      • Deriving Factors and Solutions Affecting Resident Acceptance in Land Transport of Radioactive Waste

        A large amount of radioactive wastes are generated during the decommissioning of the nuclear power plant. The need for radioactive waste management is emerging as the permanent suspension of domestic nuclear power plants Gori Unit 1 and Wolseong Unit 1 has been decided. According to the analysis of the number of land transportation of Gori Unit 1, when the dismantling period is expected to be five years, the number of land transportation is 459. Accordingly, measures are needed to improve the acceptability of residents on land transportation routes. Currently, there is little preparation for the acceptance of residents by transporting radioactive waste in Korea. This study analyzed the literature related to radioactive waste and nuclear power generation to derive factors that affect the acceptance of residents on the transport route of radioactive waste. Factors Affecting Resident Acceptability • Mistrust of the measured dose levels themselves • fear of radiation • Lack of training in radiation, nuclear power • Insufficient information for easy identification of dose and concentration • economic compensation In order to improve the acceptability of residents when transporting radioactive waste on land, it is necessary to scientifically prove the safety of the low and intermediate level radioactive waste transport path, and policy improvement considering the acceptability of residents is needed. In subsequent studies, it is necessary to specifically derive solutions to the above factors. This study is significant in that it derived factors that could affect low and intermediate level radioactive waste transportation, considering that no countermeasures have been prepared to improve the acceptance of residents by transporting low and intermediate level radioactive waste in Korea.

      • Conflicts Over the Clearance Waste Recycling From the Decommissioning of Nuclear Power Plants

        In this study, a manual that can be applied to conflict management of clearance waste recycling by stakeholders was researched to recycle clearance waste that is most frequently generated when decommissioning nuclear power plants. In order to develop a manual that can be applied to conflict management, the content of the conflict should be derived first. In order to derive conflict, it is necessary to organize major issues in recycling clearance waste in consideration of domestic nuclear energy and social environment. In order to organize major issues in consideration of the domestic environment, a literature survey and a domestic current situation investigation were conducted. At this time, the subject of the major issue was selected based on the Level 1 influencing factors of the previous study. As a result of the investigation, it was confirmed that there were many major issues due to lack of reliability/understanding in nuclear energy/radiation. Through this Conflicts caused by recycling clearance waste were derived based on the organized issues. As a result of deriving conflicts, eight conflicts were derived below. 1) Reduced business availability due to lack of understanding/reliability 2) Lack of reliability in the selection and technology of nuclide analysis technology 3) Additional time and equipment required due to establishment of clearance waste regulatory requirements 4) Low economic benefits due to reduction in the effect of substituting raw materials 5) Political interference due to worsening public opinion 6) Rejection of final products due to recycling due to distrust of radiation 7) Public acceptance along the transport route from the source to the recycling plant 8) Business promotion deteriorated due to changes in energy policy As a result of the derived conflict analysis, the most conflicts related to lack of reliability/understanding in nuclear energy/radiation were derived. Accordingly, in future research, it is necessary to prepare a specific plan to enhance the understanding of stakeholders about self-disposal waste recycling. Considering that research that can solve the conflicts that will be faced when the domestic/foreign clearance waste recycling industry is activated is not activated, this study is meaningful in that it derived the conflicts that will be faced when recycling clearance waste. Also, it is expected that the conflicts derived from this study will be used meaningfully in the establishment of the clearance waste recycling management manual.

        교육 분야에서는 각 학생의 특성과 요구에 부응하는 개인화 교육의 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 인공지능 기반의 튜터링 시스템, 특히 대화 기반의 튜터링이 주목받고 있다. 본 연구는 GPT-3.5-turbo 를 사용하여 데이터를 생성하는 과정에서 프롬프트 설계의 중요성과 인간의 감수 과정의 필요성을 확인했다. 또한, 자동 평가 방법을 제안하여 데이터의 품질과 유용성을 평가하였다.

      • Association Between Alterations in the Serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Status During Follow-Up and Breast Cancer Patient Prognosis

        Background: Serum vitamin D status can affect the prognosis of breast cancer patients. Our aim was to determine the association between alterations in the 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] status during follow-up and the prognosis of breast cancer patients. Additionally, we evaluated the association between the 25(OH)D status at the time of diagnosis and the prognosis using a detailed age and stage categorization. Materials and Methods: Four hundred and sixty-nine Korean breast cancer patients were included. We collected patient clinicopathological data, including their serum 25(OH)D concentration at diagnosis and at the annual follow-up until 4 years after diagnosis. The patients were divided according to their 25(OH)D status at diagnosis into a deficient (<20 ng/ml) and a non-deficient (${\geq}20ng/ml$) group. At follow-up, patients were categorized into the four following groups according to 25(OH)D status alterations: persistently deficient, improved, deteriorated and persistently non-deficient. Results: At diagnosis, 118 patients were classified into the deficient group and 351 into the non-deficient group. After a median follow-up period of $85.8{\pm}31.0$ months, the patients with advanced-stage disease or an older age in the non-deficient group showed a significantly better survival compared with the deficient group. Furthermore, at the 1-year follow-up of 25(OH)D status, the persistently non-deficient group and the improved group had better survival compared with the other two groups. Conclusions: Our results suggest that maintaining an optimal 25(OH)D status at diagnosis and during the 1-year follow-up period is important for improving breast cancer patient survival.

        ORIGNAL PAPER : Effect of Long-tem high-fat diet and fasting on energy mentabolic substrates utilization in reseing in resting rats

        The effects of a high-fat diet and fasting on resting energy expenditure and energy substrate utilization were examined using the method of measuring whole body energy metabolism and oxygen uptake. Eight 4-week old male Sprague-Dawley rats were used for the high-fat diet experiment. Energy metabolism was measured using acrylic metabolic chambers over 24 hours. After 1-week of preliminary feeding, 4 rats were fed a chow diet, whereas the remaining 4 rats were fed a high-fat diet (HF) ad libitum, which contained 40% (w/w, calorie base 60%) more fat than that in the chow diet. The flow rate to measure energy metabolism inside the chamber was controlled at a mean of 3.5 L/min, and five chambers were subjected to measurement. One of the five chambers was used to correct errors by measuring the atmosphere. As a result of 5 weeks of control diet and high-fat diet feeding, body weight of the high-fat diet group tended to increase more than that in the control diet fed group, but the difference was not significant. Oxygen uptake and carbon dioxide production changed as time went on over the 24 hr. The respiratory exchange ratio also changed during the 24 hr, and the difference between the groups was significant. The control group showed significantly more carbohydrate oxidation than that of the high-fat diet fed group. A fasting experiment was conducted using six 7-week old Sprague-Dawley male rats. Energy metabolism measurements were performed using the same method as that used in the high-fat diet experiment; resting metabolism was measured prior to fasting, and a fasting condition began from 9:00 am the next day for 3 days to calculate energy metabolism. Both body weight and 24-hour oxygen uptake decreased significantly as a result of 3-day fasting. Total oxygen uptake in the first day decreased, and declined significantly on day 3 of fasting. Total 24-hour carbon dioxide production decreased significantly over the 3 days. The mean 24-hour respiratory exchange ratio decreased significantly. Additionally, energy expenditure during the dark period (20:00-08:00), which is the active period for rats, decreased significantly with fasting, whereas energy expenditure during the light period (08:00-20:00) did not increase by fasting.

        Effects of endurance training for 4weeks on resting metabolic rate and excess post-exercise oxygen consumption in mouse

        This study assessed the amount of energy consumed and fat deposition after endurance training in order to review the effect of 4-week endurance exercise on resting metabolic rate of a mouse during and after exercise and the effect of exercise. A total of 19 seven-week-old ICR male mice were used as the study subject. Those mice were divided into sedentary group (Sed) and trained group (Tr) after a week of environment adaption. The Tr group was trained with endurance exercise five times a week for four weeks. Weight and the amount of food intake were daily weighed and resting metabolic rate and metabolic rate after exercise were assessed before starting exercise and on the fourth week after training. Metabolic rate during exercise were measured four weeks after training. At the end of breeding period, statistically significant difference was shown in weights of trained and sedentary groups (p < 0.05). During a resting period, no significant difference was shown in oxygen intake, respiratory exchange ratio, and the amount of carbohydrate and fat oxidized. Moreover, no significant difference was shown in excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) of an hour period after training. In contrast, the maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max) was approximately 11.1% higher in trained group after training compare to before. However, there was no significant difference in respiratory exchange ratio and carbohydrate and fat oxidization. During exercise, oxygen uptake, carbon dioxide production, and respiratory exchange ratio in energy metabolism during exercise showed no significant difference. However, significant difference was exhibited in the amount of fat oxidized in both groups. Summing up those results, endurance exercise could be concluded to be effective in weight control. However, weight loss is thought to be resulted from increase in fat oxidization during exercise unlike the conclusion made from previous studies where weight loss is prominently influenced by energy metabolism during a resting period and increased fat oxidation during post-exercise recovery. All experimental procedures were carried out at the Animal Experiment Research Center of Konkuk University. This study was conducted in accordance with the ethical guidelines of the Konkuk University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
