      • Establishment and Clinical Application of an Electronic Database for Breast Cancer in China

        Purpose: To establish a database for breast cancer patients to save and manage clinical data and to preliminarily investigate its clinical application. Materials and Methods: Information on breast cancer patients hospitalized in our department from 2008.01 to 2013.01 were input into our breast cancer management system. SPSS 16.0 software was used as a convenient reference to evaluate the accuracy of the newly built database. Results: A database of 2403 breast cancer patients was successfully established. Information in the database clearly displayed capabilities of storage, addition, retrieval, statistical analysis and other functions. As the continuously updated database showed, the distribution of age, sex, nationality, allergy history, pausimenia and marriage of patients was identical to that achieved by SPSS analysis, indicating reliable and accurate data analysis. Conclusions: The described database is easy and convenient to operate and manage, and should prove suitable for application in clinical research and treatment.

        Transient simulation and experiment validation on the opening and closing process of a ball valve

        The ball valve is an important device in the pipeline transportation system of nuclear power plants. Itsoperational stability and safety directly affect the normal working of nuclear power plants. In this study,the transient numerical simulation of the opening and closing process of a ball valve was conducted onthe basis of the flow interruption capability experiment of the ball valve by using the moving meshmethod and inlet and outlet variable boundary conditions. The flow rate and pressure difference withtime of the opening and closing process of the ball valve were studied. The internal flow characteristics ofthe ball valve under different relative openings were analyzed in conjunction with the typical back-stepflow structure. Results show that the transient numerical results agree well with the experimental results. The internal flow characteristics of the ball valve are similar at the same opening during openingand closing process. At small opening, the spool and outlet channels easily form a back-step flowstructure. The disappearance and generation of backflow vortices during opening and closing occur at85% opening and 75% opening, respectively. With the decrease in opening degree, the difference invortex core area in the flow channel of the ball valve spool in the opening and closing process graduallyappears. The research results provide some reference value for the design and optimization of ball valves.

        Impact of electrolyte additives (alkali metal salts) on the capacitive behavior of NiO-based capacitors

        To improve the specific capacitance and energy density of electrochemical capacitor, nanostructured NiO was prepared by high temperature solid-state method as electrode material. The crystal structure and morphology of as-parepared NiO samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurement was applied to investigate the specific capacitance of the NiO electrode. Furthermore,a novel mixed electrolyte consisting of NaOH, KOH, LiOH and Li_2CO_3 was prepared for the NiO capacitor,and the component and concentration of the four different electrolytes was examined by orthogonal test. The results showed that the NiO sample has cubic structure with nano-size particles, and the optimal composition of the electrolyte was: NaOH 2 mol L^(−1), KOH 3 mol L^(−1), LiOH 0.05 mol L^(−1), and Li_2CO_3 0.05 mol L^−1. At a scan rate of 10 mV s^(−1), the fabricated capacitor exhibits excellent electrochemical capacitive performance, while the specific capacitance and the energy density were 239 F g^(−1) and 85 Wh kg^(−1), which was higher than one-component electrolyte.

        Synthesis of (5R,8R)-2-(3,8-Dimethyl-2-oxo-1,2,4,5,6,7,8,8α-octahydroazulen-5-yl) Acrylic Acid (Rupestonic Acid) Amide Derivatives and in vitro Inhibitive Activities against Influenza A<sub>3</sub>,B and Herpes Simplex Type 1 and 2 Virus

        19 Aromatic ring and L-amino acid ester contained rupestonic acid amide derivatives 2a~2l, 3a~3g were synthesized and preliminarily evaluated in vitro against influenza virus $A_3$,B and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), 2(HSV-2) by the national center for drug screening of China. The rusults showed that 2i possessed the highest inhibition against both influenza virus $A_3\;(TC_{50}\;=\;120.6\;{\mu}mol/L,\;IC_{50}=\;19.2\;{\mu}$mol/L, SI = 6.3) and B (T$C_{50}\;=\;120.6\;{\mu}mol/L,\;IC_{50}=\;29.9\;{\mu}$mol/L, SI = 4.0); 2g was more active against influenza $A_3$ virus at very low cytotoxicity ($TC_{50}\;>\;2092.1\;{\mu}mol/L,\;IC_{50}=\;143.7\;{\mu}mol/L,$ SI > 14.6) than the parent compound; Compounds 2b, 2c, 2f showed higher activities both against HSV-1 and HSV-2 than that of the parent compound, and 2f was the most potent inhibitor of HSV-1 ($TC_{50}\;=\;200.0\;{\mu}mol/L,\;IC_{50}\;=\;11.3\;{\mu}mol$/L, SI = 17.7 ) and HSV-2 ($TC_{50}\;=\;200.0\;{\mu}mol/L,\;IC_{50}\;=\;20.7\;{\mu}mol$/L , SI = 9.7).

        Inductances Evaluation of a Squirrel-Cage Induction Motor with Curved Dynamic Eccentricity

        Eccentricity faults more or less exist in all rotating electrical machines. This paper establishes a more precise model of dynamic eccentricity (DE) in electrical machines named as curved dynamic eccentricity. It is a kind of axial unequal eccentricity which has not been investigated in detail so far but occurs in large electrical machines. The inductances of a large three-phase squirrel-cage induction machine (SCIM) under different levels of curved DE conditions are evaluated using winding function approach (WFA). These inductances include the stator self and mutual inductances, rotor self and mutual inductances, and mutual inductances between stator phases and rotor loops. A comparison is made between the calculation results under curved DE and the corresponding pure DE conditions. It indicates that the eccentricity condition will be more terrible than the monitored eccentricity based on the conventional pure DE model.

        The characteristics of genistin-induced inhibitory effects on intestinal motility

        Genistin belongs to isoflavones. Based on thefacts that genistin exerts inhibitory effects on the contractilityof vascular smooth muscle,the present study wasdesigned to characterize the effects of genistin on intestinalcontractility and evaluate its potential clinical implication. Ex vivo [isolated jejunal segment (IJS) of rat], in vitro, andin vivo assays were used in the study. The results indicatedthat genistin (5–80 lmol/L) inhibited the contraction of IJSin a dose-dependent manner and inhibited the increasedcontractilityof IJS induced by acetylcholine (ACh), histamine,high Ca2?, and erythromycin, respectively. Theinhibitory effects of genistin were correlated with thestimulation of alpha adrenergic and beta adrenergicreceptors since these inhibitory effects were significantlyblocked in the presence of phentolamine and propranololrespectively. No further inhibitory effects of genistin wereobserved in the presence of verapamil or in Ca2?-freecondition, indicating genistin-induced inhibitory effects areCa2?-dependent. Genistin decreased myosin light chainkinase (MLCK) protein contents and MLCK mRNAexpression in IJS, and inhibited both phosphorylation andMg2?-ATPase activity of purified myosin, implicating thatthe decrease of MLCK contents and inhibition of MLCKactivity are involved in the genistin-induced inhibitoryeffects. The study suggests the potential clinical implicationsof genistin in relieving intestinal hypercontractility.

        Frequency-Code Domain Contention in Multi-antenna Multicarrier Wireless Networks

        Coordination among users is an inevitable but time-consuming operation in wireless networks. It severely limit the system performance when the data rate is high. We present FC-MAC, a novel MAC protocol that can complete a contention within one contention slot over a joint frequency-code domain. When a node takes part in the contention, it generates randomly a contention vector (CV), which is a binary sequence of length equal to the number of available orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) subcarriers. In FC-MAC, different user is assigned with a distinct signature (i.e., PN sequence). A node sends the signature at specific subcarriers and uses the sequence of the ON/OFF states of all subcarriers to indicate the chosen CV. Meanwhile, every node uses the redundant antennas to detect the CVs of other nodes. The node with the minimum CV becomes the winner. The experimental results show that, the collision probability of FC-MAC is as low as 0.05% when the network has 100 nodes. In comparison with IEEE 802.11, contention time is reduced by 50-80% and the throughput gain is up to 200%.

        The Nedd8-activating enzyme inhibitor MLN4924 suppresses colon cancer cell growth via triggering autophagy

        Neddylation is a post-translational protein modification process. MLN4924 is a newly discovered pharmaceutical neddylation inhibitor that suppresses cancer growth with several cancer types. In our study, we first investigated the effect of MLN4924 on colon cancer cells (HCT116 and HT29). MLN4924 significantly inhibited the neddylation of cullin-1 and colon cancer cell growth in a time and dose-dependent manner. MLN4924 induced G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in HCT116 and HT29 cells. Moreover, MLN4924 also triggered autophagy in HCT116 and HT29 cells via suppressing the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway. Inhibiting autophagy by autophagy inhibitor 3-MA or ATG5 knockdown reversed the function of MLN4924 in suppressing colon cancer cell growth and cell death. Interestingly, MLN4924 suppresses colon cell growth in a xenograft model. Together, our finding revealed that blocking neddylation is an attractive colon cancer therapy strategy, and autophagy might act as a novel anti-cancer mechanism for the treatment of colon cancer by MLN4924.

      • The Control of Collaboration for Comprehensive Transportation Corridor

        Regional comprehensive corridor takes on the characteristics of heavy transport demand and supply, and consists of many travel modes; meanwhile, competition is severe among different trip modes. In order to avoid vicious competition so that transportation market is disturbed, multi-objective and nonlinear programming model is built up, which is based on the maximization of unity of traveler. The objective of model is minimization of distance between practical capacity coefficient and ideal capacity coefficient. Multi-objective is transferred into single objective by TOPSIS method before model is solved. The transformed objective function is multi-peak function, so niche GA is introduced into solving the problem to obtain all of optimal solution. K-means clustering is adapted to classify the set of optimal solution. The centre of gravity of each cluster is taken as value of decision variables. At last a numeric example demonstrates the validity and feasibility.
