Objective: The purpose of this research is to identify whether or not 3D Touch is conflicted with long press when 6 different levels of threshold pressures are applied, to explore the reasons. Background: Though problems arising when applying both 3D Touch and Long press on smartphone are predictable, related researches were limited. We investigated the difference between the manners when users are pressing for 3D Touch and when users are pressing for Long press to understand the reasons for this problem. Method: Total 30 smartphone users participated in this research. All participants tested 3D Touch and Long press interaction using iPhone 6s Plus. A software recorded the maximum pressure, time to reach the maximum pressure and error rates. Results: The result was shown that the time to reach the maximum pressure is increased as threshold pressure is increased in 3D Touch interaction. In the analysis of error rate, it was shown that error rate is increased for 3D touch and it is decreased for Long press as threshold pressure is increased. In the additional analysis, it was shown that 3D touch is failed because user did not press up to threshold pressure for 3D touch and Long press is failed because user pressed over the threshold pressure for 3D touch within threshold time(800msec) for Long press. Conclusion: Optimal threshold pressure has to be found for usability because error rate of both 3D touch and Long press is highly depends on threshold pressure for 3D Touch. Application: This result is expected to be applied for further research that identifying both optimal threshold pressure and user friendly threshold pressure.
A Prototype of Adaptive Power-Aware Scheduler for Real-Time Virtual Machines

As computing performance is grown, reducing power consumption has become an important issue that affects management cost and contributes to an eco-friendly computing. However, in practice, few studies have been proposed about implementation of power-aware scheduler for real-time systems. In this paper, we provide an adaptive power-aware scheduler for real-time virtual machine in compliance with variation of current running tasks. We propose two scheduling algorithms for reducing power consumption based on dynamic frequency control. In addition, we provide an architecture with the proposed schedulers. Based on the provided architecture, we implement a power-aware system on RT-Xen hypervisor to provide real-time resource and Litmus-RT to guarantee the working real-time tasks. The proposed system includes how to control dynamic frequency based on given real-time resource demand, how to transmit real-time resource demand to hypervisor and how to manage the execution time per each task. Throughout the experimental results, we analyze performance evaluation in various aspects.
Examining quality factors of user preference on Mobile VR

Objective: 본 연구의 목표는 가상현실을 경험한 사용자의 경험 만족도에 영향을 주는 요인(Quality Factor)들을 탐색적 방법을 통해 확인하는 것이었다. Background: 최근 가상현실에 대한 사용자들의 관심이 증가하고 있는 상황에서 대부분의 연구들은 가상현실 장비의 성능 향상, 활용 방안에만 관심을 가지고 있을 뿐, 사용자 관점에서 가상현실의 경험 만족도에 영향을 주는 Quality Factor들이 무엇이며, 어떻게 영향을 주는지에 대한 연구가 부족하다. Method: 본 연구에서는 30명의 가상현실 장비 구매자와 구매 예정자가 함께 연구에 참여하였다. 실험 참여자들은 3대의 Mobile 기기(LG 360 VR, 폭풍마경(暴风魔镜) 3 Plus, Samsung Gear VR)를 이용하여 가상현실을 15분씩 체험한 후, 설문에 응답하였다. Results: 가상현실의 경험 만족도에 영향을 주는 요인은 총 4개 였다: 피로/착용감, 조작감, 현실감, 몰입감. 이 중 피로/착용감이 경험 만족도에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. Conclusion: 사용자들의 경험 수준이 다양하지 않은 현 시점에서는 사용자들에게 피로감 혹은 착용 중 불편감을 줄 수 있는 요인을 해결하는 것이 가장 중요하다. Application: 본 연구는 제한적이지만 앞으로 가상현실이 관심을 기울여야 할 부분이 어디인지 예측해 볼 수 있는 기회를 제공했다는 점에서 의의를 찾아 볼 수 있다.
