      • Research on China's Steel Demand Using Combined Forecast

        This research conducts an error analysis between the forecasting value and the actual value of steel demand of 2010 in China, which is based on the analysis of forecasting methods and their results of Chinese steel demand in the existing studies, and then forecasts China’s steel demand in 2015 by making use of a combined forecasting method. The combined forecasting method includes two stages. In the first stage, with reference to actual steel demand of China in 2010, a threshold is set and some forecasting results are selected according to the error between the forecasting value and actual value of steel demand of each method. In the second stage, weights of corresponding selected methods are determined which are based on the error. And the final demand of China’s steel in 2015 is forecasted through the combined forecasting method.

      • An Efficient Response Distribution Function for 3D MIMO Channel Modeling from a Scatterer View

        A Radio Environment Map (REM) maps its geolocation information to the propagation characteristics as complementary information for an adaptive communication of cognitive radio (CR). In this paper we propose a novel theoretical three dimension (3D) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) channel model. The proposed model parameterizes the geolocation information of interacting obstacles referred as scatterers. An efficient response distribution function (ERDF) is developed to interpolate the array response for an arbitrary scatterer location. It is shown that the mutual information of the proposed model is consistent with a conventional geometry-based model with the lower simulation time. It allows us to generate channels with all possible scatterer distribution on the surface of a building effectively.

      • Relationship Between the Prohibitin 3' Untranslated Region C > T Gene Polymorphism and Cancer Susceptibility - Results of a Meta-analysis

        Objective: The results from the published studies on the association between prohibitin 3' untranslated region C > T gene polymorphism and cancer risk are conflicting. This meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship with cancer susceptibility overall, and to explore whether the T allele or TT genotype could become a predictive marker for cancer risk. Methods: Association studies were identified from the databases of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library as of March 1, 2012, and eligible investigations were synthesized using the meta-analysis method. Results were expressed with odds ratios (OR) for dichotomous data, and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were also calculated. Results: Six investigations were identified for the analysis of association between the prohibitin 3' untranslated region C > T gene polymorphism and cancer risk, covering of 1,461 patients with cancer and 1,197 controls. There was a positive association between the T allele and cancer susceptibility (OR=1.20, 95% CI: 1.03-1.39, P=0.02), and CC homozygous might play a protective role (OR=0.80, 95% CI: 0.68-6.11, P=0.95). In the sub-group analysis, prohibitin 3' untranslated region C > T gene polymorphism and cancer risk appeared associated with the risk of breast cancer, but not ovarian cancer. Conclusions: Our results indicate that T allele is a significant genetic molecular marker to predict cancer susceptibility and CC genotype is protective, especially for breast cancer. However, more investigations are required to further clarify the association of the prohibitin 3' untranslated region C > T gene polymorphism with cancer susceptibility.

        Effect of Bacillus subtilis Natto on Meat Quality and Skatole Content in TOPIGS Pigs

        This study investigated the effect of Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis) natto on meat quality and skatole in TOPIGS pigs. Sixty TOPIGS pigs were randomly assigned to 3 groups (including 5 pens per group, with 4 pigs in each pen) and fed with basic diet (control group), basic diet plus 0.1% B. subtilis natto (B group), and basic diet plus 0.1% B. subtilis natto plus 0.1% B. coagulans (BB group), respectively. All pigs were sacrificed at 100 kg. Growth performance, meat quality, serum parameters and oxidation status in the three groups were assessed and compared. Most parameters regarding growth performance and meat quality were not significantly different among the three groups. However, compared with the control group, meat $pH_{24}$, fat and feces skatole and the content of Escherichia coli (E. Coli), Clostridium, $NH_3$-N were significantly reduced in the B and BB groups, while serum total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, the levels of liver P450, CYP2A6, and CYP2E1, total antioxidant capability (T-AOC) and glutathione peroxidase and Lactobacilli in feces were significantly increased in the B and BB groups. Further, the combined supplementation of B. subtilis natto and B. coagulans showed more significant effects on the parameters above compared with B. subtilis, and Clostridium, and $NH_3$-N. Our results indicate that the supplementation of pig feed with B. subtilis natto significantly improves meat quality and flavor, while its combination with B. coagulans enhanced these effects.

        Prediction Model for unfavorable Outcome in Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage Based on Machine Learning

        Objective : The spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) remains a significant cause of mortality and morbidity throughout the world. The purpose of this retrospective study is to develop multiple models for predicting ICH outcomes using machine learning (ML). Methods : Between January 2014 and October 2021, we included ICH patients identified by computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging and treated with surgery. At the 6-month check-up, outcomes were assessed using the modified Rankin Scale. In this study, four ML models, including Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree C5.0, Artificial Neural Network, Logistic Regression were used to build ICH prediction models. In order to evaluate the reliability and the ML models, we calculated the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR). Results : We identified 71 patients who had favorable outcomes and 156 who had unfavorable outcomes. The results showed that the SVM model achieved the best comprehensive prediction efficiency. For the SVM model, the AUC, accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, PLR, NLR, and DOR were 0.91, 0.92, 0.92, 0.93, 11.63, 0.076, and 153.03, respectively. For the SVM model, we found the importance value of time to operating room (TOR) was higher significantly than other variables. Conclusion : The analysis of clinical reliability showed that the SVM model achieved the best comprehensive prediction efficiency and the importance value of TOR was higher significantly than other variables.

      • Toll-like Receptor 5 Agonist Inhibition of Growth of A549 Lung Cancer Cells in Vivo in a Myd88 Dependent Manner

        The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a Toll-like receptor 5 (TLR5) agonist, CBLB502, on the growth and radiosensitivity of A549 lung cancer cells in vivo. Expression of myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) or TLR5 was stably knocked down in human lung cancer cells (A549) using lentivirus expressing short hairpin RNA targeting human MyD88 or TLR5. Lack of MyD88 or TLR5 expression enhanced tumor growth in mouse xenografts of A549 lung cancer cells. CBLB502 inhibited the growth of A549 lung cancer cells, not A549-MyD88-KD cells in vivo in the murine xenograft model. Our results showed that the inhibition of A549 by CBLB502 in vivo was realized through regulating the expression of neutrophil recruiting cytokines and neutrophil infiltration. Finally, we found that activation of TLR5 signaling did not affect the radiosensitivity of tumors in vivo.

      • Structural and chemical synergistic effect of CoS nanoparticles and porous carbon nanorods for high-performance sodium storage

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Considering inherent large structural deterioration of conversion-type anode materials during repeated sodiation/desodiation process, the ingenious integration of both nanostructure engineering and chemical hybridization is highly desirable and challenging. Here, ultrafine CoS nanoparticles embedded in porous carbon nanorods (denoted as 7-CoS/C) were facilely fabricated via simultaneous in-situ carbonization and sulfidation of Co-metal organic frameworks (Co-MOF) and have been applied as anode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Benefiting from the advantageous embedding architecture between the nanoparticles and porous nanorods, the 7-CoS/C delivers long-term cycling stability (542mAhg<SUP>−1</SUP> after 2000 cycles with a capacity retention of 91.4% at 1Ag<SUP>−1</SUP>) and excellent rate performance (discharge capacities of 510mAhg<SUP>−1</SUP> at 5Ag<SUP>−1</SUP> and 356mAhg<SUP>−1</SUP> even at 40Ag<SUP>−1</SUP>), which is proved to be characterized of partial pseudocapacitive behaviors during the sodiation/desodiation process. In addition, Na<SUB>3</SUB>V<SUB>2</SUB>(PO<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB>/7-CoS/C full cell with excessive amount of Na<SUB>3</SUB>V<SUB>2</SUB>(PO<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB> has been assembled and exhibits a capacity of 352mAhg<SUP>−1</SUP> at 0.5Ag<SUP>−1</SUP>.         Comparative genomic analysis of Mycoplasma anatis strains

        Background The Gram-negative intracellular bacterium Mycoplasma anatis is a pathogen of respiratory infectious diseases in ducks and has caused signifcant economic losses in the poultry industry. Objective This study, as the frst report of the structure and function of the pan-genome of Mycoplasma anatis, may provide a valuable genetic basis for many aspects of future research on the pathogens of waterfowl. Methods We sequenced the whole genomes of 15 Mycoplasma anatis isolated from ducks in China. Draft genome sequencing was carried out and whole-genome sequencing was performed by the sequencers of the PacBio Sequel and an IonTorrent Personal Genome Machine (PGM). Then the common genic elements of protein-coding genes, tRNAs, and rRNAs of Mycoplasma anatis genomes were predicted by using the pipeline Prokka v1.13.7. To investigate homologous protein clusters across Mycoplasma anatis genomes, we adopted Roary v3.13.0 to cluster orthologous genes (OGs) based on the following criteria. Results We obtained one complete genome and 14 genome sketches. Microbial mobile genetic element analysis revealed the distribution of insertion sequences (IS30, IS3, and IS1634), prophage regions, and CRISPR arrays in the genome of Mycoplasma anatis. Comparative genomic analysis decoded the genetic components and functional classifcation of the pan-genome of Mycoplasma anatis that comprised 646 core genes, 231 dispensable genes and among them 110 was strainspecifc. Virulence-related gene profles of Mycoplasma anatis were systematically identifed, and the products of these genes included bacterial ABC transporter systems, iron transport proteins, toxins, and secretion systems. Conclusion A complete virulence-related gene profle of Mycoplasma anatis has been identifed, most of the genes are highly conserved in all strains. Sequencing results are relevant to the molecular mechanisms of drug resistance, adaptive evolution of pathogens, population structure, and vaccine development.

        3-D Hydrogen-Bonded Frameworks of Two Metal Complexes with Chelidamic Acid: Syntheses, Structures and Magnetism

        Complexes M($C_7H_2NO_5)3H_2O{\cdot}H_2O{\cdot}0.25MeCN$ (M=Ni, Co) were crystallized from the reactions of $Ni(CH_3COO)_2{\cdot}4H_2O\;or\;Co(CH_3COO)_2{\cdot}2H_2O$ with KSCN and 2,6-dicarboxy-4-hydroxypyridine (chelidamic acid). The structures were characterized by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 show a distorted octahedral coordination geometry around the M(II) ions, which are chelated by one nitrogen atom and two oxygen atoms of the chelidamic acid and three water molecules. Complexes 1 and 2 display the hydrogen-bonded 3D framework. The magnetic behavior of 2 exhibits antiferromagnetic interaction.
