        Du, Ling-Bin,Li, Hui-Zhang,Wang, Xiang-Hui,Zhu, Chen,Liu, Qing-Min,Li, Qi-Long,Li, Xue-Qin,Shen, Yong-Zhou,Zhang, Xin-Pei,Ying, Jiang-Wei,Yu, Chuan-Ding,Mao, Wei-Min Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.14

Objective: The Zhejiang Provincial Cancer Prevention and Control Office collected cancer registration data during 2000 to 2009 from 6 cancer registries in Zhejiang province of China in order to analyze the cancer incidence. Methods: Descriptive analysis included cancer incidence stratified by sex, age and cancer site group. The proportions and cumulative rates of 10 common cancers in different groups were also calculated. Chinese population census in 1982 and Segi's population were used for calculating age-standardized incidence rates. The log-linear model was used for fitting to calculate the incidence trends. Results: The 6 cancer registries in Zhejiang province in China covered a total of 60,087,888 person-years during 2000 to 2009 (males 30,445,904, females 29,641,984). The total number of new cancer cases were 163,104 (males 92,982, females 70,122). The morphology verified cases accounted for 69.7%, and the new cases verified only by information from death certification accounted for 1.23%. The crude incidence rate in Zhejiang cancer registration areas was $271.5/10^5$ during 2000 to 2009 (male $305.41/10^5$, female $236.58/10^5$), age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese standard population (ASIRC) and by world standard population (ASIRW) were $147.1/10^5$ and $188.2/10^5$, the cumulative incidence rate (aged from 0 to 74) being 21.7%. The crude incidence rate was $209.6/10^5$ in 2000, and it increased to $320.20/10^5$ in 2009 (52.8%), with an annual percent change (APC) of 4.51% (95% confidence interval, 3.25%-5.79%). Age-specific incidence rate of 80-84 age group was achieved at the highest point of the incidence curve. Overall with different age groups, the cancer incidences differed, the incidence of liver cancer being highest in 15-44 age group in males; the incidence of breast cancer was the highest in 15-64 age group in females; the incidences of lung cancer were the highest in both males and females over the age of 65 years. Conclusions: Lung cancer, digestive system malignancies and breast cancer are the most common cancers in Zhejiang province in China requiring an especial focus. The incidences of thyroid cancer, prostate cancer, cervical cancer and lymphoma have increased rapidly. Prevention and control measures should be implemented for these cancers.

      • Increased Frequency of Foxp3+ Regulatory T Cells in Mice with Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Du, Yong,Chen, Xin,Huang, Zhi-Ming,Ye, Xiao-Hua,Niu, Qing Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.8

The CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cell (Treg) is a special kind of T cell subset. Studies have showed that Treg cells are involved in a number of physiological processes and pathologic conditions such as autoimmune diseases, transplantation tolerance and cancer. Tregs with unique capacity for immune inhibition can impair anti-tumour immunity and help tumor cells to escape from immune surveillance. The aim of our study was to investigate whether Tregs are involved in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A BABL/C mouse with HCC in situ model was established to evaluate the Treg existence in carcinoma tissues and the changes of Tregs in spleen using flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry methods. Granzyme B expression in carcinoma tissues was analyzed by immunohistochemistry to investigate the tumor local immune status. The proportion of CD4+CD25+/CD4+ spleen lymphocytes of tumor bearing mice ($18.8%{\pm}1.26%$) was found to be significantly higher than that in normal mice ($9.99%{\pm}1.90%$) (P<0.01 ). Immunohistochemistry of spleen tissue also confirmed that there was an increase in Treg in tumor-bearing mice, while in carcinomas it showed Treg cells to be present in tumor infiltrating lymphocyte areas while Granzyme B was rarely observed. Anti-tumour immunity was suppressed, and this might be associated with the increase of Tregs. Our observations suggest that the CD4+CD25+Treg/CD4+ proportion in spleen lymphocytes can be a sensitive index to evaluate the change of Tregs in hepatocellular carcinoma mice and the Treg may be a promising therapeutic target for cancer.

Proteomic Analysis of Sericin in Bombyx mori Cocoons

Xin Du,Yuyin Chen 한국생물공학회 2011 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.16 No.3

Cocoon sericin plays an important role in the reeling of silk and serves as a valuable biomaterial in the field of biomedicine, skincare, and food industries; however, knowledge about cocoon sericin proteins has been limited. For a comprehensive study on sericin, cocoons of eight varieties of silkworm of different geographic origin and with varied cocoon color were analyzed utilizing proteomics and bioinformatics approaches. The electrophoresis pattern demonstrated some common protein bands for all silkworm varieties and distinctive protein bands for some of those examined in the present study. The Ser2protein, a new Ser3 protein, and four other novel sericin proteins were identified in cocoons for the first time. Products of both Ser1 and Ser3 genes appear to be ubiquitous in the cocoon shell of Bombyx mori. In addition, cocoons with especially high-reelability produced by the mutant strain B84 had an unique protein product of the Ser2 gene, indicating that the protein may play an important role in cocoon reelability. A series of sequence conflicts and post-translational modifications (PTMs) were also revealed in sericin proteins. Lipid modifications of sericin proteins, which promote waterproofing of the cocoon shell, were observed. Further, hydroxylation was identified, which provided evidence for intermolecular bonds among neighboring molecules of sericin as found in collagens. The sericin proteome data obtained from this study illuminated the molecular complexity of cocoon sericin and contributed to our understanding of the properties of sericin in filature and biomaterials.

Tetragonal zirconia based ternary ZnO-ZrO2-MOx solid solution catalysts for highly selective conversion of CO2 to methanol at High reaction temperature

        Xin Fang,Yunting Xi,He Jia,Chuang Chen,Yisong Wang,Yanli Song,Tao Du 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.88 No.-

Catalytic conversion of CO2 to methanol has attracted increasing interests as a promising strategy forreducing excessive CO2 emissions. However, the methanol selectivity drops rapidly with elevatedtemperature due to enhanced CO synthesis using conventional catalysts, which hiders its application. Herein, ZnO-ZrO2 solid solution catalysts (SSCs) were prepared with different methods and modified byadding extra metal, i.e., Al, Cr, Fe or Mg. As-prepared SSCs were characterized and tested in reaction. Theresults show that prepared ZnO-ZrO2 SSCs possess similar chemical compositions but different crystals, morphologies and pore systems, among which the C-ZZ synthesized by co-precipitation exhibits theoptimal property. After doping, the basic crystal of tetragonal ZrO2 can be retained and ternary ZnO-ZrO2-MOx SSCs are successfully prepared. There come dramatic improvements in overall catalyticperformance. Specifically, the 3Mg-C-ZZ SSC, at 3.0 MPa and GHSV of~2000 h 1, maintains a considerablemethanol selectivity of 81.5 % even at 320 C. Prepared catalysts present remarkable superiorities toconventional copper-based catalysts especially at high reaction temperatures, which endures thempromising applications in coupling conversion of CO2 to valuable chemicals with the intermedia ofmethanol.

      • Tumor-derived CD4+CD25+ Tregs Inhibit the Maturation and Antigen-Presenting Function of Dendritic Cells

Du, Yong,Chen, Xin,Lin, Xiu-Qing,Wu, Wei,Huang, Zhi-Ming Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.7

CD4+CD25+regulatory T cells (Tregs) play a key role in regulation of immnue response and maintenance of self-tolerance. Studies have found Tregs could suppress tumor-specific T cell-mediated immune response and promote cancer progression. Depletion of Tregs can enhance antitumor immunity. Dendritic cells (DCs) are professional antigen-presenting cells and capable of activating antigen-specific immune responses, which make them ideal candidate for cancer immunotherapy. Now various DC vaccines are considered as effective treatment for cancers. The aim of this study was to evaluate variation of Tregs in BALB/C mice with hepatocellular carcinoma and investigate the interaction between tumor-derived Tregs, effector T cells (Teff) and splenic DCs. We found the percentages of Tregs/CD4+ in the peripheral blood of tumor-bearing mice were higher than in normal mice. Tumor-derived Tregs diminished the up-regulation of costimulatory molecule expression on splenic DCs, even in the presence of Teff cells and simultaneously inhibited IL-12 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ secretion by DCs.

Progress in Adsorption-Enhanced Hydrogenation of CO2 on Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) Derived Catalysts

        Xin Fang,Chuang Chen,He Jia,Yingnan Li,Jian Liu,Yisong Wang,Yanli Song,Tao Du,Liying Liu 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.95 No.-

It is acknowledged as a promising strategy to reduce excessive CO2 emissions by catalytic conversion tovalue-added chemicals, in which layered double hydroxide (LDH) derived catalysts play essential roles. Inthe present review, latest progresses were summarized to gain insights on this issue. LDH-derivedcatalysts can be prepared via various methods and possess favorable characteristics of reversibletopotactic transformation for further development. Compared to conventional catalysts, they showspecific advantages in specific surface area, metal element dispersion and active site distribution. Despiteof distinguished LDH-derived catalysts applied in CO2 reduction reactions to methane, methanol, hydrocarbons, etc., state-of-art LDH-derived catalysts consisted of catalyst-adsorbent synergistic systemare recently constructed to employ the surface CO2 adsorption boundary layer to increase the CO2 partialpressure near active sites for hydrogenation. The overall catalytic performance is thus promoteddramatically. Accordingly, the strategy of adsorption-enhanced hydrogenation is expected to facilitatethe industrialization of CO2 hydrogenation and is instructive for catalyst design in future.

Accurate delivery of pristimerin and paclitaxel by folic acid-linked nano-micelles for enhancing chemosensitivity in cancer therapy

        Chen Chao,Du Shiyu,Zhong Wu,Liu Kunguo,Qu Lihua,Chu Feiyi,Yang Jingjing,Han Xin 나노기술연구협의회 2022 Nano Convergence Vol.9 No.52

Chemoresistance remains a huge challenge for effective treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Previous studies have shown Chinese herbal extracts possess great potential in ameliorating tumor chemoresistance, however, the efficacy is clinically limited mainly because of the poor tumor-targeting and in vivo stability. The construction of nano-delivery systems for herbal extracts has been shown to improve drug targeting, enhance therapeutic efficacy and reduce toxic and side effects. In this study, a folic acid (FA)-modified nano-herb micelle was developed for codelivery of pristimerin (PRI) and paclitaxel (PTX) to enhance chemosensitivity of NSCLC, in which PRI could synergistically enhance PTX-induced growth inhibition of A549 cancer cell. PTX was firstly grafted with the FA-linked polyethylene glycol (PEG) and then encapsulated with PRI to construct the PRI@FA-PEG-PTX (P@FPP) nano-micelles (NMs), which exhibited improved tumor-targeting and in vivo stability. This active-targeting P@FPP NMs displayed excellent tumor-targeting characteristics without obvious toxicity. Moreover, inhibition of tumor growth and metastasis induced by P@FPP NMs were significantly enhanced compared with the combined effects of the two drugs (PRI in combination of PTX), which associated with epithelial mesenchymal transition inhibition to some extent. Overall, this active-targeting NMs provides a versatile nano-herb strategy for improving tumor-targeting of Chinese herbal extracts, which may help in the promotion of enhancing chemosensitivity of NSCLC in clinical applications.

Facile Fabrication of Quaternary Ammonium Salt Modified Cotton Linter by Radiation Grafting and its Effective Removal of Methyl Orange: Batch and Dynamic Flow Mode Studies

        Jifu Du,Manman Zhang,Zhen Dong,Xin Yang,Houhua Xiong,Zhengkui Zeng,Zhiyuan Chen,Long Zhao 한국섬유공학회 2022 Fibers and polymers Vol.23 No.4

Methyl orange plays a vital role in various branches of the dyeing and textile industries and must be treated beforebeing discharged into the environment. In this study, methacryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (DMC) functionalizedcotton linter (DMCCL) was prepared using a radiation technique. The prepared DMCCL was then characterized by IR, SEM,TG, and XPS analyses. The results showed that DMC was successfully grafted onto the surface of the cotton linter. Theadsorption performance toward methyl orange (MO) was investigated using batch and fix-bed column experiments. Adsorption kinetic and isotherm studies were well described by pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm model, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacity for MO was 645.16 mg/g. The fixed-bed column experiment showed thatThomas and Yoon-Nelson models described the experimental data well. The column study showed the adsorption capacityreached 564.46 mg/g with a MO concentration of 25 mg/l and flow rate 1.5 ml/min. The saturated DMCCL column could beregenerated efficiently by eluting with 1 M HCl. Therefore, the DMCCL exhibited excellent adsorption performance, whichis suitable for MO removal from aqueous solution.

Do the types of subsidies and firms’ heterogeneity affect the effectiveness of public R&D subsidies? Evidence from China’s Innofund programme

        Fu Xin,Jie Zhang,Zhiyuan Chen,Xiaorong Du 기술경영경제학회 2016 ASIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION Vol.24 No.3

This paper aims to fill the gap in the extensive literature on the results of interaction betweenpublic and private R&D expenditures. Two types of public R&D subsidies, the appropriationsand loan interest, are investigated in the effect of public subsidies by applying for a uniquemicro data set of Chinese manufacturing firms combined with the Innovation Fund forSmall and Medium Technology-based Firms (Innofund). The results are consistent with theprediction that loan interest subsidies based on more competitive selective system are moreeffective for the public R&D subsidies than the appropriations. Firms’ heterogeneity, measured by state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private-owned enterprises (POEs), is testedfor the different impact of public subsidies on corporate R&D investment. The results showthat the crowding-in effect is mainly driven by POEs, not by SOEs, which confirms thetheoretical assumption by Aghion and Tirole that the agency problem play a dominant rolein corporate R&D activities. An improved econometric method, combined propensity scorematching with difference-in-differences estimation strategy, is applied for correcting theselection bias. Our results are robust to different matching techniques.

        Huiyue Zhou,Xin Wang,Ruofei Du,Xiang Cheng,Kexin Zheng,Shiqi Dong,Justin Henri,Changying Chen,Tao Wang 한국간호과학회 2021 Asian Nursing Research Vol.15 No.3

Purpose: This study was to investigate the work experience of newly recruited male nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: With a phenomenological approach, this qualitative study was adopted semistructured interviews by phone or video calls. A total of 9 male nurses newly recruited for the COVID-19 wards in Chinese hospitals were interviewed for this study. And Colaizzi's method was applied for evaluation in the data analysis. Results: Based on our findings, three themes were extracted. First, the newly recruited male nurses showed negative emotions at the beginning of COVID-19 epidemic, which was caused by changes in working conditions and content, but also prompted the nurses to change the way of coping with the crisis. Second, they gradually mastered the working skills and psychological training to cope with COVID- 19 and developed a positive attitude toward life and a high sense of professional responsibility. Finally, we learned about their needs to respond to public health emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: COVID-19 is a disaster for all of humanity. The newly recruited male nurses are an important force in emergency rescue. Although they suffered from short-term negative emotions, they quickly adapted to the crisis. In order to better prepare for future emergencies, the disaster response capacity of newly recruited male nurses needs to be further improved. In addition, newly recruited male nurses have a strong demand for timely and personalized career development guidance.
