        An approach to MgCl2 activation on CdSe thin films for solar cells

        The energy demand of the world is rapidly increasing and to cater this, there is a need to explore new renewable energy resources. CdSe thin film solar cells may be promising alternative to the CdTe solar cells which are extensively studied and used in solar cell technology. The pre/post deposition chlorine based treatments (viz. CdCl2, MgCl2, NH4Cl) are the important steps to enhance the performance of Cd-based thin film solar cells. Therefore, a study on MgCl2 activation treatment to CdSe thin films for solar cell applications as absorber layer is undertaken. Different physical properties of e-beam evaporated CdSe films (thickness 550 nm) grown on glass and ITO substrates are investigated and found to be strongly dependent on the post-chlorine treatment. The films have cubic zinc-blende structure and phase transformation from cubic (111) to hexagonal (002) is achieved with the MgCl2 treatment while the optical band gap is reduced. I-V characteristics reveal the linear relation between voltage and current as well as the surface roughness is varied with treatment and improved homogeneity. The deposition of CdSe thin films is confirmed by elemental analysis where Cd and Se were found to be rich with treatment. The investigated results suggest that CdSe thin films treated by MgCl2 and annealed at 320 °C may be a viable alternative absorber layer to the Cd-based solar cells.

        This paper is devoted for the study of a new generalization of Struve type function. In this paper, we establish four new integral formulas involving the Galue type Struve function, which are express in term of the generalized (Wright) hypergeometric functions. The result established here are general in nature and are likely to nd useful in applied problem of sciences, engineering and technology.

        Reproductive Biotechnologies for Improvement of Buffalo: The Current Status

        Reproductive biotechnologies continue to be developed for genetic improvement of both river and swamp buffalo. Although artificial insemination using frozen semen emerged some decades back, there are still considerable limitations. The major problem appears to be the lack of efficient methods for estrus detection and timely insemination. Controlled breeding experiments in the buffalo had been limited and similar to those applied in cattle. Studies on multiple ovulation and embryo transfer are essentially a replica of those in cattle, however with inherent problems such as lower number of primordial follicles on the buffalo ovary, poor fertility and seasonality of reproduction, lower population of antral follicles at all stages of the estrous cycle, poor endocrine status and a high incidence of deep atresia in ovarian follicles, the response in terms of transferable embryo recovery has remained low with 0.51 to 3.0 per donor and pregnancy rates between 15 to 30%. In vitro production of buffalo embryos is a valid alternative to recovery of embryos by superovulation. This aspect received considerable attention during the past decade, however the proportion of embryos that develops to the blastocyst stage is still around 25-30% and hence the in vitro culture procedures need substantial improvement. Embryo cryopreservation procedures for direct transfer post thaw need to be developed for bubaline embryos. Nuclear transfer and embryo cloning is a technique that has received attention in various species during recent years and can be of immense value in buffaloes as they have a low rate of embryo recoveries by both in vitro and in vivo procedures. Gender pre-selection, genome analysis, gene mapping and gene transfer are a few of the techniques that have been studied to a limited extent during recent years and are likely to be included in future studies on buffaloes. Very recently, reproductive biotechnologies have been applied to feral buffaloes as well, but the results obtained so far are modest. When fully exploited they can play an important role in the preservation of endangered species.

        Robust position control and disturbance rejection of an industrial plant emulator system using the feedforward-feedback control

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>An important class of electromechanical system known as the industrial plant emulator system which represents the many practical systems used in the industry. The motion control of the emulator system is challenging and important one as it mimics the system class of conveyors, machine tools, spindle drives, and automated assembly machines. In this paper, a new quantitative feedback-feedforward approach is proposed to address both tracking and the disturbance (measurable, uncertain) rejection problem. The proposed methodology is centered on the design of feedback controller with the inversion based feedforward control. The proposed method converts the problem on the uncertain system into a nominal sensitivity problem which is simple, less conservative and easier to solve for a large number of uncertain parameter system such as the emulator plant. The unknown dynamic of the disturbance (motor) is identified practically by a step response (three parameter model) for integrating system. The proposed feedforward/feedback control is experimentally demonstrated to meet the tracking and reject the disturbance with the less demand on the feedback control as compared to the existing methods under different loading condition.</P>
