Composition and biochemical properties of ale beer enriched with lignans from Schisandra chinensis Baillon (omija) fruits

        Yang Deng,임주호,Thi Thanh Hanh Nguyen,목일균,Meizi Piao,김도만 한국식품과학회 2020 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.29 No.5

To develop a beverage with high antioxidantcapacity and desirable sensory characteristics, Schisandrachinensis (omija) fruits were added to ale type beer atdifferent time points of the brewing process. The phenoliccompounds contents in beer were found to be dependent atthe moment of the addition of omija fruit. Addition ofomija fruits at the initiation of boiling imparted highestoxidative stability to beer and resulted in highest totalphenolic and flavonoid contents in ale beer (606.82 mgGAE/L and 406.75 mg QE/L, respectively). The amountsof schisandrin, gomisin A and gomisin B in beer were12.10 mg/mL, 3.12 mg/mL and 0.86 mg/mL, respectively. Taken together, it is hypothesized that the addition of omijafruits to traditional brewing process can improve thedevelopment of value-added beer products.

Brewing Rutin-Enriched Lager Beer with Buckwheat Malt as Adjuncts

( Yang Deng ),( Juho Lim ),( Gang-hee Lee ),( Thi Thanh Hanh Nguyen ),( Yang Xiao ),( Meizi Piao ),( Doman Kim ) 한국미생물생명공학회(구 한국산업미생물학회) 2019 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.29 No.6

Brewing with buckwheat as an ingredient has been proven to be successful in several previous studies. However, few studies have focused on the effects of buckwheat on the rutin content and antioxidant activity of beer. In order to develop a lager beer with high rutin content and desirable sensory characteristics, tartary buckwheat malt was used as a brewing adjunct. The results showed that the rutin-degrading enzyme was the key factor affecting the rutin content in the wort and beer. Compared to beer made using the common mashing method, the rutin content in the buckwheat beers produced using an improved mashing method was approximately 60 times higher. The total flavonoid contents in buckwheat beers also depended strongly on the mashing methods, ranging from 530.75 to 1,704.68 mg QE/l. The rutin-rich beers also showed better oxidative stability during forced-aging. Meanwhile, the buckwheat beers were found to be acceptable in terms of the main quality attributes, flavor, and taste.

Significantly Higher Percentage of Circulating CD27high Plasma Cells in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients with Infection than with Disease Flare-Up

        Deng-Ho Yang,Deh-Ming Chang,Jenn-Haung Lai,Fu-Huang Lin,Chen-Hung Chen 연세대학교의과대학 2010 Yonsei medical journal Vol.51 No.6

Purpose: To distinguish lupus flare-up from infection in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), we analyze the expression of circulating CD27 high plasma cells in SLE patients with and without infection, in comparison to non-SLE patients with infection. Materials and Methods: The percentage of circulating CD27 high plasma cells was measured by flow cytometry in the following four groups: 36 SLE patients without infection, 23 SLE patients with infection, eight non-SLE patients with infection, and 26 healthy controls. Results: The frequency of CD27high plasma cells had a correlation with the SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) (r = 0.866, p < 0.05), level of anti-dsDNA (r = 0.886, p < 0.05), C3 (r = - 0.392, p < 0.05), and C4(r = - 0.337, p < 0.05) in SLE patients without infection, but there was no correlation with disease activity in SLE patients with infection. Among three groups in particular-SLE without infection, SLE with infection, and non-SLE with infection-the percentages of CD27 high plasma cells were elevated. The percentage of CD27high plasma cells was higher in SLE patients with infection, when compared to SLE patients without infection. Conclusion: The percentage of CD27high plasma cells is a biomarker for disease activity of SLE without infection, under correlation with SLEDAI, anti-dsDNA, and C3 and C4 level. However, when the SLE patients have an infection, the percentage of CD27 high plasma cells is not an adequate biomarker for the survey of disease activity. The percentage of CD27 high plasma cells may serve as a potential parameter to distinguish a lupus flare-up from infection.

Hierarchical Voltage Control Strategy in Multi-bus Islanded Microgrid Based on Secondary Voltage Control Bus Selection Method

        Yang Xiangzhen,Yang QiuQiang,Du Yan,Sun LiLing,Deng Wanwan 대한전기학회 2022 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.17 No.1

To minimized steady-state voltage deviations throughout all load buses under random load disturbances, a selection method of the secondary voltage control bus (SVC-bus) for a multi-bus microgrid (MG) is proposed. The SVC-bus selection method is inspired by the pilot bus selection method in power system and takes the characteristics of MG into account. Moreover, in order to regulate the voltage magnitudes of the buses and improve the accuracy of reactive power distribution among distributed generators (DGs), a tertiary voltage control (TVC) strategy based on SVC-bus is proposed to achieve a compromise among three objectives: (1) minimizing multi-bus voltage deviations, (2) accurate reactive power sharing among droop-controlled DGs by making full use of surplus capacity of renewable energy DGs, and (3) minimizing line losses. The multi-objective function of TVC is solved by the primal–dual interior-point method. Finally, the feasibility of the SVC-bus selection method and the TVC strategy have been verifi ed on a real-time experimental platform of RT-lab and PLC.

Involvement of Orai1 in tunicamycin-induced endothelial dysfunction

        Yang, Hui,Xue, Yumei,Kuang, Sujuan,Zhang, Mengzhen,Chen, Jinghui,Liu, Lin,Shan, Zhixin,Lin, Qiuxiong,Li, Xiaohong,Yang, Min,Zhou, Hui,Rao, Fang,Deng, Chunyu The Korean Society of Pharmacology 2019 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.23 No.2

Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is mediated by disturbance of $Ca^{2+}$ homeostasis. The store-operated calcium (SOC) channel is the primary $Ca^{2+}$ channel in non-excitable cells, but its participation in agent-induced ER stress is not clear. In this study, the effects of tunicamycin on $Ca^{2+}$ influx in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were observed with the fluorescent probe Fluo-4 AM. The effect of tunicamycin on the expression of the unfolded protein response (UPR)-related proteins BiP and CHOP was assayed by western blotting with or without inhibition of Orai1. Tunicamycin induced endothelial dysfunction by activating ER stress. Orai1 expression and the influx of extracellular $Ca^{2+}$ in HUVECs were both upregulated during ER stress. The SOC channel inhibitor SKF96365 reversed tunicamycin-induced endothelial cell dysfunction by inhibiting ER stress. Regulation of tunicamycin-induced ER stress by Orai1 indicates that modification of Orai1 activity may have therapeutic value for conditions with ER stress-induced endothelial dysfunction.

Non-enzymatic browning of a composite puree of Choerospondias axillaris, snow pear, and apple: kinetic modeling and correlation analysis

        Yang Ye,Wenxin Deng,Anjiao Li,Yingting Wu,Xianling Yuan,Yang Wang 한국식품과학회 2023 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.32 No.8

Choerospondias axillaris, snow pear, and apple composite fruit puree can be affected by non-enzymatic browning during storage decreasing the market value of the product. This study aimed to explore, using kinetic methods, the effects of non-enzymatic precursors (polyphenols and ascorbic acid) and intermediates (5-hydroxymethylfurfural) on fruit puree stored at 4 °C for 35 days. The results showed that ascorbic acid fitted the first-order reaction model, while the 5-hydroxymethylfurfural was consistent with the complex reaction model. Furthermore, the 5-hydroxymethylfurfural content was 1.53 ± 0.18 mg/L, (corresponding to an increase of 565%), and the ascorbic acid content was 0.88 ± 0.22 mg/100 g, (corresponding to a decrease of 98.5%). The results also demonstrated a change in the titratable acid, soluble solids, and pH of the fruit puree. Finally, the correlation results revealed a significant correlation between non-enzymatic browning and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, titratable acid, and pH (p < 0.05). Overall, the results suggest that the Maillard reaction could be responsible for the non-enzymatic browning of fruit purees during storage.

UKF Based Nonlinear Offset-free Model Predictive Control for Ship Dynamic Positioning under Stochastic Disturbances

        Fang Deng,Hua-Lin Yang,Long-Jin Wang,Wei-Min Yang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.12

This paper presents the schemes of nonlinear offset-free model predictive control (MPC) for reference tracking of ship dynamic positioning (DP) systems, in the presence of slow-varying stochastic disturbances and input constraints. Two offset-free MPC strategies for nonlinear DP systems are proposed. The first approach, namely, the target calculation formulation, estimates the disturbance based on the augmented disturbance model, and employs a target calculator to address the MPC optimization problem. The second approach, namely, the delta input formulation, works with the augmented velocity model to lump the effects of disturbances into the input estimates. By successively on-line linearizing the state-space model at the current operating point, the future outputs are explicitly predicted, and then the nonlinear optimization problem becomes an easy quadratic optimization problem. The unscented Kalman filter is adopted for the state estimation. By implementing simulations for two scenarios of disturbances with parametric plant-model mismatch, the effectiveness of the two strategies is demonstrated. Results show that the closed-loop control performance of the delta input formulation method is superior, for its good robustness to the stochastic disturbance.

The Research on Prediction Models for Urban Family Member Trip Generation

        Shuo Yang,Wei Deng,Qionghua Deng,Pengming Fu 대한토목학회 2016 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.20 No.7

This paper validates the hypothesis that head of household’s attributes and travel behavior having effects on other family members’ trip frequency in the same household. With using Multinomial Logit Model (MNL) and data source obtained from Resident Trip Survey in Nanjing, 2010, it shows that other family members’ trip frequency are much more relative to head of household’s. Therefore, we propose an idea that investigates the potential possibility of using Multinomial Logit model (MNL) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) to predict other family members’ trip frequency with household’s information. By comparing the prediction accuracy, it is found that the SVM only slightly performs better on overall average accuracy. Then a modified SVM model with significant variables estimated by MNL model is given. The results report that, modified SVM model not only performs better on overall average accuracy than general SVM model and MNL model, but significantly improves partial average accuracy compared with general SVM model. However, the modified SVM still expectedly has a poor performance on predicting for small proportion samples. In the end, some possible improvements are discussed as well as expectation for further studies.

Research on static and dynamic behaviors of PC track beam for straddle monorail transit system

        Yongqing Yang,Deng Yang,Hongye Gou,Yi Bao 국제구조공학회 2019 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.31 No.5

In this study, in-situ static and dynamic tests of four pre-stressed concrete (PC) track beams with different span lengths and curvatures in a straddle monorail transit system were reported. In the static load tests, the strain and deflection at critical sections of the PC track beams were measured to determine the load bearing capacity and stiffness. The dynamic responses of strain, deflection, acceleration, and displacement at key positions of the PC track beams were measured under different train speeds and train loads to systematically study the dynamic behaviors of the PC track beams. A three-dimensional finite element model of the track beam-vehicle coupled vibration system was established to help understand the dynamic behavior of the system, and the model was verified using the test results. The research results show that the curvature, span length, train speed, and train loads have significant influence on the dynamic responses of the PC track beams. The dynamic performance of the PC track beams in the curve section is susceptible to dynamic loads. Appropriate train loads can effectively reduce the impact of the train on the PC track beam. The PC track beams allow good riding comfort.
