        Effect of Self-Control and Rational Choice on Online Digital Piracy

        본 연구는 온라인 불법복제의 현황을 살펴보고 통합적 합리적 선택 모델을 활용하여 이 문제에 대한 이해를 증진하고자 한다. 통합적 합리적 선택 모델은 일반범죄이론을 기본적인 틀로 하여 일상활동이론, 억제이론 요인들과 함께 구성하였다. 첫째, 이변량 상관관계 분석에서 통계적으로 온라인 불법복제와 유의한 관계를 가진 변수들을 다중회귀분석으로 분석하였다. 다중회귀분석 결과 통계적으로 유의한 예측변수들은 자기통제력, 인지된 위험성, 인터넷 사용을 한 시간, 음란물, 방송과 영화이었다. 통계적으로 유의하지 못한 컴퓨터 게임 사용은 조절효과 분석에서 제외하였다. 둘째, 곱 항(product term)들을 조절효과 변수들로 활용하여 다중회귀분석으로 억제이론 변수와 일상활동이론 변수들이 자기통제력에 대해 조절효과를 가지는지 분석하였다. 그 결과 억제이론 변수는 조절효과를 가진 반면 일상활동이론의 기회 변수들은 조절효과를 가지지 못해 이론적 모델은 부분적으로 검증되었다. 이 결과를 기반으로 이론적 함의를 논의하고 대응전략을 제안하였다. This study first examines current trends of online digital piracy, which suggests the threat is persistent and TV and movies industries are especially vulnerable. To improve understanding of this threat, an integrated rational choice model is used, where the General Theory of Crime serves as the common framework. Routine Activity Theory and Deterrence Theory are used as component factors of this common framework to constitute the integrated rational choice model to explain online digital piracy. First, significant correlates of online digital piracy from bivariate correlation analysis were used in multiple regression analysis. Significant predictors were self-control, perceived risk, time spent online, pornography and TV and movies. A none significant predictor, computer games, was trimmed for the next step of the analysis. Second, another multiple regression analysis was conducted with product terms to determine whether opportunity variables from Routine Activity Theory and a deterrence variable from Deterrence Theory moderate the effect of self-control on online digital piracy. Results partially confirmed the model where the deterrence variable moderated the effect of self-control whereas opportunity variables did not. Theoretical implications and policy recommendations are made based on the results.

      • Antioxidant value and Antiproliferative Efficacy of Mitragynine and a Silane Reduced Analogue

        Background: To investigate the antioxidant value and anticancer functions of mitragynine (MTG) and its silane-reduced analogues (SRM) in vitro. Materials and Methods: MTG and SRM was analyzed for their reducing power ability, ABTS radical inhibition and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazylfree radicals scavenging activities. Furthermore, the antiproliferation efficacy was evaluated using MTT assay on K 562 and HCT116 cancer cell lines versus NIH/3T3 and CCD18-Co normal cell lines respectively. Results: SRM and MTG demonstrate moderate antioxidant value with ABTS assay (Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC): $2.25{\pm}0.02$ mmol trolox / mmol and $1.96{\pm}0.04$ mmol trolox / mmol respectively) and DPPH ($IC_{50}=3.75{\pm}0.04mg/mL$ and $IC_{50}=2.28{\pm}0.02mg/mL$ respectively). Both MTG and SRM demonstrate equal potency ($IC_{50}=25.20{\pm}1.53$ and $IC_{50}=22.19{\pm}1.06$ respectively) towards K 562 cell lines, comparable to control, betulinic acid (BA) ($IC_{50}24.40{\pm}1.26$). Both compounds showed concentration-dependent cytototoxicity effects and exert profound antiproliferative efficacy at concentration > $100{\mu}M$ towards HCT 116 and K 562 cancer cell lines, comparable to those of BA and 5-FU (5-Fluorouracil). Furthermore, both MTG and SRM exhibit high selectivity towards HCT 116 cell lines with selective indexes of 3.14 and 2.93 respectively compared to 5-FU (SI=0.60). Conclusions: These findings revealed that the medicinal and nutitional values of mitragynine obtained from ketum leaves that growth in tropical forest of Southeast Asia and its analogues does not limited to analgesic properties but could be promising antioxidant and anticancer or chemopreventive compounds.

      • Gaining Flexibility and Performance of Computing Using Application-Specific Instructions and Reconfigurable Architecture

        As data transfer rates become higher, general processor is not competent for works with high computing intensity in wireless communication area. The other hand, existing baseband processors lack adaptive ability to support new applications and newer versions of existing application. Thus the paper puts forward a novel architecture of reconfigurable stream processor along with application-specific instruction set for software radio. The main goal of the processor is to point out an effective way to designing hardware of software radio with high computational performance and adaptive ability. We achieve this by analyzing multi-stream modalities of advanced wireless communication standards, such as 3G and WLAN. Simulation results show that the processor with powerful calculation capability can adapt to applications of wireless communication area easily.

      • 萬頃江 流域 底質土의 重金屬 汚染에 관한 調査硏究

        The purpose of this study is control and prevention of Mangyoung river pollution by analysis of heavy metals contained in the river-bottom mud which is latent pollution factor of river. The samples were collected at the 19 sampling sites in 1986. The heavy metal contents were measured by means of atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The kinds of heavy metal were Lead, Copper Nickel, Total-Chromium, Zinc, Manganese, Arsenic, Mercury, Cadmium. The results were as follows ; 1. The heavy metal concentrations in analysized elements were the highest value in S7 and S11. 2. The distribution of heavy metals concentration were as follows ; Pb >Cu >Ni >T-Cr >As >Cd >Hg 3. The concentration of heavy metals in the river-bottom mud were influenced by the precipitation. 4. The correlationship between precipitation and heavy metal concentration was as follows ; Correlation coefficients were r=0.796 in Cu, r=0.682 in Pb, r=0.709 in Cd, r=0.659 in T-Cr, r=0.707 in Ni, r=0.629 in As, r=0.490 in As, r=0.490 in Hg, r=0.008 in S5, r=0.811 in S6, r=0.652 in S7, r=0.656 in S10, r=0.707 in S11, r=0.648 in S13, r=0.671 in S14, r=0.508 in S16.

        Association among Lifestyle and Risk Factors with SARS-CoV-2 Infection

        Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a major health burden worldwide, with over 600 million confirmed cases and 6 million deaths by 15 December 2022. Although the acute phase of COVID-19 management has been established, the long-term clinical course and complications due to the relatively short outbreak is yet to be assessed. The current COVID-19 pandemic is causing significant morbidity and mortality around the world. Interestingly, epidemiological studies have shown that fatality rates vary considerably across different countries, and men and elderly patients are at higher risk of developing severe diseases. There is increasing evidence that COVID-19 infection causes neurological deficits in a substantial proportion to patients suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome. Furthermore, lack of physical activity and smoking are associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) susceptibility. We should therefore explore why lack of physical activity, smoking, etc causing a population more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection, and mechanism involved. Thus, in this review article, we summarize epidemiological evidence related to risk factors and lifestyle that affect COVID-19 severity and the mechanism involved. These risk factors or lifestyle interventions include smoking, cardiovascular health, obesity, exercise, environmental pollution, psychosocial social stress, and diet.

        본 연구의 목적은 중학생의 유전 알고리즘 이해를 돕기 위한 방법으로 유전 알고리즘을 주제로 한 비버챌린지 유형 문항을 제작하는 것이다. 유전 알고리즘을 탐구한 내용을 바탕으로 비버 챌린지 유형의 1개 문항을 제작하였으며, 사전 지식 없이도 문제를 이해할 수 있다는 비버챌린지 문항의 특징을 반영하기 위해 비버챌린지 문항을 해결해 본 경험이 있는 고등학생 42명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하고, 설문 결과를 바탕으로 문항을 수정하여 완성도를 높이고자 하였다. 본 연구가 유전 알고리즘의 이해를 돕는 비버챌린지 활용 융합 교육 연구에 도움이 되길 바란다.
