We have studied(??) reactions from an emulsion target. The S--2H dibaryon has been searched for by the analysis of the ??? momentum spectrum together with emulsion data. No evidence of H production was observed in the mass range of 1.90-2.16 GeV/c². Upper limits for the production cross section of the H are (0.2-0.6)% of that for the quasifree ??? production at the 90% confidence level.

We have studied 80 events of candidates for ??? capture star at rest in nuclear emulsion, where ??? hyperons are produced in (??????) reactions identified by a ?? spectrometer. The weak decay of heavy double hypernuclei is confirmed, studying the distribution of visible energy-release and the probability of emission of two fast protons, in comparison with those for single hypernuclei.

We have studied stars in nuclear emulsion due to the capture at rest of the ??? hyperons produced in the(???) reaction. The sequential weak decay of a double hypernucleus(nucleus with S= -2) has been directly observed. The double hypernucleus is assigned as either ???? or ????. This assignment excludes the existence of the H dibaryon lighter than 2203.7±0.7 MeV/c².

Amino acid (AA) substituted diets had no influence on rumen levels of total volatile fatty acids (VFA), ammonia and ${\alpha}$-amino-N, but tended to increase molar proportions of isovalerate and counts of total viable AA utilizing and celluloytic bacteria in the rumen as compared with the control urea diet. The AA diets did not affect daily flow to the duodenum of dry matter (DM), organic mater (OM) and acid detergent fibre (ADF), and rumen digestibility of these nutrients. However, the AA diets, in particular the 10 essential AA (EAA) diet improved total digestibility of DM, OM and ADF by decreasing faecal output of these fractions. Although N flow to the duodenum and N retention were not affected with the dietary treatments, duodenal bacterial flow appeared to increase by the AA diets when it was estimated by means of 2,6-diaminopimelic acid (DAP) and nucleic acid-purine bases (PB) as markers. The results suggest that AA supplements to a urea diet could improve feed utilization by stimulating microbial activity and proliferation in the rumen but and increased microbial activity per se is not necessarily associated with improvement of feed conversion.
Structural control of organic conductors by uniaxial strain: θ- and α-phases of BEDT-TTF compounds

The crystalline and electronic structures of thea-phase BEDT-TTF organic superconductors were controlled by the uniaxiala-axiswhile thec-axis compression reduced the bandwidth. Similar controls were possible also in theh-phase compounds. Thea-axiscompression made the material metallic although thec-axis one insulating. It is possible to systematically explain these changes inelectronic properties under the uniaxial compression in terms of the changes in the electronic band structure in the conducting layer.. 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Using the uniaxial strain method, the lattice parameters and the atomic positions of the quasi-two-dimensional organic con-ductor θ-(BEDT-TTF)2CsZn(SCN)4 were measured at room temperature with piston pressures up to 10 kbar applied parallel to thec-axis in the conducting plane. The lattice parameterc was predominantlyreduced with increasing the piston pressure although asmall Poisson’s eect occurred in the parametera. Band calculation showed that the transfer integrals under the uniaxial com-pression bythe piston pressure of 10 kbar became similar to those ofh-(BEDT-TTF)2 RbZn(SCN)4. This result is consistent withthat of transport measurements reported alreadyand suggests that a charge disproportionation, which has been observed in theRbZn-compound, occurs also in the present compound under the uniaxial compressive strain.
