METHOD OF HMI OPTIMIZATION DESIGN BASED ON FIXATION TRANSITION CHARACTERISTICS AND VISUAL ATTENTION TRAJECTORY: A DRIVER SIMULATOR STUDY

        Xiaohua Zhao,Dunli Hu,Xinyu Yang,Xuewei Li,Xiaofan Feng,Jiaxia Yang 한국자동차공학회 2022 International journal of automotive technology Vol.23 No.4

To further enhance the role of connected vehicles with the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) in helping drivers in foggy weather, it is meaningful to optimize the HMI based on the driver’s needs. In order to explore the method of HMI optimization, this paper builds a driving simulation experimental test platform of freeway connected vehicle system, designing two experimental scenarios according to the technical conditions (without HMI or with HMI). After that, the paper uses Markov chain to explore the drivers’ fixation transition to identify the driver’s needs in different sections at different conditions. Besides, combined with the visual trajectory results, the paper provides suggestions for optimizing HMI. The results show the review rate of drivers in each section for the straight upper front area is very high. The highest value occurs in the heavy fog zone, suggesting that HMI can provide more road information. HMI should offer a prompt to the driver before entering the warning zone, and remind the driver of changes in the speed limit before entering the fog area. The prompt module of HMI should shorten the horizontal length. In conclusion, this paper aims to propose a general diagnosis method by diagnosing the self-designed HMI.

Distribution of Cadherin in the Parahippocampal Area of Developing Domestic Chicken Embryos

        He Zhou,XiaoFan Wang,Juntang Lin,Ze Zhao,Cheng Chang 한국뇌신경과학회 2020 Experimental Neurobiology Vol.29 No.1

Hippocampal formation is important in spatial learning and memory. Members of the cadherin superfamily are observed in the neural system with diverse spatial and temporal expression patterns and are involved in many biological processes. To date, the avian hippocampal formation is not well understood. In this study, we examined the expression of cadherin mRNA in chicken and mouse brains to investigate the morphological and cytoarchitectural bases of hippocampal formation. Profiles of the spatiotemporal expression of cadherin mRNAs in the developing chicken embryonic parahippocampal area (APH) are provided, and layer-specific expression and spatiotemporal expression were observed in different subdivisions of the APH. That fact that some cadherins (Cdh2, Cdh8, Pcdh8 and Pcdh10) showed conserved regional expression both in the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex of mice and the hippocampal formation of chickens partially confirmed the structural homology proposed by previous scientists. This study indicates that some cadherins can be used as special markers of the avian hippocampal formation.

Lead tolerance and accumulation characteristics of three Hydrangea cultivars representing potential lead-contaminated phytoremediation plants

        Wenjie Ma,Bing Zhao,Xiaofan Lv,Xuan Feng 한국원예학회 2022 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.63 No.1

Heavy metal contamination of soil is a serious environmental problem worldwide. With improving ecological awareness, phytoremediation has attracted increasing attention as an economic, effi cient, and environmentally friendly method to addressheavy metal pollution. Hydrangea plants are not only colorful and aesthetically pleasing, but they also grow vigorously. Inthis study, we examined the responses of three Hydrangea cultivars to diff erent levels of lead (Pb) stress in terms of theirgrowth responses, biochemical changes, and heavy metal accumulation. We found that (1) no visual heavy metal toxicitysymptoms were observed in the three Hydrangea cultivars under any Pb treatment. (2) At low concentrations of Pb (100–200 mg kg −1 ), the root length of the three cultivars increased signifi cantly compared with that of the control; no signifi cantchange was found in shoot biomass in the three cultivars under any Pb treatment. (3) The biochemical changes in responseto Pb stress diff ered between the cultivars. (4) Under all Pb treatments, the Pb concentrations in the roots were signifi cantlyhigher than those in the shoots of the cultivars, with translocation factor (TF) values < 1. Our results suggest that all threeHydrangea cultivars tested have the potential to tolerate high Pb levels in soil and showed Pb phytostabilization tendencieswith features essential for phytoextraction.

Numerical calculation and optimization designs in engine cooling water pump

        Li Wei,Wang Chuan,Shi Weidong,Zhao Xiaofan,Yang Yongfei,Pei Bing 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.5

The cavitation damage in the Engine cooling water pump (ECWP) is the key factor that shortens the lifespan of automobile cooling systems, and causes vibration and noise. To improve cavitation performance and external characteristics of ECWP, three optimized models were designed on the basis of WP7 diesel ECWP. The whole flow fields in three models and the prototype pump were numerically simulated, employing the time averaged Navier-Stokes equation, the standard k-ε turbulent model and Zwart-Gerber-Belamri multiphase flow model by ANSYS-CFX software. Pressure distribution, turbulent kinetic energy distribution, bubble volume fraction distribution, external characteristics and cavitation performance of the prototype pump and optimized models were compared and analyzed. The results show that the external characteristics and cavitation performance of the optimized models are significantly better than that in the prototype pump. Through decreasing the inlet blade angle and wrap angle, extending the blade to inlets and extending a certain inclination in the blade, shock loss in blade inlet was reduced and so, the performance of pump will be improved. The flow condition at blade inlet will also be improved greatly, which in turn improves cavitation performance. When reducing the quantity of blades, the excretion coefficient will drop, flow area of blade inlet becomes bigger, but head has a little drop. And the pump optimized by reducing the quantity of blades has the optimal cavitation performance among three optimized models. With the decrease of impeller diameter, the absolute pressure in the critical cavitation point becomes bigger, the inlet bubble volume fraction at the same absolute pressure increases while cavitation performance gets worse. The obtained numerical results were compared with the experimental ones, and the outcome showed the same tendency between the two along with acceptable error.

Effects of dietary fibers, micronutrients, and phytonutrients on gut microbiome: a review

        Beane Kaleigh E.,Redding Mersady C.,Wang Xiaofan,Pan Jeong Hoon,Le Brandy,Cicalo Cara,Jeon Suwon,Kim Young Jun,Lee Jin Hyup,Shin Eui-Cheol,Li Ying,Zhao Jiangchao,Kim Jae Kyeom 한국응용생명화학회 2021 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.64 No.2

The human gastrointestinal tract harbors a magnitude of bacteria, which are collectively known as the gut microbiome. Research has demonstrated that the gut microbiome significantly impacts the health of its host and alters the host’s risk for various chronic diseases. Many factors, such as diet, could potentially be manipulated to alter the host gut microbiome and induce subsequent preventative and/or therapeutic effects. It has been established that diet partakes in the regulation and maintenance of the gut microbiome; however, specific crosstalk between the microbiome, gut, and host has not been clearly elucidated in relation to diet. In this review of the scientific literature, we outline current knowledge of the differential effects of major plant-derived dietary constituents (fiber, phytochemicals, vitamins, and minerals) on the diversity and composition of the gut microbiome.
