of liver cancer in China has consistently increased from 1991 to 2012, and the upward trend is predicted to continue in the future. Much better prevention and management of liver cancer is needed in high mortality areas (the southwestern and southeastern parts of China) and high mortality age groups (80- to 84-year-olds), especially in rural areas.

      • Antitumor Activity of Lentivirus-mediated Interleukin -12 Gene Modified Dendritic Cells in Human Lung Cancer in Vitro

Ali, Hassan Abdellah Ahmed,Di, Jun,Mei, Wu,Zhang, Yu-Cheng,Li, Yi,Du, Zhen-Wu,Zhang, Gui-Zhen Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.2

Objectives: Dendritic cell (DC)-based tumor immunotherapy needs an immunogenic tumor associated antigen (TAA) and an effective approach for its presentation to lymphocytes. In this study we explored whether transduction of DCs with lentiviruses (LVs) expressing the human interleukin-12 gene could stimulate antigen-specific cytotoxic T cells (CTLs) against human lung cancer cells in vitro. Methods: Peripheral blood monocyte-derived DCs were transduced with a lentiviral vector encoding human IL-12 gene (LV-12). The anticipated target of the human IL-12 gene was detected by RT-PCR. The concentration of IL-12 in the culture supernatant of DCs was measured by ELISA.Transduction efficiencies and CD83 phenotypes of DCs were assessed by flow cytometry. DCs were pulsed with tumor antigen of lung cancer cells (DC+Ag) and transduced with LV-12 (DC-LV-12+Ag). Stimulation of T lymphocyte proliferation by DCs and activation of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTL) stimulated by LV-12 transduced DCs pulsed with tumor antigen against A549 lung cancer cells were assessed with methyl thiazolyltetrazolium (MTT). Results: A recombinant lentivirus expressing the IL-12 gene was successfully constructed. DC transduced with LV-12 produced higher levels of IL-12 and expressed higher levels of CD83 than non-transduced. The DC modified by interleukin -12 gene and pulsed with tumor antigen demonstrated good stimulation of lymphocyte proliferation, induction of antigen-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes and antitumor effects. Conclusions: Dendritic cells transduced with a lentivirus-mediated interleukin-12 gene have an enhanced ability to kill lung cancer cells through promoting T lymphocyte proliferation and cytotoxicity.

        Xiao Ning Liu,양철중,김지의,Zhen Wu Du,Ming Ren,Wei Zhang,Hong Yu Zhao,김경옥,노규철 대한정형외과학회 2018 Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery Vol.10 No.1

Background: To evaluate the influence of bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) on tendon-to-bone healing in a rabbit rotator cuff model and to characterize the composition of growth factors in BMAC. Methods: In this in vivo study, 40 rabbits were allocated into five groups: control (C), repair + saline (RS), repair + platelet-rich plasma (PRP; RP), repair + BMAC (RB) and repair + PRP + BMAC (RPB). A tear model was created by supraspinatus tendon transection at the footprint. Six weeks after transection, the torn tendon was repaired along with BMAC or PRP administration. Six weeks after repair, shoulder samples were harvested for biomechanical and histological testing. Ten rabbits were used for processing PRP and BMAC, followed by analysis of blood cell composition and the levels of growth factors in vitro . Results: The ultimate load-to-failure was significantly higher in RPB group compared to RS group (p = 0.025). BMAC-treated groups showed higher values of biomechanical properties than RS group. The histology of BMAC-treated samples showed better collagen fiber continuity and orientation than RS group. BMAC contained significantly higher levels of the several growth factors than PRP. Conclusions: Locally administered BMAC enhanced tendon-to-bone healing and has potential for clinical applications.

      • Colorectal Cancer Mortality Characteristics and Predictions in China, 1991-2011

        Fang, Jia-Ying,Dong, Hong-Li,Sang, Xue-Jin,Xie, Bin,Wu, Ku-Sheng,Du, Pei-Ling,Xu, Zhen-Xi,Jia, Xiao-Yue,Lin, Kun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.17

Background: To identify the epidemiological characteristics of colorectal cancer mortality in China during the period of 1991-2011, and forecast the future five-year trend. Materials and Methods: Mortality data for colorectal cancer in China from 1991 to 2011 was used to describe epidemiological characteristics in terms of age group, gender, and rural/urban residence. Trend surface analysis was performed to analyze the geographical distribution of colorectal cancer. Four models including curve estimation, time series modeling, gray modeling and joinpoint regression were applied to forecast the trends for the future five years. Results: Since 1991 the colorectal cancer mortality rate increased yearly, and our results showed that the trend would continue to increase in the ensuing 5 years. The mortality rate in males was higher than that of females and the rate in urban areas was higher than in rural areas. The mortality rate was relatively low for individuals less than 60 years of age, but increased dramatically afterwards. People living in the northeastern China provinces or in eastern China had a higher mortality rate for colorectal cancer than those living in middle or western China provinces. Conclusions: The steadily increasing mortality of colorectal cancer in China will become a substantial public health burden in the foreseeable future. For this increasing trend to be controlled, further efforts should concentrate on educating the general public to increase prevention and early detection by screening. More effective prevention and management strategies are needed in higher mortality areas (Eastern parts of China) and high-risk populations (60+ years old).
