Fabrication and evaluation of capacitive silicon resonators with piezoresistive heat engines
Van Toan, N.,Van Nha, N.,Song, Y.,Ono, T. Elsevier Sequoia 2017 Sensors and actuators. A, Physical Vol.262 No.-

This work reports the design, fabrication and evaluation of capacitive silicon resonators with piezoresistive heat engines. A combination of capacitive transduction and piezoresistive actuation based on a piezoresistive heat engine in the single micromechanical resonator is proposed to achieve a low insertion loss and small motional resistance. Capacitive silicon resonators with single and multiple piezoresistive beams have been demonstrated. In these structures, resonant bodies are divided into many parts that are connected to each other by using small piezoresistive beams to enhance electromechanical transductions by the piezoresistive heat engines. When a bias voltage V-b = 7 V is applied to the piezoresistive beams, the insertion loss and motional resistance of the capacitive silicon resonator with multiple piezoresistive beams are improved by 20 dB (enhanced from -68 dB to -48 dB) and 90% (reduced from 125.5 k Omega to 12.5 k Omega), respectively, in comparison to the case without a bias voltage. In addition, the tuning frequency characteristic with the piezoresistive effect is increased by 165 times over that of the structure with only the capacitive effect. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V.
ᅟ

We report on the successful preparation of Bi-doped n-type polycrystalline SnSe by hot-press method. We observed anisotropic transport properties due to the (h00) preferred orientation of grains along the pressing direction. The electrical conductivity perpendicular to the pressing direction is higher than that parallel to the pressing direction, 12.85 and 6.46 S cm−1 at 773 K for SnSe:Bi 8% sample, respectively, while thermal conductivity perpendicular to the pressing direction is higher than that parallel to the pressing direction, 0.81 and 0.60 W m−1 K−1 at 773 K for SnSe:Bi 8% sample, respectively. We observed a bipolar conducting mechanism in our samples leading to n- to p-type transition, whose transition temperature increases with Bi concentration. Our work addressed a possibility to dope polycrystalline SnSe by a hot-pressing process, which may be applied to module applications.

Highlights

We have successfully achieved Bi-doped n-type polycrystalline SnSe by the hot-press method.

We observed anisotropic transport properties due to the [h00] preferred orientation of grains along pressing direction.

We observed a bipolar conducting mechanism in our samples leading to n- to p-type transition.

Electronic supplementary material

The online version of this article (10.1186/s11671-018-2500-y) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users.

Le, Van Phan,Song, Sok,An, Byung-Hyun,Park, Gyu-Nam,Pham, Ngoc Thach,Le, Dinh Quyen,Nguyen, Van Tam,Vu, Thi Thu Hang,Kim, Ki-Sun,Choe, SeEun,An, Dong-Jun Springer-Verlag 2018 Archives of virology Vol.163 No.1

Two porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) strains (Binh21 and HaNoi6) were isolated from two pig farms in North Vietnam. Phylogenetic analysis of the complete genomes and the Spike and Membrane genes revealed that the two Vietnam PDCoVs belong to the same lineage as PDCoVs from Thailand and Laos; however, the N genes belonged to the same lineage as PDCoVs from the USA, Korea, China, and Hong Kong. The recombination detection program subsequently identified the major parent (S5011 strain) and minor parent (HKU15-44 strain) of the two Vietnam PDCoV strains (p < 0.01).

Bifidobacterium longum KACC 91563 secretes family 5 extracellular solute-binding protein via extracellular vesicle. In our previous work, it was demonstrated that the protein effectively alleviated food allergy symptoms via mast cell specific apoptosis, and it has revealed a therapeutic potential of this protein in allergy treatment. In the present study, we cloned the gene encoding extracellular solute-binding protein of the strain into the histidine-tagged pET-28a(+) vector and transformed the resulting plasmid into the Escherichia coli strain BL21 (DE3). The histidine-tagged extracellular solute-binding protein expressed in the transformed cells was purified using Ni-NTA affinity column. To enhance the efficiency of the protein purification, three parameters were optimized; the host bacterial strain, the culturing and induction temperature, and the purification protocol. After the process, two liters of transformed culture produced 7.15 mg of the recombinant proteins. This is the first study describing the production of extracellular solute-binding protein of probiotic bacteria. Establishment of large-scale production strategy for the protein will further contribute to the development of functional foods and potential alternative treatments for allergies.
