      • Reminiscence of Mahatma Gandhi in Korea on his 150th Birth Anniversary

Santosh Kumar Ranjan 강원한국학연구원 2021 국제한국학저널 Vol.10-11 No.-

Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore were the two major leaders of modern India in political, and cultural spheres respectively who ignited sparks in the bilateral relationship between India and Korea during the early decades of 20th century. The year 2019 marked the 150th birth anniversary of M.K. Gandhi. On the commemoration of his 150th birth anniversary, this paper is an attempt to trace the legacy of Indian political leader M. K. Gandhi in Korea. The primary source of this paper is from the published articles of the colonial era newspapers and autobiographies; supported by the other sources available in English and Korean languages as the secondary sources. According to research, Gandhi was highly respected in the Korean peninsula for his non-violent method of fighting for independence. Gandhi’s internationalist characteristics, his ideas for the world and the works on him in Korean language pave a new wave of inspiration to the Korean nationalist leaders and the Korean society. It is important to highlight the fine imprints of similarities and a common way of democratic appeal that prevailed in many situations in Korea during those days. Koreans resonated well with the ideologies of many of the moderates and freedom fighters of India. Perhaps, this is the great foundation which today in many shapes unfolds the great friendly relationship between India and Korea. This paper is the representation of my heartfelt tributes to the martyrs of Korea’s “March First Movement” of 1919 as well as to the Korean Provisional government on its centenary jubilee, and Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary.

Undescended cecum with accessory right colic artery: a rare case report

        Praveen Kumar Ravi,Manisha Rajanand Gaikwad,Pravash Ranjan Mishra,Naina Santosh Wakode,Prabhas Ranjan Tripathy,E. Tripati Patro,Babita Kujur,Santosh Laxman Wakode 대한해부학회 2017 Anatomy & Cell Biology Vol.50 No.3

Midgut malrotation and incomplete rotation are common causes of neonatal intestinal obstruction. At end of 10 week of intrauterine life, cecum will be placed in subhepatic region temporarily and descends to right lower quadrant by eleventh week. Arrest of cecum in subhepatic region or undescended cecum is a rare congenital anomaly of mid gut. Usually, it remains asymptomatic and is diagnosed incidentally. If any pathology occurs in anomalous part, like appendicitis then the diagnosis and treatment will be challenging in all age groups. Variation in blood supply have also been reported with anomalies leading to iatrogenic injuries during colonoscopy and surgeries. Lack of knowledge of these rare variations may lead to delayed diagnosis of appendicitis leading to perforation and surgical emergencies. In the present case, we describe an undescended cecum and its associated variation in branching pattern of superior mesenteric artery.

War comes with mass destruction of people, families, societies and countries. It affects infrastructure and economy of the country, and even art, culture and literature of that very country. Korean War was the major devastating event in the Asian region which pitted communist and capitalist forces against each other, where big powers like the U.S.A. and U.S.S.R were involved. Korea and India has historical linkage since ancient time when Buddhism had played important role for cultural ties. Both countries have faced colonial exploitation and freedom struggle for independence. Bilateral relations between India and Korea continued since centuries ago and in modern times both countries strengthened relations through various mechanism. In Post World War II, both countries had a lot in common. The end of World War II liberated both countries from the Colonial rule. It is wonderful fact that both countries won their independence from colonial rule on the 15th day of August. After independence from colonial rule, both countries were divided into two nations. Pakistan was formed from India while Korea was divided into South Korea and North Korea. In this context, both countries have similar experienced for freedom struggle and division of nation. India played a critical and decisive role in Korean War and peace restoration aftermath of the war. Various authors have been writing about India- Korea cultural and historical linkages. Among these Bhagwat Sharan Upadhay is unique name. Among various writings of Bhagwat Sharan Upadhyay"s two travelogues are famous – “Wo Dunia” and “Kolkata se Peking”. It is written during Korean war. It narrates the reason or cause of war and chronology of the war. However, it does not exhibit the historical changes after the war, but this paper also tries to trace and analyse the aftermath of the war. Bhagwat Sharan Upadhyay"s writings draws the picture of the role of big powers, army personnel, peace makers and his family member"s emotive and expositive behavior.

Punica Granatum Fibers as Potential Reinforcement of Composite Structures

        Divya Zindani,Santosh Kumar,Saikat Ranjan Maity,Sumit Bhowmik 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.7

In the present work, punica granatum (Punica granatum L) straw discarded from the punica granatum cultivationhas been explored for potential reinforcement to form green polymeric composites. To adjust the lignin content, the punicagranatum straw fibers (PGF) were dissolved in an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate (10 %w/w) for different duration(1 day, 5 days and 10 days) at room temperature. The statistical parmeter associated with the fiber morphology wasdetermined for different fiber conditions. The relationship between tensile properties and fiber transverse dimensions wasinvestigated through mathematical model. Moreover, the bio-epoxy composites reinforced with punica granatum straw fiberswere fabricated and characterized for static mechanical properties. The optimal composite composition was determined usingTOmada de Decisao Interativa Multicriterio (TODIM) methodology. PGF-5D reinforced green composite with 30 wt% fiberloading was identified as the optimal composition. Finally, micromechanics evaluation was carried out to quantify the criticalparameters playing a major role in controlling the structural-property relationships of the fabricated composites.

Molecular heterogeneity of plpE gene in Indian isolates of Pasteurella multocida and expression of recombinant PlpE in vaccine strain of P. multocida serotype B: 2

        Ajay Pratap Singh,Satparkash Singh,Santosh Kumar Gupta,Vijendra Pal Singh,Bhaskar Sharma,Rajeev Ranjan 대한수의학회 2010 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.11 No.3

Outer membrane proteins of Pasteurella (P.) multocida have been known to be protective immunogens. Pasteurella lipoprotein E (PlpE) has been reported to be an important cross reactive outer membrane protein in P. multocida. The gene encoding the PlpE of P. multocida serotypes A: 3, B: 2and D: 1 was amplified from the genomic DNA. The amplified products were cloned and the nucleotide sequence was determined. Sequence analysis of the recombinant clones revealed a single open reading frame of 1,011 bp, 1,008 bp and 1,017 bp encoding a protein with a calculated molecular mass of 37.829 kDa, 37.389 kDa and 37.965 kDa for serotypes A:3, B: 2 and D: 1 respectively. The comparison of the plpE sequence in different capsular types revealed a high degree (>90%) of homology. Furthermore, the plpE gene of Haemorhhagic septicaemia causing serotype (B: 2) was expressed in E. coli and recombinant PlpE was strongly immunostained by antiserum against whole cell antigen, indicating that the protein is expressed in vivo.
