      • Fall Detection Algorithm for the Elderly Based on Human Characteristic Matrix and SVM

        WANG Rui-dong,ZHANG Yong-liang,DONG Ling-ping,LU Jia-wei,ZHANG Zhi-qin,HE Xia 제어로봇시스템학회 2015 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2015 No.10

Fall is one of the leading causes of injury and death for the elderly. Real-time fall detection is of great significance for the safety of the elderly. This paper proposes a coarse to fine fall detection algorithm based on Human characteristic matrix and Support Vector Machine (SVM). First, background subtraction and morphological processing are used to obtain more accurately human silhouette. Then, two human characteristic matrices are constructed based on Hu-moment invariant and the information of human body posture extracted from human silhouette and are used as features to train SVM classifier for fall detection. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm can distinguish fall event from other movements such as squat, sitting down and back turning. Compared with other common methods, the proposed method can real-time and efficiently track the video with 18 frames per second.

Heavy concrete shielding properties for carbon therapy

        Jin-Long Wang,Jiade J Lu,Da-Jun Ding,Wen-Hua Jiang,Ya-Dong Li,Rui Qiu,Hui Zhang,Xiao-Zhong Wang,Huo-Sheng Ruan,Yan-Bing Teng,Xiao-Guang Wu,Yun Zheng,Zi-Hao Zhao,Kai-Zhong Liao,Huan-Cheng Mai,Xiao-Dong Korean Nuclear Society 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.6

As medical facilities are usually built at urban areas, special concrete aggregates and evaluation methods are needed to optimize the design of concrete walls by balancing density, thickness, material composition, cost, and other factors. Carbon treatment rooms require a high radiation shielding requirement, as the neutron yield from carbon therapy is much higher than the neutron yield of protons. In this case study, the maximum carbon energy is 430 MeV/u and the maximum current is 0.27 nA from a hybrid particle therapy system. Hospital or facility construction should consider this requirement to design a special heavy concrete. In this work, magnetite is adopted as the major aggregate. Density is determined mainly by the major aggregate content of magnetite, and a heavy concrete test block was constructed for structural tests. The compressive strength is 35.7 MPa. The density ranges from 3.65 g/cm3 to 4.14 g/cm3, and the iron mass content ranges from 53.78% to 60.38% from the 12 cored sample measurements. It was found that there is a linear relationship between density and iron content, and mixing impurities should be the major reason leading to the nonuniform element and density distribution. The effect of this nonuniformity on radiation shielding properties for a carbon treatment room is investigated by three groups of Monte Carlo simulations. Higher density dominates to reduce shielding thickness. However, a higher content of high-Z elements will weaken the shielding strength, especially at a lower dose rate threshold and vice versa. The weakened side effect of a high iron content on the shielding property is obvious at 2.5 µSv=h. Therefore, we should not blindly pursue high Z content in engineering. If the thickness is constrained to 2 m, then the density can be reduced to 3.3 g/cm3, which will save cost by reducing the magnetite composition with 50.44% iron content. If a higher density of 3.9 g/cm3 with 57.65% iron content is selected for construction, then the thickness of the wall can be reduced to 174.2 cm, which will save space for equipment installation.

Stable pH sensitivity of LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interfacial electronic gas

        Dong Yan,Zhang Lunyong,Li Chen,Liu Yanli,Shao Pengfei,Lei Jianming,Wang Rui,Wu Di,Chen Dunjun,Zhang Rong,Zheng Youdou 한국물리학회 2022 Current Applied Physics Vol.34 No.-

Probing pH value is essential for many applications. The request of developing stable and highly sensitive pH sensor with small size are increased recently, this is a challenge to the traditional glass pH sensors. This work investigated the pH sensing performance of the novel two-dimensional electronic gas (2DEG) at the LaAlO3/ SrTiO3 heterostructure interface discovered recently. The experimental results demonstrated that the devices host excellent sensing ability to the pH value of aqueous solutions. Quite stable output current is realized for a given pH value, and the output current is linearly dependent on pH value as required by sensor applications. This work would prompt the application research of LaAlO3/SrTiO3 heterostructure and design of new generation of advanced pH sensors.

Adaptive Neural Tracking Control for Uncertain Switched Nonlinear Non-lower Triangular System with Disturbances and Dead-zone Input

        Rui-Bing Li,Xiao-Mei Wang,Xiao-Mei Liu,Ben Niu,Dong Yang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2020 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.18 No.6

This work investigates the adaptive neural tracking control problem for a class of uncertain switched nonlinear non-lower triangular systems with disturbances and dead-zone input. First, radial basis function (RBF) neural networks (NNs) serve as a flexible tool to approximate the unknown nonlinear functions. Then during the controller design, the dynamic surface control (DSC) method is used to avoid the issue of "explosion of complexity", and only one adaptive law is adopted to reduce the computational burden. What’s more, a few classical mathematical approaches are used to handle the design difficulties caused by dead-zone input, and the proposed controller guarantees the closed-loop system signals are semi-globally uniform ultimate boundedness (SGUUB). Finally, a simulation example is given to illustrate the availability of the proposed control scheme.

      • Application of Human Papillomavirus in Screening for Cervical Cancer and Precancerous Lesions

Wang, Jin-Liang,Yang, Yi-Zhuo,Dong, Wei-Wei,Sun, Jing,Tao, Hai-Tao,Li, Rui-Xin,Hu, Yi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.5

Cervical cancer is a commonly-encountered malignant tumor in women. Cervical screening is particularly important due to early symptoms being deficient in specificity. The main purpose of the study is to assess the application value of cervical thinprep cytologic test (TCT) and human papillomavirus (HPV) detection in screening for cervical cancer and precancerous lesions. In the study, cervical TCT and HPV detection were simultaneously performed on 12,500 patients selected in a gynecological clinic. Three hundred patients with positive results demonstrated by cervical TCT and/or HPV detection underwent cervical tissue biopsy under colposcopy, and pathological results were considered as the gold standard. The results revealed that 200 out of 12,500 patients were abnormal by TCT, in which 30 cases pertained to equivocal atypical squamous cells (ASCUS), 80 cases to low squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL), 70 cases to high squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) and 20 cases to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). With increasing pathological grade of cervical biopsy, however, TCT positive rates did not rise. Two hundred and eighty out of 12,500 patients were detected as positive for HPV infection, in which 50 cases were chronic cervicitis and squamous metaplasia, 70 cases cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) I, 60 cases CIN II, 70 cases CIN III and 30 cases invasive cervical carcinoma. Two hundred and thirty patients with high-risk HPV infection were detected. With increase in pathological grade, the positive rate of high-risk HPV also rose. The detection rates of HPV detection to CIN III and invasive cervical carcinoma as well as the total detection rate of lesions were significantly higher than that of TCT. Hence, HPV detection is a better method for screening of cervical cancer at present.

      • Regulatory Mechanisms of Annexin-Induced Chemotherapy Resistance in Cisplatin Resistant Lung Adenocarcinoma

        Wang, Chao,Xiao, Qian,Li, Yu-Wen,Zhao, Chao,Jia, Na,Li, Rui-Li,Cao, Shan-Shan,Cui, Jia,Wang, Lu,Wu, Yin,Wen, Ai-Dong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.7

Adenocarcinoma of lung has high incidence and a poor prognosis, woith chemotherapy as the main therapeutic tool, most commonly with cisplatin. However, chemotherapy resistance develops in the majority of patients during clinic treatment. Mechanisms of resistance are complex and still unclear. Although annexin play important roles in various tumor resistance mechanisms, their actions in cisplatin-resistant lung adenocarcinoma remain unclear. Preliminary studies by our group found that in cisplatin-resistant lung cancer A549 cells and lung adenocarcinoma tissues, both mRNA and protein expression of annexins A1, A2 and A3 is increased. Using a library of annexin A1, A2 and A3 targeting combined molecules already established by ourselves we found that specific targeting decreased cisplatin-resistance. Taken together, the underlined effects of annexins A1, A2 and A3 on drug resistance and suggest molecular mechanisms in cisplatin-resistant A549 cells both in vivo and in vitro. Furthermore, the study points to improved research on occurrence and development of lung adenocarcinoma, with provision of effective targets and programmes for lung adenocarcinoma therapy in the clinic.

      • Metabolism of α-Actin, Expression of α-Actin mRNA and MHC mRNA Induced by Exhaustive Eccentric Exercise in Skeletal Muscles of Rats and Effects of Acupuncture on Them

Wang, Rui Yuan,Yuan, Yu He,Zhang, Wen Dong,Zhao, Lin,Xun, Chuu Yan 한국체육무용국제교류학회 2001 한국체육무용국제교류학회지 Vol.7 No.-

The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes of α-actin metabolism, α-actin mRNA and MHC mRNA expression in skeletal muscles of rats after one set exhaustive eccentric exercise and the effects of acupuncture on them. 130 adult male SD rats were randomly divided into the sedentary group and the exercise group. The rats of the exercise group were again divided into the acupuncture group and non-acupuncture group. According to the sampling time, the exercise group (the acupuncture and non-acupuncture group) was divided into 12 groups, that is the 0 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours groups. In each group there were ten rats. The rats weighting 205±23.3 (mean±SE) were maintained at 23±1℃. They were fed in different chests taking food and drink freely. The rats of the exercise group carried out continuous downhill running with the speed of 16m/min for about 4 hours until exhaustion on the animal treadmill (degree -16°). The rats of the acupuncture group were treated with acupuncture immediately after exhaustive eccentric exercise, but those of the sedentary group and the non-acupuncture group were treated without acupuncture. They were the control groups. The muscle samples were taken immediately, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours after exercise. The contents of G-actin, F-actin and T-actin in skeletal muscles of rats were measured by means of Dnase I assay. The gene expression of α-actin m RNA and MHC isoforms mRNA were determined by using the quantitative reverse transcription PCR technology. Compared with the sedentary group, there was no remarkable change of T-actin after exercise. The decrease G-actin could be detected only immediately after exercise. The content of F-actin was significantly higher than that of the sedentary group 0~6 hours after exercise, but 12~24 hours after exercise it decreased to a lower level than that of the sedentary group. A delayed increase of F-actin depolymerization presented after exercise. The F-actin value of the acupuncture group was improved in a lower range than that of the non-acupuncture group 0~6 hours after exercise, but 12~24 hours after exercise it was remarkably higher than those of the non-acupuncture group. It was shown that acupuncture could regulate the F-actin concentration in skeletal muscles of rats after exercise. Furthermore, the regulation might be bilateral. Acupuncture could stop the increase of F-actin delayed depolymerization induced by high loading exercise. The gene expression of α-actin mRNA in skeletal muscles of rats decreased significantly after one set exhaustive exercise. The duration of its recovery was longer than 72 hours. It might be that acupuncture accelerated the recovery process of α-actin mRNA expression after exercise. The MHC mRNA expression of the non-acupuncture group was lower than that of the sedentary group 6~12 hours after exercise. There appeared a delayed excess expression of MHC mRNA 48 hours after exercise. The curve of the change of the total MHC mRNA expression in the acupuncture groups was similar to that in the non-acupuncture group. The duration of recovery of the acupuncture group was shorter, the delayed excess expression of MHC mRNA was ahead of time and its range was higher than that of non-acupuncture group. It was shown that acupuncture could promote the recovery of MHC mRNA expression after exercise of high load

        Wang, Ning-Ning,Lan, Yun-Xiang,He, Jie,Dong, Rui,Hu, Jin-Song Korean Chemical Society 2013 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.34 No.9

The layered $KTiNbO_5$ was successfully synthesized with titanium(IV) isopropoxide and niobium oxalate by a novel polymerized complex (PC) method. The morphology and structure of the as-prepared sample was characterized by means of High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope, powder X-ray diffraction, and Laser Raman Spectroscopy. The spectral response characteristic was recorded by using UV-vis Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy. Results show that $KTiNbO_5$ as-prepared by PC method presents an uniform morphology of nano-particles, the mean particle sizes is ca. 28 nm corresponding to the (002), and the crystal structure can be well indexed to the orthorhombic phase. The sample as-prepared by PC method has higher band gap energy than that of the sample prepared by a solid-state reaction method due to the quantum size effect.

Prospective comparison of hybrid capture 2 and SPF10-LiPA for carcinogenic human papillomavirus detection and risk prediction of cervical cancer: a population-based cohort study in China

        Li Dong,Rui-Mei Feng,Li Zhang,Xiao-qian Xu,Xue-Lian Zhao,Margaret Zhuoer Wang,You-Lin Qiao,Fang-Hui Zhao 대한부인종양학회 2017 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.28 No.5

Objective: To investigate the extent of the cross-reactivity of hybrid capture 2 (HC2) assay andevaluate the potential effect of cross-reactivity on the long-term risk for cervical cancer andprecancers. Methods: Based on the Shanxi Province Cervical Cancer Screening Study-I (SPOCCS-I)cohort from 2005 to 2014 in Shanxi, China, SPF10-line probe assay (LiPA) was performedin all 598 HC2 positive and 300 random-selected HC2 negative cervical specimens. Tenyearcumulative incidence rate (CIR) of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 or worse(CIN2+) of these two tests was evaluated using Kaplan-Meier methods. Possible humanpapillomavirus (HPV) types to be cross-reacted by HC2 were also analyzed. Results: The overall agreement between HC2 and SPF10-LiPA for detecting carcinogenic HPVwas 73.27%. The highest 10-year cumulative risk of CIN2+ was observed in both HC2 positiveand LiPA-carcinogenic HPV positive women (25.70%; 95% confidence interval [CI]=23.55%–27.91%), followed by HC2 positive but LiPA-non-carcinogenic HPV positive women (9.97%;95% CI=8.57%–11.50%), HC2 negative but LiPA-carcinogenic HPV positive (2.56%; 95%CI=2.44%–2.70%) and HC2 positive but LiPA-HPV negative (1.85%; 95% CI=1.78%–1.92%)women. The proportion of cross-reactivity of HC2 with untargeted carcinogenic types was8.9%, most of which were attributable to HPV26, 73, 82, 69, 71, 53, 11, 43, and 54. Conclusion: The noticeable high risk of CIN2+ in women infected with cross-reacted noncarcinogenicHPV and low risk in those with miss-to-detective carcinogenic HPV supportedan overall good clinical performance of HC2 for a general cervical cancer screening.
