영어듣기 수업에서 예습활동은 학습자의 사전 지식구조를 활성화하여 듣기 전에 학습 자료의 주제나 문체에 친숙하게 해주는 수업기법이다. 이 활동은 텍스트의 전반적인 구성과 내용을 사전에 인지함으로 내용에 대한 이해를 신장시켜주고 학습동기를 유발 할 수 있게 해준다. 이에 본 연구에서는 내용에 향한 피드백이 대학교 영어 듣기 수업에서 학생들의 영어듣기에 영향을 줄 수 있는지를 알아보고자 영어 학습능력성취에 따라 분류된 상. 중. 하 학생들의 영어듣기 과제로 분석하였다. 본 연구를 위해서 중국 대학교 1학년 51명이 실험집단과 비교집단으로 나누어졌으며 8주간의 영어듣기 수업을 진행하였다. 연구 기간은 2010년 10월부터 2010년 12월까지 일주일에 1회씩 정규수업으로 진행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 사전지식의 활성화를 통해서 비교집단과 실험집단은 듣기과제에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 특히 사전지식의 활성화 효과가 실험 집단의 중, 하 수준에서 가장 잘 나타났다. 이 결과로부터 사전지식의 활성화 기법이 대학교 외국어 듣기수업에서 영어듣기 향상을 위한 중요한 단계라고 할 수 있다.
Triterpenoids and Diarylheptainoids from Alnus hirsuta Inhibit HIF-1 in AGS Cells

Bioassay-guided fractionation and purification of the EtOAc soluble fraction from the MeOH extract of the stem bark of Alnus hirsuta (Betulaceae), using an in vitro HIF-1 assay, led to the isolation of four triterpenoids (1-4) and six diarylheptanoids (5-10). Their structures were deter-mined by comparison with the physicochemical and spectroscopic data in the literature. These compounds were investigated for their effects on the hypoxia-induced HlF-1 activation using an HIF-1 a mediated reporter gene assay in AGS cells. Among them, two diarylheptanoids, 2-oxatrycyclo[13.2.2.13,7]eicosa-3,5,7(20),15,17,18-hexaen-10-16-diol (6) and 2-oxatrycyclo[13.2.2.13,7]eicosa-3,5,7-(20),15,17,18-hexaen-10-one (7), inhibited HIF-1 activation dose-dependently with IC$_{50}$ values of 11.2 ${\mu}$M and 12.3 ${\mu}$M, respectively. These two compounds had no significant cytotoxicity to the AGS cells at the effective concentration for the inhibition of HIF-1 activation.

Existing PWM methods suffer from a trade off between zero-sequence circulating current (ZSCC) and line-current ripple, which are two major concerns of two parallel interleaved two-level (2L) voltage-source converters (VSCs). Thus, this paper introduces a novel space vector-based PWM strategy to reduce both line-current ripple and ZSCC. Given the redundancy of the vector combination of two parallel interleaved converters, this paper proposes eight optimal vector sequences, which simultaneously optimizes the ZSCC and the line-current ripple. Then, a carrier-based scheme is applied to yield optimal vector sequences, which simplifies the implementation procedure. Furthermore, this paper quantitatively compares both the ZSCC and the line-current ripple of the proposed method to those of existing PWM schemes. This comparison confirms that the proposed method is superior to existing PWM schemes in terms of current ripple and ZSCC. Finally, experimental results further verify the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

The myostatin (MSTN) gene, as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth, has been proposed to be associated with production traits in farm animals. In the present study, a T/C variant at -125 bp (relative to ATG start codon) of 5'regulatory region of rabbit MSTN was identified by direct sequencing. Two hundred and twenty two rabbits, which were randomly sampled from 3 breeds (Ira rabbits, Champagne rabbits and Tianfu black rabbits), were genotyped by high-resolution melting (HRM). Comparing the genotyping results of 47 samples with direct sequencing, the HRM showed high sensitivity (0.96) and high specificity (0.98). In the three rabbit breeds, the allele C was the predominant allele. The polymorphic site showed high heterozygosity (He = 0.48) and high effective number of alleles (Ne = 1.91). The genetic diversity was reasonably informative (0.25<PIC<0.50). The association analysis showed that the genotype TC had significant effect on the 84-d-weight of rabbits compared with genotype CC (p = 0.047). In contrast, the genotypes had no significant effect on other production traits. These results showed that HRM could be effectively used for genotyping analysis of MSTN gene. The T/C variant in 5'regulatory region of MSTN might be one of the candidate SNP loci affecting the trait of 84-d-weight.

The prevalence of BRCA1 gene mutations in breast cancer differs between diverse ethnic groups. Relatively little information is known about patterns of BRCA1 mutations in early-onset breast cancer in women of Uighur or Han descent, the major ethnic populations of the Xinjiang region in China. The aim of this study was to identify BRCA1 mutations in Uighur and Han patients with early-onset (age <35 years), and sporadic breast cancer for genetic predisposition to breast cancer. For detection of BRCA1 mutations, we used a polymerase chain reaction single-stranded conformation polymorphism approach, followed by direct DNA sequencing in 22 Uighur and 13 Han women with early-onset sporadic breast cancer, and 32 women with benign breast diseases. The prevalence of BRCA1 mutations in this population was 22.9% (8/35) among early-onset sporadic breast cancer cases. Of these, 31.8% (7/22) of Uighur patients and 7.69% (1/13) of Han patients were found to have BRCA1 mutations. In 7 Uighur patients with BRCA1 mutations, there were 11 unique sequence alterations in the BRCA1 gene, including 4 clearly disease-associated mutations on exon 11 and 3 variants of uncertain clinical significance on exon 11, meanwhile 4 neutral variants on intron 20 or 2. None of the 11 BRCA1 mutations identified have been previously reported in the Breast Cancer Information Core database. These findings reflect the prevalence of BRCA1 mutations in Uighur women with early-onset and sporadic breast cancer, which will allow for provision of appropriate genetic counseling and treatment for Uighur patients in the Xinjiang region.
Nonlinear Increase of Spatial Noise for Ultrashort Pulses with Different Temporal Widths

In this paper, the dynamic evolution of the spatial noise modulation of ultrashort laser pulses in carbon disulfide (CS2) is investigated experimentally, and different temporal widths of the stretched pulse are analyzed for spatial noise gain. The spatial noise evolution (i.e., small-scale self-focusing) of ultrashort laser pulses with different temporal widths as a function of the length of the CS2 has been observed. If the spectral bandwidth is invariant, the experimental results show that a stretched pulse with a broader temporal width can postpone the small-scale self-focusing of spatial noise for longer medium length with constant input power or for greater input power with the same medium length. Exercise dosage is proven to be an important factor in the physical treatment. Robot assistive approach can improve the rehabilitation quality and evaluate patient’s recovery quantitatively. This paper presents kinematic structure, assistive control system, and integrated F/T sensor for an upper limb rehabilitation robot. By using the human arm dynamic, there are three rehabilitation modes presented in this paper: active mode, assistive mode, and passive mode. In assistive mode, we have two strategies to implement it. One is to amplify interactive torque, and the other is to apply assist-as-needed concept. The goal of this mode is to assist patients to finish motion tasks. The rehabilitation robot under investigation has 7 degree of freedom (DOF) actuated by DC motors, which are programmed to drive the robot arm in the 3D space. To validate our control design, some realistic experiments are conducted and its satisfactory performance is demonstrated. This work is approved clinical testing by the Department of Health, Executive Yuan, R.O.C. So far, we are demonstrating the effect of our controller.
