CYCLIST TARGET AND TEST SETUP FOR EVALUATION OF CYCLIST-AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING
Olaf Op den Camp,Sjef van Montfort,Jeroen Uittenbogaard,Joke Welten 한국자동차공학회 2017 International journal of automotive technology Vol.18 No.6
From 2018, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) systems dedicated to avoid or mitigate passenger car-tocyclist collisions will be considered in the safety assessment by Euro NCAP. To test such systems, appropriate equipment has been developed in a project called CATS “Cyclist-AEB Testing System”, that has run between April 2014 and August 2016. Moreover, a proposal for the most relevant test scenarios was set up. The objective of the project was to provide proof to Euro NCAP of the relevance of the proposed test scenarios and of the feasibility of practical implementation of the scenarios and test setup. The process regarding the selection, verification and validation of test scenarios is described. The cooperation between 17 industrial partners (car manufacturers and automotive suppliers) in the CATS project has stimulated the harmonization and acceptance of the protocol, target and test setup. The process and intermediate results including the used methodology, have been reviewed by the German Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) and have been shared on a regular basis during the project with stakeholders in Europe, Japan and the USA. Euro NCAP already indicated to consider the results of the CATS project as the main input to draft the test protocol, including scenarios and target for Cyclist-AEB systems in 2018 and 2020.
Is the EU Relevant for Europeanization? Some Findings in non-EU-Member States
Olaf Leisse 미래사회통합연구센터 2019 Journal of Conflict and Integration Vol.3 No.1
The Europeanization phenomena occurs also in the countries of the Eastern Partnership, which have no prospect of joining the European Union. The EU actively promotes the transformation of post-Soviet states towards more democracy, political and economic stability and more participation of civil society. This article argues that Europeanization will only succeed if the national actors support this process independently of the concrete incentives of the EU and if they support each other in the transformation process. Since the political, social and cultural situation in the three countries of the Southern Caucasus is very different, Europeanization leads in the long term to a deeper heterogeneity in the region.
MR Imaging Appearances of Soft Tissue Flaps Following Reconstructive Surgery of the Lower Extremity
Olaf Magerkurth,Gandikota Girish,Jon A Jacobson,Sung Moon Kim,Monica K Brigido,Qian Dong,David A Jamadar 대한영상의학회 2015 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.16 No.1
MR imaging appearances of different types of reconstructive muscle flaps following reconstructive surgery of the lower extremity with associated post-surgical changes due to altered anatomy, radiation, and potential complications, can be challenging. A multidisciplinary therapeutic approach to tumors allows for limb salvage therapy in a majority of the patients. Decision-making for specific types of soft tissue reconstruction is based on the body region affected, as well as the size and complexity of the defect. Hematomas and infections are early complications that can jeopardize flap viability. The local recurrence of a tumor within six months after a complete resection with confirmed tumor-free margins and adjuvant radiation therapy is rare. Identification of a new lesion similar to the initial tumor favors a finding of tumor recurrence.
The utility of late Early to Middle Cambrian small shelly fossils from the westernMediterranean
Olaf Elicki 한국지질과학협의회 2005 Geosciences Journal Vol.9 No.2
New data on Cambrian small shelly fossils from Germany and Sardinia, and Spain are discussed with respect to their stratigraphical, paleogeographical, and paleoecological value. It is shown that these small shelly assemblages represent very useful tools for reconstruction of geological processes and of the Perigondwanan history in the Mediterranean area, especially, if trilobites are absent or hard to recover from the rocks. The German and Sardinian assemblages reflect distinct ecological conditions on shallow platform and shelf areas and mirror any changes in these habitats. Thus, lateral and vertical transitions from restricted inner platform to deep subtidal conditions are documented by characteristic successions of Sardinian assemblages. German assemblages show clearly distinct paleogeographic/ecological developments. The reorganization of the ecosystems is linked to shelf-wide processes which can be stratigraphically correlated in their single phases (e.g., drowning of platforms, breakup of the Perigondwanan realm, origin of terranes). Broader paleogeographic relationships of small shelly fossils to the Far East and Australia are proposed and support earlier controversial assumptions based on trilobites. Because of the small shelly fossils distribution patterns, a pre-Late Cambrian separation of terranes from the so called European shelf of western Gondwana is unlikely. During the Early to Middle Cambrian a rather uniform and weakly differentiated facies belt across most of the European shelf is indicated, and this contradicts earlier concepts of more-or-less isolated depositional basins. Despite recent progress in knowledge of Mediterranean small shelly fossil assemblages, further improvements will lead to a better understanding and a much more detailed picture of the Cambrian history of Perigondwana and its relationships to other paleocontinents.
