The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) complex consists of an H- linear accelerator, a rapid cycling synchrotron accelerating the beam to 1.6 GeV, a solid tungsten target station and instruments for spallation neutron applications. The facility operates at a 25-Hz repetition rate with an initial design beam power of 120 kW and is upgradeable to 500 kW. The primary challenge is to build a robust and reliable user-friendly facility with upgrade potential at a fraction of the \world standard" cost. Success of the project relies on the results of prototyping research & development (R&D) of key technical systems and components. This paper discusses the prototyping experiences of the past two and a half years. In the present study, we characterized the function of HS1-binding protein 3 (HS1BP3), which is mutated in essential tremor and may be involved in lymphocyte activation. We found that HS1BP3 localized to the mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum partially. Overexpression of HS1BP3 induced apoptosis in HEK293T and HeLa cell lines. When these cell lines were transfected with HS1BP3, they exhibited nuclear DNA condensation, externalization of phosphatidylserine (PS), and cleavage of poly ADP ribose polymerase (PARP). Furthermore, suppression of HS1BP3 or HS1 expression attenuates HS1BP3 induced apoptosis. In addition, HS1BP3 enhanced activator protein 1 (AP-1)-mediated transcription in a dose-dependent manner. Therefore, we conclude that HS1BP3 regulates apoptosis via HS1 and stimulates AP-1-mediated transcription. [BMB reports 2011; 44(6): 381-386]

MnOx–CuOx/TiO2 and MnOx–CuOx/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by sol–gel method and used for low temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH3. The results showed that MnOx–CuOx/TiO2 had better catalytic activity and SO2 resistance than MnOx–CuOx/Al2O3 in the temperature range of 100–250 ℃. The properties of the catalysts were characterized by using XRD, N2 adsorption, temperature programmed reduction (H2-TPR) and temperature programmed desorption (NH3-TPD). It was found that the support has a great impact on the acidity of catalyst; TiO2 and Al2O3 can promote the formation of Lewis acid sites and Bro¨ nsted acid sites respectively.

Their structures were elucidated mainly on the basisof 1D and 2D spectroscopic methods and circular dichroismanalysis. In addition, compounds 1–10 and 13 weretested for their inhibitory effects against LPS-induced NOproduction in RAW264.7 macrophages. Compounds 2, 6, 8and 9 exhibited significant inhibitory activities with IC50values in the range of 0.6–6.6 lM.
A Cluster-Based Countermeasure against MAC Layer Attacks in IEEE 802.11 MANETs
Shi, Fei,Liu, Wei Jie,Jin, Dong Xu,Song, Joo Seok Trans Tech Publications, Ltd. 2013 Applied mechanics and materials Vol.284 No.-
<P>MANETs become a considerable interest nowadays. However, these types of networks are vulnerable to a large group of attacks, e.g., MAC layer attacks. Most of the previous researches related to security issues focus on detection of misbehaviors after it occurred. We propose a new way of thinking to evade occurrence of misbehaviors. A novel clustering algorithm is presented using analytic hierarchy process to elect clusterhead. Afterwards, the clusterhead is required to assign backoff values to originators in its transmission range, which are also the members in the corresponding cluster, rather than permitting the originators to choose backoff values. Meanwhile, the elected clusterhead also monitors whether originators obey the backoff values. With the proposed scheme, the misuse of the backoff in MAC layer in 802.11 DCF can be prevented.</P>

Chinese Patients with Gastric Cancer Need Targeted Adjuvant Chemotherapy Schemes
Shi, Wen-Tao,Wei, Lei,Xiang, Jin,Su, Ke,Ding, Qiong,Tang, Meng-Jie,Li, Ji-Qiang,Guo, Yi,Wang, Pu,Zhang, Jing-Wei Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.10
Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common cancers in China. Adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) is a routine auxiliary treatment for GC recommended by the guidelines issued in 2011 by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China, but the relevant credible consequences in China have been insufficient because of China's late start and ethical concerns. Methods: A series of databases, including Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Chinese database of the National Knowledge Infrastructure and the VIP database, were searched by 2 reviewers independently for studies investigating AC for GC through March 2012. The retrieved literature was screened according to the eligibility criteria. Results: A total of 35 randomized control trials (RCTs) were subjected to the final analysis, including 4,043 patients in treatment group and 3,884 in the control group, as well as 4 clinical-control trials (CCTs), which accessed the final analysis with 238 and 252 patients, respectively. AC reduced the risk of death as a protective treatment with statistical significance (HR=0.91, 95%CI: [0.85, 0.97], P=0.002), and it seemed more effective for Asian than non-Asian patients. The effects of AC were not influenced by the starting time (P>0.05). D2 lymphadenectomy-based chemotherapy was effective (HR=0.89, 95%CI: [0.80, 0.99], P=0.04). Oral S-1 40 mg/m2 after D2 lymphadenectomy might be a better choice for Asians with advanced GC and might result in a greater reduction of adverse events than in non-Asian patients. GRADE quality assessment determined that the strength of the evidence from foreign studies from Europe, the United States and Asian countries other than China was high, while it was moderate for Chinese studies. Conclusion: AC was effective or even curative in Chinese patients in general, although it is still necessary to optimize a targeted AC scheme for Chinese patients with GC.

Guo, Wei,Li, Guo-Jun,Xu, Hong-Bo,Xie, Jie-Shi,Shi, Tai-Ping,Zhang, Sheng-Zhong,Chen, Xiao-Hong,Huang, Zhi-Gang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.8
Background: Novel prognostic biomarkers or therapeutic molecular targets for laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) are an urgent priority. We here sought to identify multiple novel LSCC-associated genes. Methods: Using high-density microarray expression profiling, we identified multiple genes that were significantly altered between human LSCCs and paired normal tissues. Potential oncogenic functions of one such gene, DCUN1D5, were further characterized in vitro. Results: Our results demonstrated that DCUN1D5 was highly expressed in LSCCs. Overexpression of DCUN1D5 in vitro resulted in 2.7-fold increased cellular migration, 67.5% increased invasive capacity, and 2.6-fold increased proliferation. Endogenous DCUN1D5 expression was decreased in a time-dependent manner after genotoxic stress, and silencing of DCUN1D5 by siRNA decreased the number of cells in the S phase by 10.2% and increased apoptosis by 11.7%. Conclusion: Our data suggest that DCUN1D5 in vitro might have vital roles in DNA damage response, but further studies are warranted to assess its significance in vivo.

( Yu Jie Dai ),( Jing Li ),( Shu Mei Wei ),( Nan Chen ),( Yu Peng Xiao ),( Zhi Lei Tan ),( Shi Ru Jia ),( Nan Nan Yuan ),( Ning Tan ),( Yi Jie Song ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2013 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.23 No.4
The effects of lights with different wavelengths on the growth and the yield of extracellular polysaccharides of Nostoc flagelliforme cells were investigated in a liquid cultivation. N. flagelliforme cells were cultured for 16 days in 500 ml conical flasks containing BG11 culture medium under 27 μmol·m-2·s-1 of light intensity and 25oC on a rotary shaker (140 rpm). The chlorophyll a, phycocyanin, allophycocyanin, and phycoerythrin contents in N. flagelliforme cells under the lights of different wavelengths were also measured. It was found that the cell biomass and the yield of polysaccharide changed with different wavelengths of light. The biomass and the yield of extracellular polysaccharides under the red or violet light were higher than those under other light colors. Chlorophyll a, phycocyanin, and allophycocyanin are the main pigments in N. flagelliforme cells. The results showed that N. flagelliforme, like other cyanobacteria, has the ability of adjusting the contents and relative ratio of its pigments with the light quality. As a conclusion, N. flagelliforme cells favor red and violet lights and perform the complementary chromatic adaptation ability to acclimate to the changes of the light quality in the environment.

Tool condition is the key factor affecting the quality and efficiency of precision cutting of parts. As tool wear is inevitable during machining, tool wear status during machining must be regularly monitored. This study proposes a combined convolutional neural network and support vector machine (SVM) approach for tool wear status monitoring. First, 1D cutting force data are wavelet-transformed and converted into 2D spectrogram. Second, the leakyReLU activation function is adopted to enhance network robustness. Third, an SVM classifier is used to replace the traditional Softmax function to improve the model generalization capability. Finally, the cutting force signal of the tool used for the machining of the aero-engine integral blisk is verified. The accuracy of the constructed network model can reach 98.28 %. Moreover, the proposed model has a simple structure, requires a small number of parameters, and has good robustness and reliability.
