A novel refined plate theory for stability analysis of hybrid and symmetric S-FGM plates

        Fouad Bourada,Khaled Amara,Abdelmoumen A. Bousahla,Abdelouahed Tounsi,S. R. Mahmoud 국제구조공학회 2018 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.68 No.6

In this paper, buckling analysis of hybrid functionally graded plates using a novel four variable refined plate theory is presented. In this theory the distribution of transverse shear deformation is parabolic across the thickness of the plate by satisfying the surface conditions. Therefore, it is unnecessary to use a shear correction factor. The variations of properties of the plate through the thickness are according to a symmetric sigmoid law (symmetric S-FGM). The principle virtual works is used herein to extract equilibrium equations. The analytical solution is determined using the Navier method for a simply supported rectangular plate subjected to axial forces. The precision of this theory is verified by comparing it with the various solutions available in the literature.

Immune Defense of Rats Immunized with Fennel Honey, Propolis, and Bee Venom Against Induced Staphylococcal Infection

        S.M. Sayed,Ghada A. Abou El-Ella,Nahed M. Wahba,Neveen A. El Nisr,Khaled Raddad,M.F. Abd El Rahman,M.M. Abd El Hafeez,Ahmed Abd El Fattah Aamer 한국식품영양과학회 2009 Journal of medicinal food Vol.12 No.3

The objective of this work was to evaluate the potency of bee product-immunized rats to overcome an induced Staphylococcus aureus infection. Forty rats were divided to eight groups: T1, T3, and T5 received, respectively, fennel honey, ethanol, and aqueous propolis extracts orally, and T2, T4, and T6 were administered the respective materials intraperitoneally; T7 received bee venom by the bee sting technique; and T8 was the control group. All groups were challenged by a bovine clinical mastitis isolate of S. aureus. Each rat received 2mL of broth inoculated with 1×105 colony-forming units/mL intraperitoneally. Two weeks post-induced infection all rats were sacrificed and eviscerated for postmortem inspection and histopathological study. Three rats from T8 and one rat from T7 died before sacrifice. Another two rats, one each in T4 and T5, had morbidity manifestations. The remaining experimental animals showed apparently healthy conditions until time of sacrifice. Postmortem inspection revealed that all T8 rats showed different degrees of skeletal muscle and internal organ paleness with scattered focal pus nodules mainly on lungs and livers. All rats of the treated groups showed normal postmortem features except three rats. A dead rat in group T7 showed focal pus nodules on the lung surface only, whereas the affected two rats in groups T4 and T5 appeared normal except with some pus nodules, but much smaller than in the control, scattered on the hepatic surface and mesentery. Histopathological studies revealed that T8 rats had typical suppurative bronchopneumonia and or severe degenerative and necrobiotic changes in hepatic tissues. Three affected rats of the treated groups showed slight bronchopneumonia or degenerative hepatic changes only. The other animals of the treated groups showed completely normal parenchymatous organs with stimulated lymphatic tissues. It was concluded that all tested previously bee product-immunized rats could significantly challenge the induced S. aureus infection (P<.01). The effects were more pronounced in rats that had received fennel honey solution.

Characterization of Opto-Electrical, Electrochemical and Mechanical Behaviors of Flexible PVA/(PANI+La2CuO4)/LiClO4-PC Polymer Blend Electrolyte Films

        Murad Q. A. Al-Gunaid,Shashikala B. S.,Gayitri H. M.,Khaled Alkanad,Nabil Al-Zaqri,Ahmed Boshaala,Fares H. Al-Ostoot 한국고분자학회 2022 Macromolecular Research Vol.30 No.9

A new series of flexible nanocomposite-solid polymer electrolyte (SPEs) in the form of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) impregnated by core-shells polyaniline (PANI)-La2CuO4 (20:2 wt%) of nanofillers, 10wt% LiClO4 as electrolyte and various amount 2, 4, 6, and 8wt% of propylene carbonate, PC as plasticizer via solvent intercalation method. The obtained plasticized PVA-SPEs films were evaluated for their microstructural and morphological behaviors via X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, respectively. The surface morphology of plasticized PVA-SPEs films illustrated the finer dispersion of inclusion fillers in the PVA matrix with increasing the dosage of PC content. FTIR spectra showed a reduction in the characteristic peaks of PVA in composite films and that denoted the interaction between PVA-OH and fillers. Optical findings exhibited higher absorbance of PVA-SPE in the visible region compared with pure PVA; in addition, the band-gap energy was reduced to 2.68 eV for PVA-SPE containing 8wt% PC. The current-voltage characteristics showed a slight deviation for all PVA-SPE films denoting to non-ohmic behavior. Besides, the maximum ac-conductivity was found at 40.3 × 10−5 S/cm for PVA-SPE film containing 8wt% PC with enhanced their specific capacitance by two folds compared with pure PVA. Mechanical testing showed that elongation at break has been increased attributed to increasing flexibility of polymeric segments with the increase in PC content.

Plasma-assisted in-situ preparation of silver nanoparticles and polypyrrole toward superhydrophobic, antimicrobial and electrically conductive nonwoven fabrics from recycled polyester waste

        Amal T. Mogharbel,Saham F. Ibarhiam,Alaa M. Alqahtani,Roba M.S. Attar,Khaled F. Alshammari,Majid A. Bamaga,Salhah D. Al-Qahtani,Nashwa M. El-Metwaly 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.127 No.-

The preparation of multifunctional polyester fabric has been recently attractive research. Herein, a compositefilm of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and polypyrrole (Ppyr) were prepared and incorporated in situinto plasma-pretreated polyesters using the pad-dry-cure procedure of silver nitrate and pyrrole intopolyester to provide a multifunctional textile. Recycled polyester waste was shredded and melt-spunto provide nonwoven fabric. Polypyrrole was generated in situ via REDOX polymerization process of pyrrole. This polymerization process was accompanied with reduction of Ag+ to Ag0 NPs, leading to permanentinsoluble property within the structure of the polyester fibers. Thus, high colorfastness wasmonitored without varying the comfort features of the finished polyesters. The produced polypyrroleacted an electrically conductive agent, whereas silver nitrate functioned as an antmicrobial agent. By curingwith hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMS), the superhydrophobic properties were imparted to polyesterfabrics. The morphological studies were explored by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX),transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanningelectron microscope (SEM). The bend length and air-permeability of the finished polyesters were investigatedto assess their comfort characteristics. The antibacterial behavior to S. aureus and E. coli wereexamined. Additionally, the finished fabrics showed ultraviolet shielding and electrical conductivity.

      • A system of several fraction laws for the identification of rotating response of FG shell

        Yahya, Ahmad,Hussain, Muzamal,Khadimallah, Mohamed A.,Khedher, Khaled Mohamed,Al-Basyouni, K.S.,Ghandourah, Emad,Banoqitah, Essam Mohammed,Alshoaibi, Adil Techno-Press 2022 Advances in concrete construction Vol.13 No.3

The problem is formulated by applying the Kirchhoff's conception for shell theory. The longitudinal modal displacement functions are assessed by characteristic beam ones meet clamped-clamped end conditions applied at the shell edges. The fundamental natural frequency of rotating functionally graded cylindrical shells of different parameter versus ratios of length-to-diameter and height-to-diameter for a wide range has been reported and investigated through the study with fractions laws. The frequency first increases and gain maximum value with the increase of circumferential wave mode. By increasing different value of height-to-radius ratio, the resulting backward and forward frequencies increase and frequencies decrease on increasing height-to-radius ratio. Moreover, on increasing the rotating speed, the backward frequencies increases and forward frequencies decreases. The trigonometric frequencies are lower than that of exponential and polynomial frequencies. Stability of a cylindrical shell depends highly on these aspects of material. More the shell material sustains a load due to physical situations, the more the shell is stable. Any predicted fatigue due to burden of vibrations is evaded by estimating their dynamical aspects.

Synthesis and Antiinflammatory Activity of Novel Indazolones

Abouzid, Khaled-A.M.,EI-Abhar, H.S. The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 2003 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.26 No.1

In this study, a series of new $N^2$ substituted 1,2-dihydro-3H-indazol-3-ones (3a-d) as well as their condensed pyrazolo, pyridazino derivatives such as pyridazino[1,2-a]indazole-6,9,11-triones (4a-h) and 3,9-dioxo-3H,9H-pyrazolo[1,2-a]indazole (7) were synthesized. The antiinflammatory activity of some synthesized compounds was determined by carrageenan-induced rat paw edema technique using diclofenac as reference drug. The pharmacological data showed that most of the tested compounds exhibited a significant long lasting antiinflammatory activity, which in the case of compound 3b was superior to that of diclofenac.

Experimental and numerical FEM of woven GFRP composites during drilling

        Mohamed S. Abd-Elwahed,Usama A. Khashaba,Khaled I. Ahmed,Mohamed A. Eltaher,Ismael Najjar,Ammar Melaibari,Azza M. Abdraboh 국제구조공학회 2021 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.80 No.5

This paper investigates experimentally and numerically the influence of drilling process on the mechanical and thermomechanical behaviors of woven glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite plate. Through the experimental analysis, a CNC machine with cemented carbide drill (point angles =118° and 6 mm diameter) was used to drill a woven GFRP laminated squared plate with a length of 36.6 mm and different thicknesses. A produced temperature during drilling “heat affected zone (HAZ)” was measured by two different procedures using thermal IR camera and thermocouples. A thrust force and cutting torque were measured by a Kistler 9272 dynamometer. The delamination factors were evaluated by the image processing technique. Finite element model (FEM) has been developed by using LS-Dyna to simulate the drilling processing and validate the thrust force and torque with those obtained by experimental technique. It is found that, the present finite element model has the capability to predict the force and torque efficiently at various drilling conditions. Numerical parametric analysis is presented to illustrate the influences of the speeding up, coefficient of friction, element type, and mass scaling effects on the calculated thrust force, torque and calculation’s cost. It is found that, the cutting time can be adjusted by drilling parameters (feed, speed, and specimen thickness) to control the induced temperature and thus, the force, torque and delamination factor in drilling GFRP composites. The delamination of woven GFRP is accompanied with edge chipping, spalling, and uncut fibers.

Band offsets and optical conduction in the CdSe/GaSe interface

        T.S. Kayed,A.F. Qasrawi,Khaled A. Elsayed 한국물리학회 2016 Current Applied Physics Vol.16 No.7

In this work, the design and characterization of CdSe/GaSe heterojunction is considered. The CdSe/GaSe thin film interface was prepared by the physical vapor deposition technique. Systematic structural and optical analysis were performed to explore the crystalline nature, the optical band gaps, the conduction and valence band offsets, the dielectric spectra, and the frequency dependent optical conductivity at terahertz frequencies. The X-ray diffraction analysis revealed a polycrystalline interface that is mostly dominated by the hexagonal CdSe oriented in the (002) direction. It was also found that the CdSe/GaSe interface exhibits conduction and valence band offsets of 1.35 and 1.23/1.14 eV, respectively. The dielectric spectra displayed two dielectric resonance peaks at 530 and 445 THz. Moreover, the computational fittings of the optical conductivity of the interface revealed a free carrier scattering time of 0.41 (fs) for a free carrier density of 7.0 1018 (cm3). The field effect mobility for the CdSe/GaSe interface was found to be 5.22 (cm2/Vs). The remarkable features of this device having large band offsets and qualitative optical conduction dominated by a scattering time in the order of femtoseconds in addition to the dielectric property nominate the device to be used in optoelectronic technology.

      • Protocruzia, a highly ambiguous ciliate (Protozoa; Ciliophora): Very likely an ancestral form for Heterotrichea, Colpodea or Spirotrichea? With reevaluation of its evolutionary position based on multigene analyses.

Li, Lifang,Thorsten, Stoeck,Kyoon, Shin Mann,Al-Rasheid Khaled, A S,Al-Khedhairy Bdulaziz, A,Song, Weibo Jointly published by Science China Press and Sprin 2010 Science China. Life sciences Vol.53 No.1

The ciliate genus Protocruzia belongs to one of the most ambiguous taxa considering its systematic position, possible as a member of the classes Heterotrichea, Spirotrichea or Karyorelictea, which is tentatively placed into Spirotrichea in Lynn's 2008 system. To test these hypotheses, multigene trees (Bayesian inference, evolutionary distance, maximum parsimony, and maximum likelihood) were constructed using the small subunit rRNA (SSU rRNA) gene, internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) and a protein coding gene (histone H4). All analyses agree that: (1) four morphotypes of Protocruzia from different geographical origins group together and form a monophyletic clade, which cannot be assigned to any of the eleven described ciliate classes; (2) it is invariably positioned on an isolated branch separated from the class Spirotrichea suggesting that this clade should be clearly removed from Spirotrichea; (3) this leads us to hypothesize that this taxon may indeed represent a lineage on a class rank. Based on the fact that it is, both morphologically and in molecular features, closely related to heterotrichs, Colpodea and Oligohymenophorea, Protocruziida might be an ancestral form for the subphylum Intramacronucleata in the evolutionary line from the class Heterotrichea (subphylum Postciliodesmatophora) to higher taxa.
