Philosophizing by “Double Performance” : from Monologue to Dialogue

Wang Huiling,김여진 강원대학교 인문과학연구소 2022 인문과학연구 Vol.- No.73

This article views “philosophizing” as actively “doing philosophy” and attemptsto introduce philosophical practice into general educational activities. Philosophicalactivities play a positive and enlightening role not only for philosophy students, butalso for those of other disciplines, as well as younger students. “Double performance”provides a direct method of philosophizing in which participants will use what theyhave learned and test their learning before an audience. The aesthetic distancebetween the performer and the audience enhances the appreciation of philosophicalactivities. “Role playing” is not only be used as a method for teachers to cultivatetheir teaching ability, but it can also provide students with a means of directlyimitating an “idol”. This way of “knowing how to play” is conducive to cultivatinga kind of knowledge geared towards students’ growth. Double performance triggersa tripartite relationship and creates a “third person”—a semi-mature intermediatecharacter. This third person role helps (to) more effectively balance the dualrelationship and mitigate educational alienation. This vicious competition caused bymodern society and intensified in postmodern times, has shown more complexmanifestations in the post-pandemic era. In a hyper connected society, philosophyshould exert its supra-disciplinary value in activities, providing freedom from beingtrapped in “hyperreal” closed circuits, guiding educational participants to reflect ontheir own behavior and rebuilding healthy teacher-student relationships.

Effects of Acute Sacral Neuromodulation at Different Pulse Widths on Bladder Overactivity in Pigs

        Huiling Cong,Limin Liao,Yiming Wang,Lingna Zhao,Zhaoxia Wang,Guang Fu,Guoqing Chen 대한배뇨장애요실금학회 2019 International Neurourology Journal Vol.23 No.2

Purpose: Sacral nerve stimulation has been used to treat overactive bladder. This study evaluated the effects of stimulation using different pulse widths on the inhibition of bladder overactivity by sacral nerve stimulation (SNM) in pigs. Methods: Implant-driven stimulators were used to stimulate the S3 spinal nerve in 7 pigs. Cystometry was performed by infusing normal saline (NS) or acetic acid (AA). SNM at pulse widths of 64 μsec to 624 μsec was conducted at the intensity threshold at which observable perianal and/or tail movement was induced. Multiple cystometrograms were performed to determine the effects of different pulse widths on the micturition reflex. Results: AA-induced bladder overactivity reduced the bladder capacity to 46.9%±7.1% of the NS control level (P<0.05). During AA infusion, SNM at 64 μsec, 204 μsec, and 624 μsec increased the bladder capacity to 126.1%±6.9%, 129.5%±7.3%, and 140.1%±7.6% of the AA control level (P<0.05). No significant differences were found among the results obtained using pulse widths of 64 μsec, 204 μsec, and 624 μsec (P>0.05). The actual intensity threshold varied from 0.7 to 8 V. The mean intensity threshold (T visual) for pulse widths of 64 μs, 204 μs, and 624 μs were 5.64±0.76 V, 3.11±0.48 V, and 2.52±0.49 V. T visual for pulse widths of 64 μsec was larger than the other two T visual for pulse widths of 204 μsec and 624 μsec (P<0.05). No significant differences were found among the T visual for pulse widths of 204 μsec and 624 μsec (P>0.05). Conclusions: This study indicated that different pulse widths could play a role in inhibiting bladder overactivity. It is not yet certain which pulse widths increased bladder capacity compared with AA levels, to minimize energy consumption and maintain patient comfort during stimulation, 204 μsec may be an appropriate pulse width for SNM.

miRNA-195-5p/PSAT1 feedback loop in human triple-negative breast cancer cells

        Wang Huiling,Fang Qian,You Shuo,Wu Yaqin,Zhang Chaojie 한국유전학회 2023 Genes & Genomics Vol.45 No.1

Background Substantial evidence suggests that non-coding RNAs, such as microRNAs (miRNAs), play a vital role in human cancer. Phosphoserine aminotransferase 1 (PSAT1) is a serine biosynthesis-related member of the aminotransferase family and is closely associated with worse prognosis in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Objective The present study elucidated the molecular mechanisms underlying PSAT1 regulation by miRNAs in TNBC. Methods After collecting breast cancer and para-cancerous tissues, expression and functional testing of microRNA-195-5p (miR-195-5p) and PSAT1 were implemented both in vivo and in vitro. Results Abnormally low miR-195-5p expression was confirmed in TNBC tissues and cells. The specific targeting effect of miR-195-5p on PSAT1 was screened. Our observations revealed that biological tumor behavior was inhibited after miR-195-5p upregulation and this inhibition could be reversed by PSAT1 overexpression both in vivo and in vitro. Conclusion Our study revealed the regulatory axis of miR-195-5p/PSAT1 in TNBC, suggesting a promising targeted therapy for clinical application.

The Development of Philosophical Activities of the Academic Philosophy Cafe from Language Game to Theater Game

( Wang Huiling ),( He Ruixi ) 한국철학상담치료학회 2021 철학 실천과 상담 Vol.11 No.-

In Practical Philosophy Education, besides the learning of conceptual knowledge and working with an introspective method, students are actively engaged whereby they are played in a new form as a language game. The negative attitudes and the pretending performances were revised from the exercise of answering questions to asking question, and then to continue asking. 1957 Coffee proposes the “cross-questioning” model of using knowledge to play the “game” of philosophy. This playing experience is passed down intellectually in the form of language game, which is to be replayed sentimentally in a theater game. As a pedagogic, the previous philosophical activities are exemplified in the younger generation’s way of learning and “replaying”. As a lifestyle, the historical classical thinking is continued, while the old games of philosophers are played with new and refreshing rules.

The Double Dilemma of Philosophical Dialogue

Wang Huiling,김여진 한국철학상담치료학회 2022 철학 실천과 상담 Vol.12 No.-

Socratic Dialogue has given rise to a question-answer mode of doing philosophy, which is applied in teaching practice. With the promotion of philosophical counseling, some advocates of the Socratic dialogue method have ushered in amateur interlocutors. These ordinary participants have taken a great interest in philosophy and exposed the fact that they previously “didn’t understand” philosophy. In addition to the passive role of learner/responder, the participants also play the role of “cross-questioner” to transform incomprehensible “packages” into new questions. This questioning approach can be used to diversify the rigid practice of “speaking in philosophy.” By playing the role of philosophical interlocuter, including questioner, responder, and even listener/observer (with their ears and eyes), participants develop through interacting with one another in this social atmosphere. This cooperative relationship and generative growth create mutual attachments with participants from the “outside world” and hence reduce their alienation.

The Role of Second Language Learning in Practical Philosophy Education - How Bilingual Activities Contribute to Philosophy Cafe -

        ( Huiling Wang ),( Rory O’neill ) 한국철학상담치료학회 2020 철학 실천과 상담 Vol.10 No.-

In addition to the classical mode of classroom philosophy education that focuses on the history of philosophical thinking, methods of “doing” and “using” philosophy, including philosophical practice and philosophical drama can also form part of philosophy education. Such thinking and language exercises are introduced into activities of the academic philosophy cafe, Inner Mongolia University’s 1957 Coffee. Based on core activities of the philosophy cafe as well as the concept of “language game”, an additional language training project is being designed for bilingual participants and language learners, especially for students in secondary education. A two-pronged approach of linguistic and philosophical foci encourages learners to sharpen their minds to the use of languages in the academic world.

      • The Training Program and Pedagogics of Academic Philosophy Cafe

( Huiling Wang ) 한국철학상담치료학회 2019 철학 실천과 상담 Vol.9 No.-

Philosophical activities, such as “Shared Thinking”, “Shared Reading” and “Shared Pleasure” have been carried out for more than one year at 1957 Coffee. The thinking and language training programs named Philosophy Cafe are designed to revive the values of informal philosophical consultancy and bring back the historical and theoretical studies of both the Chinese and Western philosophical traditions to apply them today. Based on this platform of philosophical practice, participants can realize and share their joy and suffering, rather than being confused and isolated. Through interaction and sharing, the case studies of philosophical activities can be used to explain the differences among human thinking, language and action, and provide exercises to improve current philosophical education.

Language Training in Activities of Academic Philosophy Cafe

Huiling Wang 강원대학교 인문과학연구소 2019 Journal of Humanities Therapy Vol.10 No.1

Philosophy Cafe is a category of informal philosophical activity, distinct from formal philosophical activities such as Socratic dialogue. As well as performing the regulative functions of philosophical counseling and practical philosophy, Philosophy Cafe thus introduces a new lifestyle. 1957 Coffee is in the campus of Inner Mongolia University and serves in this paper as an example of Philosophy Cafe. 1957 Coffee has identified three streams of activities, namely: “shared thinking” (sixiang 思享), “shared reading” (duxiang 读享) and “shared pleasure” (yingxiang 影享). Each activity involves two of the most basic philosophical studies: thinking and communicating. Taking “shared thinking” as an example, I will present some of the activities that are already carried out and clarify the theoretical grounds on which they are based. While the practical operation of 1957 Coffee is very much in the service of philosophical research and inquiry, it also constructs an exemplary platform for philosophical practice across the campus.

      • Multi-strategy enhanced kernel search optimization and its application in economic emission dispatch problems

        Dong Ruyi,LIUYANAN,Wang Siwen,Heidari Ali Asghar,Wang Mingjing,Chen Yi,Wang Shuihua,Chen Huiling,Zhang Yudong 한국CDE학회 2024 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.11 No.1

The kernel search optimizer (KSO) is a recent metaheuristic optimization algorithm that is based on kernel theory, eliminating the need for hyper-parameter adjustments, and demonstrating excellent global search capabilities. However, the original KSO exhibits insufficient accuracy in local search, and there is a high probability that it may fail to achieve local optimization in complex tasks. Therefore, this paper proposes a multi-strategy enhanced KSO (MSKSO) to enhance the local search ability of the KSO. The MSKSO combines several control strategies, including chaotic initialization, chaotic local search mechanisms, the high-altitude walk strategy (HWS), and the Levy flight (LF), to effectively balance exploration and exploitation. The MSKSO is compared with ten well-known algorithms on 50 benchmark test functions to validate its performance, including single-peak, multi-peak, separable variable, and non-separable variable functions. Additionally, the MSKSO is applied to two real engineering economic emission dispatch (EED) problems in power systems. Experimental results demonstrate that the performance of the MSKSO nearly optimizes that of other well-known algorithms and achieves favorable results on the EED problem. These case studies verify that the MSKSO outperforms other algorithms and can serve as an effective optimization tool.
