Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate oncologic outcomes of total abdominal radical hysterectomy (TARH), total laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (TLRH) and laparoscopic-assisted radical vaginal hysterectomy (LARVH) in early cervical cancer patients (stage IB2-3, tumor size≥2cm), analyzing the risk factors that may affect the clinical results. Methods: A total of 756 patients underwent radical hysterectomy between 2000 and 2019 from three university hospitals (Pusan National University Hospital, Yang-san Pusan National University Hospital, Ulsan University Hospital) were enrolled. Among them, 172 patients with stage IB2-3 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Seventy-seven patients were treated with TARH, and 95 were managed via minimally invasive surgery (MIS), consisting of 35 with TLRH and 60 with LARVH. TARH group had better disease five-year disease free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) compared with MIS group (86.4% vs. 73.4 for DFS and 91.7 vs. 82.2 for OS), but not statistically significant in both (p=0.058 for DFS and p=0.119 for OS). When TARH and the LARVH group were compared, both five-year DFS and OS were not significant different (86.4 vs 82.2%; p=0.288 for DFS and 91.7 vs 84.4%; p=0.206 for OS). However, when TARH and the TLRH group were compared, TLRH group had significantly worse five-year DFS than TARH (86.4 vs 54.5%; p=0.008), but five-year OS was not significant different (91.7 vs 77.5%; p=0.127). Multivariate analysis showed that LN metastasis and TLRH surgical approaches were an independent prognostic factor for DFS in IB2-3 cervical cancers. Conclusion: Our findings provided the evidence that TLRH surgical approach was associated with worse DFS in IB2-3 cervical cancers but that of LARVH was not. Such results may have important implications of colpotomy method for MIS in cervical cancer.

<P>Background: Monensin is a carboxyl polyether ionophore that potently inhibits the growth of various cancer cells. Recently, the anticancer effects of monensin have been recognized based on its ability to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. However, anticancer effect of monensin and its mechanism of action have yet to be investigated, especially against human prostate cancer cells. Materials and Methods: Cell viability assay, western blot, cell-cycle arrest, annexin V/propidium iodide assay, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and intracellular Ca2+ flux were assayed. Results: In this study, monensin significantly inhibited cell viability in a dose-dependent manner in prostate cell lines. Moreover, cell growth inhibition by monensin induced G(1) phase cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis via regulation of cell cycle-and apoptosis-related proteins in PC-3 cells. In addition, monensin induced the production of ROS and the disruption of Ca2+ homeostasis, that was restored by diphenyleneiodonium, a mitochondrial ROS inhibitor and verapamil, a Ca2+ channel blocker, respectively, as confirmed by pro-caspase-3 activation and poly ADP ribose polymerase cleavage. Conclusion: Monensin induces cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis through regulation of cell cycle-and apoptosis-related proteins, resulting in induction of mitochondrial ROS-and Ca2+-dependent apoptosis, respectively.</P>

BBME와 DD를 통합한 움직이는 카메라로부터의 이동물체 추적 시스템

본 논문에서는 움직이는 카메라로부터 획득한 연속영상에서 이동물체를 자동으로 검출하고 추적하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 크게 이동물체 검출과 추적과정으로 나뉘어진다. 이동물체는 BBME(block-based motion estimation)와 DD(double difference)를 통합한 방법을 이용하여 검출된다. 검출된 이동물체는 히스토그램 백 프로젝션을 통하여 분할되며, 히스토그램 인터섹션과 XY-프로젝션을 사용하여 대상물체를 정합하고 추적된다. 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 제안된 방법이 움직이는 카메라로부터 획득된 영상에서 이동물체를 검출하고 큰 오차 없이 추적함을 보였다. In this paper, we propose a system for automatic moving object detection and tracking in sequence images acquired from a moving camera. The proposed algorithm consists of moving object detection and its tracking. Moving object can be detected by integration of BBME and DD method. We segment the detected object using histogram back projection, match it using histogram intersection, extract and track it using XY-projection. Computer simulation results have shown that the proposed algorithm is reliable and can successfully detect and track a moving object on image sequences obtained by a moving camera.

<P>A driving method of pixel circuit using amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide (a-IGZO) thin-film transistor (TFT) is proposed to improve the image quality of active matrix light-emitting diode displays. The proposed pixel circuit employs a diode-connected structure to compensate for variation in threshold voltage (V-th) of the a-IGZO TFT. In addition, the proposed driving method adopts negative bias annealing to suppress the V-th shift. The annealing time is optimized based on the experimental observation of the minimum V-th shift. After a stress time of 30 000 s, the measurement results showthat the (Vth) shift is reducedby 29.6%, using an optimized annealing time of 5% of one frame time. In addition, the maximum deviation in the emission current using the proposed driving method wasmeasured to be less than 4.32% after a stress time of 30 000 s.</P>

Oxaliplatin with 5-fluorouracil plus leucovorin (FOLFOX) has become the standard treatment in patients with colorectal cancer. Among known toxicities induced by oxaliplatin, hematological, gastrointestinal and neurological toxicities are common. However, acute pulmonary toxicity associated with oxaliplatin is unusual. One case of interstitial lung disease associated with the FOLFOX protocol is reported here. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2010;55: 340-343)
