        Impacts of the power plant operation located in the coastal area of Samchonpo were investgated in the view point of the population dynamics of zoo -and phytoplankton five times seasonally during the period from August 7 1990 to August 27 1991. Ninty nine taxa of phytoplankton, representing 2 forma, 1 variety, 79 species and 17 unidentified species belonging to 39 genera were tentatively identified. Phytoplankton standing crops varied with months and stations ranging from 5.8×104cells /l (November 1990, station 5) to 4.83×106cells /l (May 1991, station 4) in surface, ranging from 2.9×105cells /l (Novemver 1990, station 5) to 5.90×106cells /l (May 1991, station 4) in bottom. Dominant species through the present study were Chaetoceros compressus and C. curvisetus in August 1990, Nitzschia pungens in November, Eucampia zodiacus and Skeletonema costatum in February 1991, Leptocylindrus danicus in May, and S. costatum and S. tropicum in August. Causative organisms of red -tide due to diatoms were 24 taxa. Among them, six species occurred throughout the year ; Chaetoceros debilis, Cylindrotheca closterium, Guinardia flaccida, Nitzschia pungens, Rhizosolenia setigera and Skeletonema costatum. Chlorophyll -α was fluctuated ranging from 6.18mg /m3 (August 1990, station 1) to 23. 77mg /m3(February 1991, station 4) in surface, This value of chlorophyll -a might be assumed that eutrophication occurred in studied waters. Twenty two taxa of zooplankton communities, representing 14 copepods, 4 cladocerans, 2 chaetognaths, 1 protozoan and 1 appendicularian were identified. Zooplankton abundance varied with months and stations ranging from 1,677 indiv./m3 to 18,057 indiv./m3.

        기후변화협약 시대의 태양에너지 개발 전망

        1994년부터 발효된 UN 기후변화협약은 지구온난화의 방지를 위해서 각국의 자발적인 이산화탄소 배출 저감을 의무 사항으로 규정하고 있다. 우리나라도 21세기에 들어서면 본격적으로 이산화탄소 배출 저감을 추진해야 할 것으로 예상되지만 에너지 절약의 측면에서나 대체에너지개발의 측면에서 다른 나라들보다 상황이 크게 불리한 입장에 있다.<br/> 기후변화협약에 대비하는 한 대안으로 태양에너지를 이용할 필요성이 상당히 증대될 것이기 때문에 앞으로 태양에너지 관련 기술에 대한 수요는 현재보다 상당히 높아질 것으로 예상된다. 이런 점을 감안해서 본고에서는 먼저 기후변화협약의 내용들을 살펴보고 이에 대응하는 수단으로서 태양에너지 기술 개발의 전망을 포괄적으로 검토하였다. 특히 우리나라에서는 고효율 태양전지의 대량 생산 기술과 태양열 이용 온수기 및 난방 시설의 효율 증진 기술 등이 유망하다고 전망되었다. Since entered into force in 1994, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) would require all the member nations to adopt national programme for mitigating climate change and industrialized countries to undertake specific commitments of carbon dioxide emission reduction. Considering all the situation, it may be safe to assume that Korea would undertake such commitment early in the next century. Unfortunately, however, we are in the position that is very disadvantageous in preparing national strategies for carbon dioxide reduction mainly due to our rigid energy-intensive economic structure and poor geographic conditions.

        To develop a novel triamcinolone acetonide (TAA)-loaded spray for the treatment of stomatitis, several spray solutions were prepared using various amounts of TAA, Eudragit® L100 (Eudragit L) and PEG 400, and 100 ml ethanol. Their viscosity and spraying potential were investigated, with the result that the spraying threshold was 9.5 cP. The effect of PEG 400 on the properties of films formed after spraying was assessed. Its anti-inflammatory effect in mice was evaluated and compared to a commercial product. As the PEG 400 concentration increased, the film elongation and washability by the saliva solution increased, and tensile strength decreased. PEG 400 had little effect on mucoadhesive force and drug release. The TAA-loaded spray solution containing TAA, Eudragit L, PEG 400 and ethanol at the ratio of 1:6:3:100 (w/w/w/v) was easy to spray onto stomatitis lesions in the mouth via a spraying vessel incorporating a long straw. After spraying, the TAA-loaded spray formed a film with suitable elongation, tensile strength and washability that attached onto the mucosal membrane and released the drug. Moreover, it had excellent anti-inflammatory properties, similar to those of the commercial product. Thus, this novel TAA-loaded spray solution was easy to administer, had good film properties and excellent anti-inflammatory efficacy, and is therefore a potential candidate for the treatment of stomatitis.

        Background: Gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) is an enzyme mainly produced from the cells of the hepatobiliary tract. And, It has been introduced as a biomarker for oxidative stress by smoking as well as alcohol consumption. This study was performed to evaluate the association between smoking and serum GGT concentration Methods: The effect of cigarette smoking on serum activities of the enzyme, GGT was investigated using the data of the 5th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (5th KNHANES, 2010 to 2012); a cross-sectional survey in the general population of Korea. Results: We analyzed 11,670 subjects (age> 19 years) who had the data about smoking status and serum GGT levels. Subjects comprised 4,597 subjects who are cigarette smokers and 7,073 who do not smoke, which serves as control. The mean ± standard deviation (S.D) of serum GGT levels in cigarette smokers and non-smokers were 48.74± 69.35 U/L and 23.18± 24.03 U/L respectively, showing a significant increase in serum level of GGT (P<0.001) when compared with controls. GGT levels showed a significant positive correlation with amount of smoking (r=0.249, P<0.001). Cigarette smoking produced a significant increase in GGT activity irrespective of low to moderate alcohol consumption Conclusions: The levels of serum GGT was significantly associated with the status and amount of smoking. Smoking should be taken into account when assessing the signifi-cance of GGT activities.

        <P>A 5d–3d bimetallic compound was prepared by self-assembling[W(CN)<SUB>8</SUB>]<SUP>3–</SUP> and the Mn<SUP>III</SUP> Schiffbases. This neutral complex consists of cyanide-linked W<SUP>V</SUP>Mn<SUP>III</SUP> anionic chains and isolated Mn<SUP>III</SUP> Schiffbase cations.         End-to-End Azide-Bridged Manganese(III) Chain Compounds: Field-Induced Magnetic Phase Transitions and Variation of <i>T</i><sub>C</sub> to 38 K Depending on the Side Groups of the Schiff Bases

        <P>Three one-dimensional coordination polymers [Mn(L)(N<SUB>3</SUB>)]<SUB><I>n</I></SUB> [L = L1 (<B>1</B>), L2 (<B>2</B>), L3 (<B>3</B>); L1H<SUB>2</SUB> = <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>′-bis(5-chlorosalicylideneiminato)-1,3-diaminopentane, L2H<SUB>2</SUB> = <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>′-bis(5-bromosalicylideneiminato)-1,3-diaminopentane, L3H<SUB>2</SUB> = <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>′-bis(5-bromosalicylideneiminato)-1,3-diamino-2-dimethylpropane] bridged by end-to-end azides were prepared. The crystal systems differ according to the Schiff bases used. Each Mn atom adopts a typical Jahn–Teller distortion. The helicity of the chains occurs in a racemic manner only for <B>2</B>. No noncovalent forces are relevant in <B>2</B>, while π–π contacts are visible in <B>1</B> and <B>3</B>. Magnetic measurements show the presence of apparent spin canting. Complexes <B>1</B> and <B>3</B> exhibit a field-induced metamagnetic transition from an antiferromagnetic state to a weak ferromagnetic phase, whereas <B>2</B> embraces a field-induced two-step magnetic phase transition. The critical temperature is observed at 38 K for <B>2</B>, which is relatively higher than those for <B>1</B> (11 K) and <B>3</B> (10 K). The pronounced long-range order may contribute from intrachain exchange couplings and through-space dipolar interactions between adjacent chains.</P><P>Three azide-linked Mn<SUP>III</SUP> coordination chains with different tetradentate Schiff bases were prepared. Magnetic properties show that spin canting is operating in these complexes. A long-range order occurs in <B>2</B> with a relatively high <I>T</I><SUB>C</SUB> of 38 K, which is compared with <B>1</B> (11 K) and <B>3</B> (10 K).         생태적 모델에 의한 호수의 수질예측기법 ; 의암호의 수질예측

        For the water quality prediction of Lake Euiam which sites near Chuncheon City, the major pollution source in North Han River basin, a one-dimensional dynamic model, WQRRS, was applied and tested. This ecological model requires various input data such as lake geography, inflow and outflow, tribularies water quality, and meterological informations on the daily average basis, and predicts every day outflow water quality and biological information in the lake system. In 1980 simulations, the outflow water qualities coincided with the real situations. The simulation results with the increased pollution loads in the year 1991 and 2001 estimated by KAIST showed that the eutrophication problem would be more serious than the BOD increment within near future in Lake Euiam. The experience of WQRRS operation confirmed this model could be applicable to most lake systems with high reliability.
